Professional Boxing Returns to the Rock & Roll Capital

Cleveland, May 19, 2012: The, white tablecloth, LaVilla Grand Ballroom was once again sold out and those who were lucky enough to gain entrance into the arena were treated to first class décor, Hollywood style entertainment and a 6 fight boxing card that left the crowd wanting more and opening their wallets to purchase advance tickets to the next show in August. Those who were not in the ball room, listened to the roar of the crowd and caught the occasional glimpse of pugilistic perfection.

This was the second installment of the “Leave No Vet Behind” Boxing series. Newhouse Promotions, targets two objectives. Bring the sweet science back to Cleveland and take care of our veterans. Over 200 Veterans were in attendance and throughout the evening the action was paused due to multiple standing ovations from the capacity crowd. An emotional Tim VanNewhouse, while clutching his daughter who was waving Old Glory behind the flags of our Armed Forces, stated “It’s because of these men and women in attendance and those serving past and present, for what they did, the sacrifices they made, the price they paid, allows us to do what we do here tonite.” VanNewhouse went onto say that “No matter what happens in life, we are given the freedom to succeed, fail and try again because these men and women. Thank you.”

The main event saw Cleveland being one step closer to a championship as Undefeated Michael Moore (11-0, 6 KO’s) kept his flawless record intact with an 8 round Majority Decision over Chicago’s Michael Walker (19-14-3, 12 KO’s). Moore was the aggressive fighter throughout the 24 minute slug fest. Although the judge’s scorecards reflected a close encounter, Moore simply showed that he can step up in class and is ready for some Gold.

Fan Favorite Wilkins Santiago (6-0, 1 KO) remain undefeated with a 6 round unanimous decision over veteran Paul Mpendo (10-12-3). This was Santiago’s second fight in 21 days and dominated the fight from the opening to the closing bell. Like his main event counterpart, this was a step up in class for the Lorain native known as the Hispanic Hurricane.

Antonio Nieves (1-0) stepped into the squared circle a novice and walked away a undefeated ambassador of the sweet science as he was victorious with a 4 round majority decision in his professional debut against debuting Jesus Gonzalez (0-1).

Rounding out the undercard:
Charlie Natal (1-0) WUD over Renan Ruiz Jr. (0-1)
Marco Hall (2-0-1, 2 KOs) Majority Draw with Angel Figueroa (1-0-1)
Dante Moore (7-0-2, 4 KO’s) WUD over Casey Adams (3-2-2 KO’s)
