Main Event – 10 Rounds Super Bantamweight
Brayan “Azteca” Rivera, 118.6 lbs., 11-3 9 KO’s, Ecatepec, Mexico vs.
Alejandro “Conejo” Gonzalez, 118.6 lbs., 12-5-2 7 KO’s, Mexico City, Mexico
Brayan Rivera: “I’ve been in the gym training for four months and I got the call for this fight about a month ago. I did take a couple days off for Christmas – some celebration with restrictions. In the couple losses prior to my last fight (a unanimous decision October 29 win) I learned that I have to be a little smarter and more mature when I face tougher opponents. Gonzalez is an experienced fighter with a very good amateur record. He has power. I don’t want to give any more details because he is sitting right next to me.”
Alejandro Gonzalez: “I got the call about six weeks ago for this fight. I had been training in Mexico City where there is a lot of talent for sparring. We know each other very well going back to the amateirs. Rivera is smart and also a knockout artist and has championship boxing experience. My style is not about one-punch power but it’s about combinations and being smart. I hurt my opponents with the combinations.”
Co-Feature – 8 Rounds Flyweights
Francisco Araujo, 108.5 lbs., 10-1, 7 KO’s Merida, Mexico vs
Ivan Garcia, 107.4 lbs., 8-2-1 5 KO’s, Mexico City, Mexico
Francisco Araujo: “Garcia is very tall. But I am ready to take the challenge. I got the call 3 weeks ago but was already trading long before that. I am always ready for a fight. I was training in high altitude. I usually fight at 50 kilos and I usually walk around close to that.I want to bring heavy volume into the fight and bring pressure.close distance . My style and the way that I hit I do not expect the fight to go the distance. I took the fight in 3 weeks because I wanted this opp.
Ivan “El Magnifico” Garcia: “I got the call 2 weeks ago, I had been preparing for another fight that we were negotiating so I was ready for this. I am always ready. When I got the call I had been working on another fight that I thought was going to happen. I looked at this opponent (Araujo) and he looks like a warrior. He looks strong and I see the fight developing at midrange.”
