The Pennsylvania Eastern Regional Golden Gloves (boxing) Championships, after a three-year hiatus, get back in the ring at the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia on April 30. The next generation of Philadelphia boxers will compete across 15 weight classes to showcase their skills, stamina, and agility, and chase their dreams on this special night. The winners of the Pennsylvania Eastern Regional Golden Gloves event will advance to the Pennsylvania State Championship.

Joe Hand Promotions is excited to present the Pennsylvania Eastern Regional Golden Gloves Championships. In addition, the event will support a new physical therapy office specializing in Parkinson’s disease at the new Joe Hand Gym in Feasterville.

“We are taking an innovative approach towards this disease with physical therapy based on both physical and mental exercises to slow down the disease,” said Joe Hand Sr., who is passionate about fighting this terrible disease. “We are doing our part to help alleviate any discomfort for anyone battling Parkinson’s.”

For many fighters, the Golden Gloves align with the path that needs to be taken to reach the Olympics and then eventually the professional ranks.

Over the years, a long list of great fighters won the Golden Gloves National Championship. A few of those names are Floyd Mayweather Jr., Oscar De La Hoya, Roy Jones Jr., Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Deontay Wilder, and Muhammad Ali, who was known as Cassius Clay at the time he won.

Pennsylvania has been very well represented, with many fighters advancing to win the Golden Gloves National Championship, including Meldrick Taylor, Rashiem Jefferson, Jaron Ennis, Jesse Hart, Miguel Cartagena, Christian Carto, and Stephen Fulton. These champions have shown that Philly has excellent talent that can compete nationwide.

Tickets at $25 are on sale through Joe Hand Promotions by calling 215-364-9000 or purchasing at the 2300 Arena door.
