Tacoma, WA (Monday, February 27, 2012) – David “Hollywood” Hulett lived up to his billing by taking out local favorite Len Bentley in the first round of their Cagesport Welterweight title match last Saturday evening at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma.
Headlining Halquist Productions’ “Cagesport XVIII”, The Las Vegas based submission specialist impressed the standing-room-only crowd by Bentley to the ground within the first minute of the bout. Bentley, a former Ultimate Fighter participant and who also fought in M-1 and Strikeforce, tried to get back to his feet but was unsuccessful. Hulett, fighting once again in his opponent’s backyard, executed a grueling achilles lock, which forced his foe to submit 1:28 into the contest.
Hulett improves to 19-10 with 11 of this wins coming by submission. Bentley, a local favorite who stepped for Eddy Ellis on less than one week’s notice, falls to 10-6.
In the highly anticipated co-feature, Cagesport veteran Ryan Mulvihill scored the biggest win of his career after using a triangle choke to submit fellow Cagesport regular Chanti “The Brooklyn Knight” Johnson at 2:50 in second round of their three round featherweight bout.
Rising local stars Jeff Hatton and Julian Erosa both remained undefeated, submitting Corey Roska and Jerome Jones respectively.
“I am very pleased with this card, especially considering that the main event fell apart less than a week before the show,” said Brian Halquist, CEO of Halquist Productions. “We had a sold out crowd and a ton of talented fighters giving it their all. I can’t wait for the next card!”
Cagesport returns to the Emerald Queen on Saturday, April 28 and more information will be available on HalquistProductions.com.
