Leave No Vet Behind Results
“Shocking”, “Elegant”, “Wow”! Were the common terms used by fans as they entered the black tie and white tablecloth LaVilla Banquet Center this past Saturday night in Cleveland, Ohio. Newhouse Promotions held it first installment of the Leave No Vet Behind Boxing Series. The promotion is headed by Tim Van Newhouse a former accomplished prize fighter and United States Air force Veteran. “I wanted to accomplish two goals with this promotion. The first is to give back to the homeless and jobless veterans in the area and second to bring boxing back to Cleveland.”
The LaVilla Banquet Center was decorated with all of the luxury amenities that you would expect to find at a Las Vegas Show. We asked one fan what he thought of the décor of the show “I walked in to marble floors, hosts in tuxedos, white table cloths with appetizers already on the table, and a beautiful boxing ring in the middle of all of it, I had to check my ticket because I thought I was at the Pacquiao fight.”
The lights dimmed, the sold out crowd settled and fans were treated to a 5 bout card that left fans cheering on their feet and wanting for more.
The main event saw Cleveland’s own Mark “Too Sharp” Davis (16-0, 5 KOs) remain undefeated with a 10 round unanimous decision over Buffalo’s Guillermo “Vampire” Sanchez (14-3-1, 5 KOs). Davis dominated the fight from the opening to the closing bell and has now placed himself in line for a championship bout.
The co-main event saw “The Pride of Lorain” Wilkins Santiago (4-0, 1 KO) maintain his perfect record with a 6 round unanimous decision over Marcus “TNT” Washington (5-6-1 2 KO). Santiago effectively used his jab to keep his opponent off balance throughout the duration of the fight. Santiago advanced his career to another level with this victory. Look for Wilkins to capture his 7th victory in December.
The remaining undercard saw:
Angel “El Fuego” Figuersora (1-0) def. 4/SD “Ravishing” Larenzo Wilson (1-1)
Ela “Bam Bam” Nulez (10-8 2 KO) def. 4/SD Carla “Star” Torres (3-2)
Antonio Nieves (1-0) def. 4/UD DeWayne Wisdom (1-1 I KO)
Look for Newhouse Promotions to return to the Rock-n-Roll Capital of the World in February.
