August 29, 2012 – Undefeated power puncher and Team Puerto Rico member, Jorge “Machito” Maysonet, Jr. (8-0, 7 KOs) will be seeing action off TV this Saturday, September 1, against journeyman, Bryan Abraham (6-13-2, 6 KOs). The fight will be taking place at the Turning Point Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York. The feature bout of the evening will be between WBA Middleweight Champion, Gennady Golovkin (23-0, 20 KOs) facing off against Grzegorz Proksa (28-1, 21 KOs).

“I know my opponent is ambidextrous, and he’s also a heavy puncher but the crowd can expect a lot of action on my part because I don’t like running,” said Maysonet, who is promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, Warriors Boxing and Universal Promotions. “I like fighting head on but I’m ready to obtain the victory by any means necessary.”

Maysonet will be fighting at the lightweight division in a bout scheduled for 8 rounds.

“The training has augmented in the sparring sessions, and in the intensity of the workouts, I believe that I will be stronger and more intelligent in the ring” said the young 22 year old fighter, who is trained by his father Jorge Maysonet Sr., a former world title contender.

“Machito” had a stellar amateur career, racking up 140 victories with only 10 defeats, with 40 wins coming by way of knockout. In his amateur boxing timeline, Maysonet won various local tournaments, most notably the “Isaac Barientos” and “José “Cheo” Aponte” competitions.

In the co-featured bout, heavy handed Puerto Rican knockout artist, Jonathan “Mantequilla” González (15-0, 13 KOs) will clash against former WBA light-middleweight World Champion, Sergiy “Razor” Dzinziruk (37-1, 23 KOs) from the Ukraine.

Both main event and co-main event bouts will be televised live on HBO BOXING AFTER DARK® beginning at 9:45 p.m. ET/PT.

This event is promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, Arthur Pelullo/Banner Promotions, K2 Promotions, Greg Cohen Promotions, Matchroom Sport, Warriors Boxing and Universal Promotions.
