Lightweight boxer 18 year old Teofimo Lopez recently won the United States Boxing Olympic trials in Reno Nevada, as the youngest boxer in his division. Where every champion in winning the tournament in Reno earned a right to be on the US Boxing Team. Just before the Olympic Trials Tournament in December the lightweight division was awarded to Carlos Balderas based on a ruling by AIBA the International Boxing Association and a stellar WSB season leaving Lopez to represent as an alternate.
In an effort to compete in Rio, Lopez has since requested a release from USA boxing and now will be representing his family's homeland of Honduras in Rio at the 2016 Olympics. Watch the video for more.
