Due to an injury picked up in sparring to head liner Alex Montgomery, the May 24th card at Cleland Miners Club has now been rescheduled to Friday June 28th at the same venue. In addition to the injury to Montgomery, Fauldhouse fighter Sean Watson has also endured a personal problem which has seen him struggle to make the original date .
With two of the original four scheduled home fighters having to come off the bill, promoter Paul Graham explains it was the logical choice to reschedule the show to a later date “Alex has picked up a cut in sparring, its quite a deep one so we need to give him time to get over it. Its not great, but we will monitor the situation closely and hopefully get him on a another show in due course.
“I spoke to Sean (Watson) and he explained that he wouldn’t be able to make the original date, but the new date gives him some much needed breathing space. We will confirm his opponent closer to the bout and look forward to seeing him back in action.
On the rescheduled bill, undefeated Welterweight Rhys Pagan (5-0) faces Hungarian Joseph Garia over six rounds, and Ayr’s Martin McCord will make his long awaited professional debut.
Also in action is recently crowned Irish Super Featherweight champion James Tennyson (6-0), who previously fought in last December’s Prospect Boxing show in Wishaw, is pencilled to take on Imre Nagy over six rounds.
While the fighting line up may have changed, Graham confirms the other entertainment will still go ahead as promised “ The ticket price will still include entertainment in the form of Tam Cowan, and few singers and it also does include a bit of food as well. The club is quite a small venue, so there isn’t a bad seat in the house, and the layout of the hall gives it a unique atmosphere to what should be a entertaining night.
Prospect Boxing present an evening of Professional Boxing the pro debut of Martin McCord and the return of Sean Watson and Rhys Pagan and Irish Super Featherweight Champion James Tennyson in a four fight card at the Cleland Miners Welfare Club on Friday June 28th.
Also included in the ticket price are a meal and an appearance by BBC Off the Ball presenter Tam Cowan.
Tickets priced £35 are available from the boxers or by calling 01698 338 888 .
