San Diego, CA) – A healthy night of boxing turned out at the Las Pulgas nightclub in the heart of Avenida Revolucion in Tijuana, Mexico, when Mayen and Zanfer Promotions presented the second edition of their yearly “El Box Se Viste de Rosa” fight card comprised of all female fights this past Wednesday night. The event last year shot for the stars when lead promoter Guillermo “Memo” Mayen assembled a full night filled from the commissioner Jackie Nava, to the announcer, trainers, referee, ringside doctor and of course the fighters all members of the fair sex. This year, Mayen concentrated more in the actual action inside the ring. Former and current champions Kaliesha West, Jolene Blackshear and the “Aztec Princess” Jackie Nava were on hand to witness WBC super-bantamweight champion Alicia “Slick” Ashley (20-9-1, 2KOs) scored her second knockout ever in her career when she stopped the game but outclassed Zenny Sotomayor (10-6-2, 8KOs) of Los Mochis, Mexico, in the fifth round of a scheduled female championship ten.
Since the ultra-popular Jackie Nava took a leave of absence from the squared circle this year because of motherhood, the charismatic and undefeated Kenia Enriquez (8-0, 4KOs) has taken the baton and has become the darling of the Tijuana boxing scene. With the twenty-year old recently returning to school, the boxer/puncher Enriquez had not seen action since June when she stopped the experienced Gloria Salas in four rounds.
