UPRISING PROMOTIONS INKS GUYANESE MIDDLEWEIGHT EDMUND DECLOU

Brooklyn, N.Y. (Friday, Dec. 4, 2015) – Ronson Frank’s Uprising Promotions continues to bolster an impressive roster, confirming today that it has signed Guyanese middleweight Edmund DeClou (16-3-1, 3 KOs) to a promotional contract.

“Edmund brings significant value to what we are doing as a team,” said Ronson Frank, President of Uprising Promotions. “He is a slick middleweight and really skilled boxer who is not too far away from getting a big fight. Edmund is already a 20-bout veteran, so our plan is to get him a couple fights and then put him in a position where he can knock off a top guy to take his spot.”

The number one rated middleweight in Guyana, DeClou is a six-year professional who was unbeaten in 14 consecutive fights after splitting the first two bouts of his pro campaign. Since then, he has avenged both of his most previous losses and was victorious in his last outing, a six-frame unanimous decision over Kevin Hylton in Jamaica.

DeClou won the interim Guyanese super middleweight championship in 2011 by defeating now Uprising Promotions stablemate Joel McRae and then picked up the Guyanese middleweight title in his next bout by decisioning 54-bout veteran Howard Eastman in 12 rounds. He then put himself on the international radar in 2012 when he scored a ninth round TKO over Kevin Placide to claim the vacant WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) middleweight championship.

Plans are currently in the works for DeClou’s debut under the Uprising Promotions banner and are expected to be confirmed within the next few weeks.

Next up for Uprising Promotions is a super welterweight pairing for Villi Bello (3-1, 1 KO) this Saturday night at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City when he faces Alshamar Johnson (1-1, 1 KO). Following that is a December 12th date for Belgian super welterweight Sheldon Moore (15-3-1, 10 KOs), who will meet Islam Teffahi (17-5-2, 5 KOs) for the WBC International Silver and WBC Francophone titles at the Centre sportif des Ascenseurs in Le Roeulx, Belgium.
