Alliance with Golden Boy Promotions
For
Immediate Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.)
– USA Boxing is pleased to announce a
new alliance with Golden Boy Promotions, one
of the leading boxing promotional companies
in the world, under which USA Boxing and Golden
Boy Promotions will collaborate on numerous
marketing, media, broadcast and consulting efforts.
"Golden Boy Promotions
has set the gold standard in terms of a top-quality
approach to the sport and business of boxing,"
said USA Boxing CEO, Jim Millman. "This
alliance will help USA Boxing accelerate its
growth and development in many areas, while
giving our elite athletes the benefit of more
time spent with Oscar de la Hoya."
"Beyond the obvious
sports marketing opportunities that this alliance
offers both partners, we're delighted about
the important connection it establishes for
Golden Boy Promotions with amateur boxing,"
added Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer.
"USA Boxing events were important benchmarks
in the early development of Oscar's career and
his Olympic Gold Medal in 1992 was one of the
greatest moments in Olympic history. We are
greatly looking forward to working with USA
Boxing during these exciting years of its development."
One of the many benefits
of the newly created alliance will be Golden
Boy Promotions’ new relationship with
AEG, one of the world’s leading sports
and entertainment presenters, in coordinating
potential venues for select USA Boxing national
and international events. Golden Boy and USA
Boxing will work together on sponsorship strategies
as well as developing media, digital and event
content. Ring Magazine, one of Golden Boy Enterprises’
recent acquisitions, will also become a focal
point of the alliance, relative to editorial
coverage, advertising opportunities and subscription
promotion for USA Boxing members.
The alliance also establishes
a platform for De La Hoya to spend added time
in Colorado Springs at the Olympic Training
Center with the U.S. National & Olympic
Teams athletes.
Founded in 2001 by 10-time
world champion and 1992 Olympic Gold Medalist,
Oscar de la Hoya, Golden Boy Promotions has
quickly become one of the most powerful boxing
promotional companies in the business. Boasting
an impressive roster of close to 60 fighters,
from future hall of famers Bernard Hopkins,
Sugar Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez and
Marco Antonio Barrera to current world champions
Ricky Hatton, David Haye, Joel Casamayor, Israel
Vazquez and Gerry Peñalosa, Golden Boy
has catapulted to the top of the field in less
than a decade. Also included on the company’s
roster are top contenders, Juan Diaz, Daniel
Ponce De Leon, Jhonny Gonzalez, Librado Andrade
and Rey Bautista; 2000 United States Olympians
Rocky Juarez and Jeff Lacy; 2004 United States
Olympians Abner Mares, Vicente Escobedo and
Rock Allen; and highly regarded prospects Danny
Garcia, Jermell Charlo, Hylon Williams and Carlos
and Juan Velasquez.
"When Olympic champions
like Oscar de la Hoya find outstanding career
success, it reflects positively on the Olympic
movement and becomes another source of inspiration
and motivation to every young athlete,"
said USOC Chairman, Peter Ueberroth. "Having
one of the premier
companies in boxing, and one of the greatest
champions in Olympic history, Oscar de la Hoya,
partner with our Olympic National Governing
Body is an extremely positive development.”
