JOSE RAMIREZ SPEARHEADS “OPERATION GOBBLE” TURKEY AND FOOD BASKET GIVEAWAY FOR NEEDY FAMILIES
AVENAL CALIF. (November 23, 2015) — Undefeated junior welterweight contender, 2012 U.S. Olympian and social activist, JOSE RAMIREZ, and Team Ramirez are taking time out from training camp to team up with County Supervisor Richard Valle for the annual “Operation Gobble,” where they will give away 230 turkeys and food baskets for the town Ramirez was born and raised in — Avenal, Calif. It will take place Tomorrow! Tuesday, November 24 at Avenal Veterans Hall (108 West King St.), beginning at 11:45 a.m. PT.
“Team Ramirez is proud and happy to give back to my home town,” said Ramirez.” Supervisor Valle has done a lot for my city and I hope we can make some families happy this Thanksgiving.”
In what has become an annual tradition for District 2, Supervisor Valle plans to give away turkeys to families throughout the district at events in Corcoran, Home Garden, Avenal, and Kettleman City. CrisCom Company, Waste Management, and Costless contributed to the effort.
“I want to extend my gratitude to former Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante and Jose Ramirez as well as the wonderful organizations that really came through for my constituents with their generous support this year,” said Supervisor Valle. “With their help, we were able to provide a healthy and happy Thanksgiving to many families in my district.”
Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum added, “Jose has always given back to his community. We are so proud of him.”
