Billy Joe Saunders won the WBO Middleweight title with a 12-round majority decision over Andy Lee at The Manchester Arena in Manchester, England
Saunders dropped Lee twice in round three. The first was from a perfect counter right on the chin. Lee was hurt and tasted the canvas again from a flurry of punches that was punctuated by a right hand. Lee was only occasionally able to land his vaunted power shots. Saunders was never in any danger and the fight turned into more of a jabbing contest, for which Saunders held his own.
Saunders won by scores of 115-111 and 114-112 and is now 23-0. Lee of Limerick, Ireland is 34-3-1.
