Repton Boxing Club amateur standout Giorgio Visioli has signed a long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and expects to make his professional debut in October.

The 20-year-old from Aldershot will begin his professional journey campaigning at Lightweight after calling time on a glittering stint in the amateurs that saw him win two Senior ABA Championships at 60kg and 63.5kg.

“It’s a dream come true to sign with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing,” said Visioli. “I’ve waited a long time for this, trained hard and a taken all of my chances.

“Matchroom is the best promotional company in the world and I can’t wait to showcase my skills on the biggest platform live worldwide on DAZN.

“I boxed for Repton alongside Maieyrose Courtney. I had 45 fights and won 41 of those, becoming a two-time Senior ABA Champion at two different weights – 60kg and 63.5kg

“I also won a GB Tri-Nations gold medal, I got offered a GB spot but I didn’t take it because they’d taken my weight out of the Olympics. I think now is the best time to turn pro.

“I can’t wait to start my professional journey. We’re hoping to get my pro debut scheduled in for October – it’s not far away now. I’m looking forward to showing everyone what I’m about.

“Eddie and Frank has been in the sport for a long time and to have them backing me and guiding my career is huge and I’ll repay their faith in me. Let’s get this journey underway.”

“I’m delighted to welcome amateur star Giorgio Visioli to the Matchroom Boxing team,” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn. “IBF Flyweight king Sunny Edwards hasn’t stopped raving about Giorgio to me and it appears we have another future World Champion on our hands.

“Giorgio joins us from the famous Repton Boxing Club where he made a name for him in the amateur scene, winning multiple titles and impressing up and down the country and around the world. Keep an eye out for news on his professional debut dropping soon.”
