FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS: NIGHT OF FUTURE CHAMPIONS SARATOGA SPRINGS HEAVYWEIGHT WILCOX TO FACE UNDEFEATED PROSPECT AGUILERA JULY 25TH IN SARATOGA

For Immediate Release

Saratoga Springs, June 18, 2008 – Saratoga Springs heavyweight Gary Wilcox (21-3, 7 KOs) will face his toughest challenge in recent years when he faces young prospect Nagy Aguilera (8-0, 6 KOs), Newburgh, N.Y., in the eight-round co-feature event of Pugnacious Promotions’ annual “Night of Future Champions” summer boxing card at the Saratoga Springs City Center on Friday, July 25th.

The bout will be featured on the annual card showcasing hot, young boxing prospects promoted by Pugnacious Promotions, in association with Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and DiBella Entertainment, during the first weekend of world-class thoroughbred racing at the city’s historic race course. Feature fights on the card – held on the first night of twilight racing the evening before the Breeder's Cup qualifier Whitney Stakes – will be televised on ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights.”

Also appearing on the card are Guilderland lightweight prospect Mike Faragon (3-0), Schenectady light welterweight Brian Miller (2-0-2), Guilderland cruiserweight Chris Horn (3-1, 2 KOs), Albany light heavyweight Markus Williams (1-0, 1 KO), Yonkers cruiserweight Jon Schneider (7-2-1, 5 KOs) and Schenectady pro debuter Brian Abraham.

“This heavyweight match-up between Saratoga’s own Gary Wilcox, a seasoned, highly skilled veteran, against the hot, young prospect Nagy Aguilera, from the Hudson Valley, is sure to be a thrilling fight for fans,” said Lisa Elovich promoter of the event. “It’s a true crossroads fight, with an accomplished and experienced boxer standing in the way of an up-and-coming, undefeated prospect.”

Wilcox, 6'4" and 240 lbs, was a former cruiserweight contender who has moved up to heavyweight for his past few fights. He fought most recently in Albany on May 16th, a fifth-round TKO over journeyman John Rainwater.

Aguilera, a 6'3" 235 lb Dominican fighting out of Newburgh, N.Y., was a former two-time Golden Glove title winner with over 120 amateur fights. He stepped up in his first eight-round bout May 29th at Tioga Downs, near Binghamton, against tough Pittsburgh slugger Jason Bergman, winning by TKO in the first round.
