Västerås, Sweden (Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015) – Belgian super welterweight Sheldon Moore (15-3-1, 10 KOs) made his Uprising Promotions debut on Saturday, earning a unanimous decision over a game Lukasz Janik (14-15-1, 8 KOs) in Sweden. The fight was held at the Rocklunda Hall in Västerås, with all three judges seeing it 60-54 in favor of Moore.
“Sheldon gave his opponent a boxing exhibition, as he dominated from round one to round six,” said Ronson Frank, President of Uprising Promotions. “I am very pleased with his performance and am looking forward to building off this for his December 12th date for the two WBC regional belts.”
On the December 12th date that Frank referenced, Moore will meet Islam Teffahi (17-5-2, 5 KOs) for the WBC International Silver and WBC Francophone Super Welterweight titles at the Centre sportif des Ascenseurs in Le Roeulx, Belgium.
“I feel great. That was a tough guy,” Moore remarked after defeating Janik tonight. “He was a tough, durable opponent. He wasn’t here to lose. He tried hard. I was just smarter and faster than him, and it showed up on the scorecards.”
Moore came out in the first round and worked well behind a consistently effective jab that set the table for the six-frame encounter.
“I’ve been blessed with a beautiful left hand, a beautiful jab,” Moore stated. “We’ve been working on that.”
In the second round, Moore began to follow up the jab with a right hand over the top, showing good poise and calmness against an awkwardly aggressive opponent. In the middle frames, he got busier, timing his advances well and getting to the action first amid exchanges. He also began to show movement that frustrated Janik, particularly when he displayed his quickness at the point of impact by planting and stepping into his combinations while he changed levels. The Belgian was also very sound defensively, blocking some winging shots from Janik throughout the contest that mostly hit his gloves and forearms.
In the sixth and final round, Moore turned up the volume even further, firing more numbers and backing up Janik in the opening minute with a well-constructed burst. He found his best rhythm in that last frame as well, finishing off a dominant shutout victory to make it a successful debut under the Uprising Promotions banner.
With Moore taking no damage on Saturday, he is now all set for his December 12th bout in his native country of Belgium for the WBC International Silver and WBC Francophone Super Welterweight belts.
