This excellent evening of boxing is promoted by Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions in association with Rite Hook Promotions.

Headlining the telecast is an eight round middleweight showdown between Coyle and Travis “Dirty Red” Scott.

Splitting time between his native Ireland and St. Petersburg, FL, Coyle’s a perfect 8-0 with 3 wins by knockout. He’s become a big draw in the Tampa-St Pete area and most recently scored a sixth round TKO of Danny Pastrana. The talented Coyle has been featured as a prospect to watch out for by media members from both sides of the pond.

Junior welterweight Willian “Baby Face” Silva of Plant City, FL by way of Sao Paolo, Brazil challenges rugged Argentinian Juan Ramon Solis in a ten rounder.

Silva, who has an excellent 26-2 professional ledger and 15 wins by knockout, scored a dominant 9th round TKO over Jose Forero last October. After fighting most of his career at lightweight, Silva’s sights are set on the best at 140 pounds but he must first get past Solis.

Living and fighting out of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Solis is 25-13 with 9 KO’s. The 36-year-old’s faced many top fighters including world champion Robert Easter, contenders Sergio Thompson and Diego Silva along with unbeaten Saul Rodriguez among others.

Murfreesboro, TN (December 12, 2018) – Super middleweight rising star Sena “African Assassin” Agbeko scored a career best victory when he topped longtime contender Brian Vera, 26-14 (16 KO’s) Saturday, December 8.
The TriStar Boxing promoted event was Murfreesboro, TN’s first pro boxing card in more than 20 years and took place at the Mid-TN Expo.
Agbeko took a big step up in competition against Austin, TX’s Brian Vera. Vera, who has wins over Andy Lee, Sergiy Dzinziruk and Sergio Mora among others, looked to overwhelm Agbeko but the Nashville transplant wouldn’t be taken off his game.
Agbeko, who is originally from Ghana, worked behind a solid jab and straight right hand while displaying excellent movement to mostly keep Vera out of range. The gutsy Vera had a few moments of success but Agbeko weathered the storm and won convincingly.
Scores were 79-73 on all three scorecards.
“It feels good to have gotten this win, said Agbeko,” who is now 22-1 with 18 wins by knockout. “This was my first real step up and I’m looking forward to an even bigger challenge in my next fight. The goal is to keep moving up in the rankings and get in position for a title shot.”
Matt Young of TriStar Boxing Promotions was pleased with Agbeko’s performance and the return of boxing to Murfreesboro.
“Sena fought an excellent fight,” said Young, who works as a local firefighter and grew up in Murfreesboro. “We’re hoping to have him fight a ten rounder in his next fight against a respectable opponent. Fort Myers, FL (November 19, 2018) – Welterweight contender Bryant “Goodfella” Perrella recently returned from a two week training camp in Las Vegas, NV. Along with head trainer Michael Nowling and strength coach Pat Wilson, Perrella made his presence felt in multiple Sin City gyms.

During his trip, the Fort Myers, FL native sparred and worked out with some of boxing’s best, something Perrella acknowledges he needed to take his career to the next level.

“We’ve wanted to do this for a long time and I’m thrilled my team made this trip a reality. My time in Vegas showed me that I’ve got what it takes to compete with the best and this is the kind of training environment needed to be a top fighter.”

Perrella’s outstanding work ethic and boxing skills created a buzz during gym sessions. The man Perrella left the biggest impact on was none other than legendary trainer Jesse Reid.

“Jesse was on hand for my sparring sessions against a top fighter,” said Perrella. “He told me he was impressed with how I performed and asked how he could help me. We had a great talk and he’ll be joining Team Perrella as a coach. This is an incredible honor because Jesse worked with many of the all-time greats. His boxing brain and presence will have an immediate impact.”

Perrella, 15-2 (13 KO’s), is targeting a return in early 2019 and prefers to do so against a top opponent.

Nashville, TN (October 16, 2018) – Tri-Star Boxing Promotions will host Murfreesboro, TN’s first pro boxing card in more than a quarter century when they present “Beatdown in the Boro” Saturday, December 8 at The Mid-TN Expo Center.

Headlining is an intriguing eight round super middleweight showdown between Nashville’s Sena “African Assassin” Agbeko and longtime contender Bryan Vera of Austin, TX.

Originally from Accra, Ghana, the heavy-handed Agbeko’s outstanding professional record is 21-1 with 18 wins by knockout. In March, Agbeko outpointed Lawrence Blakey in Nashville and made it known he was eager to take on tougher opposition. Since defeating Blakey, Agbeko’s spent time training with many of the world’s top fighters in Las Vegas.

Recognized as one of the toughest and most exciting fighters on the planet, Vera’s never backed down from a challenge. His professional ledger is 26-13 with 16 wins by knockout and he’s been on boxing’s biggest stage multiple times. Vera has two wins against former world champion Sergio Mora along with knockout victories over former titlists Sergiy Dzinziruk and Andy Lee.

St. Petersburg, FL (October 11, 2018) – Welterweight Mark Reyes Jr. Captured the ABF Continental Americas title with a third round stoppage of Mexico’s Juan Garces Saturday, October 6.

“Night of Champions” was promoted by Fire Fist Boxing Promotions and the 11 bout card took place in front of a standing room only crowd at The Coliseum in St. Petersburg, FL.

The card was broadcast live on Fite.TV and featured ringside commentary from Fire Fist Boxing Promotions’ very own Connor “The Kid” Coyle.

With a large group of supporters on hand, Reyes got off to a fast start and buzzed Garces with a hard right cross in the opening stanza. The popular 22-year-old Tampa native had a clear speed advantage and was able to consistently beat Garces to the punch in the second, though Garces did land a few good shots.

At the beginning of round three, Reyes threw a body shot that accidentally landed on Garces’ inner thigh. Garces immediately crashed to the canvas and appeared to be in significant pain. After an extended delay, Graces couldn’t continue and Reyes was awarded a TKO victory.

“It was an accidental low blow but I hit him on the thigh,” Reyes said following the victory. “I hurt him to the body in the second and he tried to use this as an opportunity to quit because he didn’t want to fight.”

Reyes dedicated his victory to the Children’s Cancer Center of Tampa. Team Reyes raised funds for the Children’s Cancer Center by donating all proceeds from fight night merchandise sales.

Reyes is now 8-0 with 6 KO’s while Garces slips to 28-22 (18 KO’s).

Lightweight contender Willian “Babyface” Silva of Plant City, FL by way of Brazil became the ABF Continental Lightweight champion by dominating game Panamanian Jose Forero en-route to a 9th round stoppage. Silva displayed excellent boxing skills and was in complete control during the first eight rounds. In the 9th, Silva decked Forero hard and a follow up barrage forced the stoppage at 1:49.

Silva improves his professional ledger to 26-2 with 15 victories by KO. Forero is 13-8-1 (11 KO’s).

“I’m very pleased with the way Mark and Willian performed,” said Jody Caliguire of Fire Fist Boxing Promotions. “Mark was on his way to a stoppage victory and I truly believe his opponent was looking to pick up a disqualification win by adding some theatrics after being punched on the thigh. Willian put on an absolute clinic and is looking to get right back in with a top opponent in the very near future.”

Bantamweights Avril Mathie of Miami Beach, FL by way of Australia and Dallas, TX’s Samantha Salazar battled to a thrilling six round draw in a match up for the Women’s ABF Continental Americas 118 pound title. In what was without question the fight of the night, Mathie and Salazar fearlessly exchanged punches throughout the contest. After the final bell, both women were met with a round of applause.

Scores were 58-56 Mathie, 58-56 Salazar and 57-57.

Mathie is 2-0-1 with 2 KO’s and Salazar’s record is 5-5-1.

Junior middleweight Ozodbek Aripov of Fort Myers, FL earned a six round shutout victory over tough Miami, FL native Clifford Gray. Aripov, a physical fighter with a crowd friendly style, scored two knockdowns and never stopped moving forward.

All three judges scored the bout 60-52 for Aripov, who is now 4-0 (2 KO’s).

2016 Argentinean Olympian Alberto Palmetta, 9-1 (5 KO’s) stopped veteran Javier Garcia, 8-18-1 (3 KO’s), following the third third of a six round welterweight contest. The confident Palmetta displayed flashy skills and impressive ring generalship, pummeling Garcia from the opening bell.

Originally from Australia and now fighting out of Miami, FL at the Famous 5th Street Gym, Mathie is a globally recognized swimsuit model. She won Miss Hawaiian Tropic Australia in 2012, the 2014 Miss Swimsuit USA International as well as the 2015 Las Vegas International Model Search. Mathie however is more than just a pretty face.

The 31-year-old Mathie had 20 amateur boxing matches between her native Australia and the US. During her amateur career, Mathie regularly fought more experienced opponents and did so in a number of different weight classes while still winning most of her fights.

Mathie turned pro this past February and her record stands at 2-0 with both victories coming via first round KO’s. Her next opponent however is a significant step up in competition.

Born and raised in Dallas, TX, Salazar has a 5-5-1 record and is riding a three-fight win streak. She’s faced stiff competition including bouts against former Olympian Marlen Esparza, highly-touted Rosalinda Rodriguez and Casey Morton, all of whom are undefeated.

Former world champion and St. Petersburg native Noemi “La Rebelde” Bosques returns to her hometown for the first time in more than two years to face ultra-tough Crystal Hoy in a six round super flyweight contest for the ABF Continental Americas title.

Since turning pro in 2012, Bosques traveled the world to face many of the sport’s top fighters. She’s shared the squared circle with Kenia Enriquez, Heather Hardy (twice), Mariana Juarez, Lourdes Juarez, Alesia Graf and Rosalinda Rodriguez. The well-traveled Bosques fought all across the world including bouts in Mexico, New Zealand, China, India and various US cities.

Tampa, FL (August 24, 2018) – Connor “The Kid” Coyle was forced to withdraw from his October 6 bout as part of Fire Fist Boxing Promotions’ “Night of Champions” card in St. Petersburg, FL.

During his training camp in Ireland, Coyle’s back began to swell and cause him pain. The unbeaten 28-year-old battled through the back problems and continued training. Unfortunately, the pain got worse and aggressively spread throughout his body.

Coyle then checked into a local hospital. Doctors believe he has an inflammatory infection and ran a number of tests. In the interim, Coyle must refrain from training during the next 6 weeks.

“I’d like to sincerely apologize to my fans for being unable to compete,” said Coyle, who is 8-0 and coming off a dominant stoppage victory in June. “This is a bump in the road and I’ll be back more motivated to focus on another fight soon.”

Jody Caliguire of Fire Fist Boxing Promotions believes Coyle will come back strong when the time is right but is most concerned about his fighter’s current health.

“I feel terrible about this entire situation because Connor is like a son to me,” said Caliguire. “This is extremely unfortunate and Connor needs to get the proper rest to ensure his body is ready whenever he decides he’s healthy enough to return to training.”

Nashville, TN (August 1, 2018) – Edwin Reyes and Jesus Soler battled to an entertaining eight round draw in the main event of Tri-Star Boxing Promotions’ “Fight Night at Limelight” Saturday, July 28 in Nashville.

With a standing room only crowd cheering him on, Reyes moved up in weight to challenge for the UBF All-Americas 112 pound championship and had a significant size disadvantage. Known for his exciting style, the popular Nashville-based Guatemalan found success early with his signature volume punching. Later in the bout, the Arecibo, Puerto Rico based Soler neutralized Reyes by using his length and buzzed him with some hard shots to the head. There were also a few close rounds that could’ve gone either way as each man had moments of success.

In the end, Reyes’ early volume punching proceeded by Soler connecting with big shots left the three judges at a standstill as each official scorer had the bout 76-76.

Reyes is now 8-3-3 with 5 KO’s while Soler’s professional ledger stands at 9-1-1 (5 KO’s).

Super middleweight prospect Maidel Sando of Nashville scored an impressive four round unanimous decision over Ohio’s Rashad Scott in the co-featured bout of the evening.

Fighting for the first time at 168, Sando controlled the contest with well placed jabs, hard straight rights and keeping the shorter Scott out of range.

All three judges scored the bout 40-36 for Sando, who improved to 5-0 (3 KO’s). Scott is now 3-2.

Popular Nashville native Eduardo Aguiar and Posen, IL’s native Carl Currie brawled their way to an entertaining four round draw. Currie got off to a fast start but Aguiar battled his way back with crisp body-head combos that had fans at the edge of their seats from bell to bell.

Fort Myers, FL (July 25, 2018) – To say that welterweight Bryant “Goodfella” Perrella lives, eats and breathes boxing wouldn’t be an understatement.

The 29-year-old Fort Myers native trains year round, doesn’t drink or smoke and keeps a strict diet. When he’s not feverishly pounding away at the heavy bag, shadowboxing, sparring, or doing roadwork in the sweltering heat, Perrella’s likely at a fitness facility in Southwest Florida.

Residing in nearby Brooklyn, NY, the slick southpaw not only has the hometown advantage but the edge in experience having faced Shane Mosley, Keith Thurman, Andre Berto, Ricky Hatton, Victor Ortiz and Amir Khan among others.

Plant City, FL (July 23, 2018) – Highly rated middleweight and 2012 Olympic medalist Yamaguchi Falcao, 16-0 (7 KO’s), moved further up the rankings by outpointing WBO #14 Elias Espadas, 17-4 (12 KO’s), over ten rounds.

The bout took place Saturday, July 21 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas just prior to an HBO world title doubleheader.

Representing his native Brazil but living and fighting out of Plant City, FL, Falcao got off to a quick start by dropping his Yucatan, Mexico based foe in the second round with a crisp two punch combo. Falcao, a skilled boxer-puncher, battled through a rough and often dirty fight featuring headbutts, low blows and excessive holding. Falcao and Espadas did have some solid exchanges with both men landing nice shots, though Falcao was the more consistent fighter.

In the 10th round, Falcao hurt his foe with a right hook and backed him up against the ropes but the game Espadas weathered the storm until the final bell.

Scores were 96-92 twice and 95-93 for Falcao.

“I’m happy to get the victory even though it was a complicated and frustrating fight,” said Falcao, who ended Espadas’ 8 fight win streak. “It felt like I had to fight the referee and the crowd too but getting the win is what matters most.”

Ready, willing and able to face any middleweight on the planet, Falcao’s hoping his next fight comes against one of the division’s best.

“We want a title fight and it doesn’t matter which champion. I know this wasn’t the prettiest fight but I’m 100 percent confident I’ve got the skills to challenge anybody willing to give me the opportunity.”

Tampa, FL (June 13, 2018) – When unbeaten middleweight Connor Coyle entered the paid ranks, he was considered one of Ireland’s prized prospects. The Derry native medaled at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and generated a lot of interest from promoters across the globe.

Plant City, FL (May 5, 2018) – Unbeaten WBC #13 rated middleweight Yamaguchi Falcao is sick and tired of being avoided.

A Bronze Medalist at the 2012 Olympics representing his native Brazil, Falcao was in Canada last December helping David Lemieux prepare for his fight against WBO 160 pound champion Billy Joe Saunders. Falcao was made aware that middleweight Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan would serve as the televised co-feature for Lemieux-Saunders December 16 in Canada.

Upon hearing the news, Falcao and his team immediately offered to fight the more experienced O’Sullivan. The Irishman’s team reportedly did not want to face a southpaw and elected to fight Antoine Douglas. Frustrated but not deterred, Falcao kept training and hoped to face a fighter like O’Sullivan in the near future.

On May 4, O’Sullivan was again slated as the co-feature for a televised card, this time on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.
Hoping the second time would be a charm, Team Falcao made it clear they’d do whatever it took for the opportunity.
Unfortunately, O’Sullivan elected to face Berlin Abreu, a blown up welterweight that hadn’t fought in 18 months.

To make matters worse, all but once of Abreu’s victories came in the Dominican Republic against opponents with a combined 15-266 record. O’Sullivan stopped his overmatched foe in three rounds. Multiple media outlets covering the fight reported it as a disappointing mismatch while noting O’Sullivan needs to face better opposition.

With a professional record of 28-2, O’Sullivan’s rated 5th by the WBO, 6th by the WBA and 11th by the WBC.

Falcao, 15-0 (7 KO’s), believes he’s the superior boxer but hasn’t had the same chances as O’Sullivan and he’s literally willing to fight for the opportunity.

“Spike’s had a lot of favorable opportunities but when he has the chance to take on a tough challenge, he avoids it,” Falcao said from his training camp in Florida. “I twice tried to face him with no questions asked. Both times he refused to face me. I am ranked in the top 15 and you consider yourself a top fighter – why not face me? I want you to stop running from me – man up and fight me!”

With a physical and stylistic resemblance to boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, Resendiz built a strong fan base and rewards supporters with an all-action style. Originally from Mexico but now fighting out of St. Petersburg, Resendiz is 5-1 with 3 knockouts. He owns impressive wins over Mohamed El Marcouchi (2-0) and Raul Chirino (7-1), mercifully stopping the latter in a brilliant performance.

His lone defeat came under extremely seedy circumstances and many argue he should’ve won by disqualification. In that contest, Resendiz badly hurt unbeaten Joshua Pagan with a body shot in the final minute of the bout and looked for the knockout. A fan literally jumped onto the ring apron and took a swing at Resendiz’ head, forcing the referee to stop the fight and restore order. This also allowed Pagan unexpected time to recover and he ultimately claimed a split decision victory.

Plant City, FL (April 2, 2018) – Rising star and WBC #13 rated middleweight Yamaguchi Falcao scored a one-sided eight round decision over tough veteran Richar Gutierrez Saturday, March 31 at the Marina Bay SportsPlex in Quincy, MA.

Fighting in front of a national audience on ESPN2, the bout got off to a strange start when Gutierrez was incorrectly credited with a knockdown in the opening seconds after stepping on Falcao’s foot then landing a punch. The 2012 Olympic medalist immediately got back on his feet and made Gutierrez pay the price from bell to bell.

Falcao dominated the fight with hard jabs and crisp straight lefts, scoring a knockdown in the closing moments of the fifth. The game Gutierrez attempted to throw Falcao off by regularly clinching and using roughhouse tactics but was unsuccessful.

Scores were 79-73, 78-72 and 78-71.

Falcao is now 15-0 with 7 KO’s and Gutierrez falls to 30-18-2 (19 KO’s).

“Gutierrez was an experienced and sometimes dirty fighter,” said Falcao, who fights out of Plant City, FL and proudly represents his native Brazil. “I had a job to do and went out there and did it. Nashville, TN (March 19, 2018) – Rising prospect Sena “African Assassin” Agbeko put another victory in the books following a thoroughly dominant six round unanimous decision victory over veteran Lawrence Blakey Saturday, March 17 at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville.

The Agbeko-Blakey matchup headlined a seven fight card promoted by Tri-Star Boxing.

Backed by a large group of fans, Agbeko took his time in the early going against his larger but defensively-minded southpaw foe. After getting into a rhythm, the Nashville transplant took over with a solid jab and crisp straight rights. Agbeko maintained his pace through the final bell while Blakey offered very little offensively.

Scores were 60-54 twice and 59-55. Agbeko is now 21-1 with 18 KO’s. Blakey returns home to Pennsylvania 5-9-2 (2 KO’s).

Exciting junior flyweight Edwin Reyes won a thrilling 10 round split decision over Mexican veteran Armando Vasquez. Reyes, a Nashville transplant by way of Guatemala, threw a tremendous amount of punches while Vasquez found some success countering his aggressive foe. Ultimately, Reyes was the stronger and more consistent fighter.

Scores were 99-91, 97-93 Reyes and a surprising 96-94 for Vasquez.

Reyes improves to 8-3-2 with 5 KO’s while Vasquez slides to 25-21-1 (6 KO’s).

In undercard action, welterweight Luis Galarza returned to the ring and decisioned durable Matt Murphy. Following the bout, Galarza donated his purse to LifePoint Church. Locals Chuckie Driver, Maidel Sando and Yolexcy Leiva all earned victories as well.

Born and raised in Brazil but now fighting out of Plant City, FL under head trainer Jose Rodriguez, Falcao captured a Bronze Meadal at the London Olympics in 2012. The 30-year-old standout has been flawless thus far as a pro, compiling a 14-0 record with 7 victories by knockout. On May 5, 2017, Falcao impressively outpointed previously unbeaten Morgan Fitch (18-0-1) over ten rounds. Currently rated #13 by the World Boxing Council, Falcao meets one of the craftiest veterans in the 160 pound division.

A Miami based Colombian, Gutierrez is a 51 fight veteran. He’s faced a number of top fighters including Joshua Clottey, Alredo Angulo, Luis Carlos Abregu, Zaurbek Baysangurov, Yudel Johnson, Jonathan Gonzalez, Vanes Martirosyan and Gilberto Ramirez among others. At 30-17-2 with 19 KO’s, Gutierrez has only been stopped three times and is a former WBC Latino titlist. In his most recent bout, he held unbeaten Marcos Osorio to a draw in his native Puerto Rico.

Clearwater, FL (March 5, 2018) – Lightweight standout William “Babyface” Silva masterfully outclassed ultra-tough Arkansas based Guatemalan Rogelio “El Loco” Casarez to become the NBA World and IBO Continental lightweight champion Saturday, March 3 at Banquet Masters in Clearwater, FL.

Headlining a six bout card promoted by Fire Fist Boxing Promotions that was broadcast live across the world on Fite.tv, Silva was in control throughout the contest.

The Plant City, FL based Brazilian dictated the pace, peppering Casarez with jabs, straight rights, uppercuts and body punches. Casarez, who made multiple attempts to turn the match into a slugfest, repeatedly found himself on the end of Silva’s crisp punches. Casarez bled heavily from a cut that literally soaked the ring canvas but displayed tremendous heart and a remarkable chin.

All three judges scored the bout 100-90.

“I knew that Casarez was a tough opponent but I knew what I had to do to dictate this fight,” Silva said after his victory. “I’m pleased with my performance and want to fight the big boys at 135!”

With the victory, Silva improves to 25-1 with 14 KO’s. Casarez slides to 13-7 (5 KO’s).

Middleweight Antonio “T2” Tarver Jr. impressively overcame a 22 month layoff to down 14 fight veteran Carlos Dixon. Born and raised in Orlando, FL and now fighting out of Tampa, FL, Tarver Jr. quickly took control. After dominating the opening round, Tarver hurt Dixon in the second stanza and teed off until the bout was mercifully stopped.

With the victory, Tarver Jr. improves to 5-0 with 4 of those wins coming by knockout.

Popular cruiserweight Nick “The Showstopped” Iannuzzi of Tampa scored a highlight-reel third round knockout over Arkansas’ Lemarcus “Frieght Train” Tucker. Fighting for the first time in 3 ½ years, Iannuzzi looked to get reacclimated in the squared circle. Moments before the bell sounded to end round one, Iannuzzi dropped Tucker with a hard straight right hand.

In the third, Iannuzzi decked Tucker with another right. The game Tucker made it back to his feet but was in bad shape. Knowing a knockout was imminent, Iannuzzi put Tucker down for good with a massive right hand, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Iannuzzi improves to 19-4 (11 KO’s) as Tucker falls to 5-4-1 (3 KO’s).

Featherweight Ricky “Cowboy” Tomlinson of Thonotasassa, FL handed Baltimore, MD native Ernest “Lightning Bug” Hall his first defeat in an entertaining four round contest. With a huge group of supporters cheering him on, Tomlinson worked at a fast pace and was the busier fighter. Both fighters connected with clean shots in this action-packed bout but Tomlinson’s consistency earned him the victory by scores of 40-36 twice and 39-37.

Tomlinson ups his record to 6-3-1 with 2 knockouts and Hall slips to 3-1 (1 KO).
