Friday night sees the return of professional boxing to Rivals Gym in Wishaw, were a seven fight card is headlined By Jervistons Iain Butcher as he takes on South African Michael Rambalesta for the vacant ‘International Masters Super Flyweight’ title.
While the card is being headlined by Butcher, making a return to the venue is Sanquhar’s Rhys Pagan who fought there in October when he overcame Tamworth’s Matt Seawright with a convincing points victory over six rounds.
“I thought the fight was a good learning curve for me, I learnt a bit about these types of Journeymen and Seawright was tough. He was awkward to overcome as he did a lot of hugging, but I am a better fighter for the experience” Said Rhys Pagan.
On Friday night, Pagan looks to make it four straight wins as he takes on the busy William Warburton “From what I have seen of Warburton he is a good fighter and experienced and he will be feeling good after his recent Masters title win over Chris Higgs in Gloucester last month.
That fight shows how dangerous he can be and I would say that his record can be a bit deceiving
“But I know it will be a good fight and that is what I want” added the 19 year old.
Whilst Prospect Boxing are guiding him through his career, training him is Sam Mullen with assistance from Rhys father. Reflecting on his team, the Light Middleweight explains he thinks he’s made the best choice
“It is good to train with my dad and Sam. Sam really knows the sport and he pushes me hard and keeps me going I really rate him at what he does and he has got me in good shape for this fight and always has me prepared ”
Rhys Pagan joins a seven fight card also features Billy Campbell, Kris Hughes, Mark Parvin, James Tennyson and Sean Watson.
