DeCARLO PEREZ, JAMAR FREEMAN MEET AUG. 24 AT BALLY’S AC IN JUNIOR MIDDLWEIGHT SHOWDOWN–LIVE ON PANDAFEED.TV
Atlantic City, NJ—DeCarlo Perez, of Atlantic City, and Jamar Freeman, of Wilson, NC, collide in an eight-round battle of junior middleweight prospects on Saturday evening, Aug. 24, in the Grand Ballroom at Bally’s Atlantic City.
clip_image003 The Perez-Freeman match serves as the semifinal to the scheduled 10-round junior lightweight main event between Teon Kennedy, of Philadelphia, PA, and Joselito Collado, of Queens, NY. The eight-fight card will be streamed live on the internet by www.pandafeed.tv. First fight is 7.30 p.m.
Perez (right), 22, has been a pro for just over three years. His 10-2-1 record includes four knockouts. He has won his last four fights, including an impressive fifth-round knockout over Julius Kennedy, of Windsor Mill, MD, on April 19 at Harrah’s Philadelphia.
In that streak, Perez defeated some solid opposition: Lenwood Dozier, of Glen Burnie, MD; Shamone Alvarez, of Atlantic City; Dante Moore, of Cleveland, OH.
Moving from welterweight to junior middleweight seems to have been the recipe for success for Perez, who had lost two out of three fights in a five-month span from the fall of 2011 thru the winter of 2012 as he struggled to stay at 147 pounds. He has weighed between 151 and 156 for his last four fights, all victories.
Freeman, 28, is one of the better prospects to come from North Carolina in recent years. His only loss came in his last fight late in 2011 when he was stopped with less than one minute to go in the 10th and last round against Samuel Rogers, of the Virgin Islands, in Las Vegas, NV.
Six preliminary fights complete the card.
