Conwell Stops Ashkeyev After 9

World-Ranked Charles Conwell took Madiyar Ashkeyev after round nine of their scheduled 10-round junior middleweight bout at the parking lot of the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California.

Conwell beat up Ashkeyev throughout the contest as he pounded away at the body and landed heavy shots upstairs. Ashkeyev had a lot of swelling over his left eye from the constant offense of Conwell. Referee Jack Reiss stopped the bout in between rounds nine and 10.

Conwell, 154 lbs of Cleveland, OH is 14-0 with 11 knockouts. Ashkeyev, 154 lbs of Kazakhstan is 14-1.

Mrdjenovich Decisions Torres; Retains WBA Featherweight Title

Jelena Mrdjenovich defended her WBA Featherweight Decision with a 10-round unanimous decision over Iranda Torres.

In round five, Mrdjenovich was cut over her left eye from an accidental headbutt.

Mrdjenovich, 125 1/2 lbs of Edmonton, ALB, CAN won by scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94 and is now 41-10-2. Torres, 124 1/4 lbs of San Antonio, TX is 12-5-1.

Stephan Shaw remained undefeated with an eight-round unanimous decision over Lyubomyr Pinchuk in a heavyweight bout.

Shaw, 235 lbs of St. Louis, MO won by scores of shutout scores of 80-72 and is now 14-0. Pinchuk, 223 lbs of Lviv, UK is 12-2-1.

Kelvin Davis stopped Michael Honesto in round two of their scheduled four-round bout featuring debuting junior welterweights.

In round one, Davis dropped Honesto with a straight left hand. Honesto ended things when dropped Honesto again with two lefts and two right hooks to the head, and the fight was stopped at 27 seconds.

Davis, 140 lbs of Norfolk, VA is 1-0 with one knockout. Honesto, 140 lbs of Bakersfield, CA is 0-1.

Eduardo Baez won a eight-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Narek Abgaryan in a super bantamweight bout.

Despite being bloodied from his forehead that streamed down the front of his face and the back of his head, Baez won almost every round as the scores 80-72 twice and 79-73.

Baez, 123 lbs of Mexicali, MEX is now 18-1-2. Abgaryan, 120 lbs of Armenia is 14-1.
