Chicago, IL. (January 22, 2014) Former national amateur standout, Semajay Thomas heads to the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. to continue his professional boxing career this Saturday night, JANUARY 25, making his second start in the paid ranks.
Following his highly anticipated professional debut this past AUGUST 30 at Cicero Stadium, Thomas, 1-0-0, will return to battle against Kevin Womack Jr. in a four round welterweight clash at the DC Armory on the undercard of a SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING card presented by Golden Boy Promotions.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, the 25-year-old Womack brings a record of 4-2-1 (2KO’s) into the battle against Thomas.
“I’m very excited to return to the ring,” said the 20-year-old Chicago native. “Working with my new trainer Ronnie Shields in Houston, Texas for the last couple of months has been a tremendous experience.”
“This is my first fight back in five months but I’d like to stay as busy as possible. I’ve got a lot to learn but I’m very enthusiastic about my training and taking care of business in the ring” said Thomas.
Thomas was a highly decorated amateur earning numerous accolades including being ranked #1 in the nation in the 141lb. weight class after winning the 2011 U.S. National Championships.

Thomas has also teamed up with boxing’s most powerful advisor, Al Haymon who works with the sports’ biggest names including undefeated world champion and pay-per-view king Floyd Mayweather.
“Working together with Al, we’ve mapped out a plan for Semajay’s future and the first step for him is this Saturday night” said Smith.
