Rodrigo Guerrero To Take On TakaHiro Shigee For The Vacant WBC Silver International Bantamweight Title This Saturday, July 26 on Televisa and FOX Deportes

LOS ANGELES (Jul. 24) – The summer heat won’t slow down the sizzling boxing action at the Centro De Espectaculos La Roca in Epazoyucan, México on Saturday, July 26, as Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo Promotions present a hard-hitting doubleheader featuring two championship fights that will be broadcast live on Televisa and FOX Deportes.

In the main event, former IBF Super Flyweight World Champion Rodrigo “Gatito” Guerrero of Ciudad Neza battles unbeaten Japanese contender Takahiro Shigee in a 12-round matchup for the WBC Silver International Bantamweight Title.

Plus, the WBA Female Minimumweight World Title is on the line when Naucalpan’s Anabel “Avispa” Ortiz defends her crown in a 10-round fight against Colombia’s Neisi “La Leona” Torres.

Southpaw Rodrigo “Gatito” Guerrero (20-5-1, 13 KOs) is a nine-year pro and one of Mexico’s top boxers on the current scene. A rugged competitor who has fought the best and never been stopped, the 26-year-old hit the top of the mountain in 2011 when he defeated Raul Martinez for the IBF super flyweight title. Now competing at 118 pounds, Guerrero has his sights set on another world title, and with wins in four of his last five bouts, he’s on the right track.

Fellow southpaw Takahiro Shigee (11-0-1, 9 KOs) is a hard-hitting prospect ready to take the leap to the next level this Saturday. A native of Kobe, Japan, the 22-year-old Shigee, who has won five of his last six bouts by knockout, is eager to take his show on the road and fight outside of his home country for the first time against Guerrero.

The latest Mexican fighter to take world title honors on the female side of the sport, 28-year-old Anabel Ortiz picked up the WBA title in 2013 with a decision win over previously unbeaten Etsuko Tada in Tokyo. 2-0 since the bout, with a title defense victory over Hye-Soo Park, Ortiz is coming off a 10-round win over Ivoon Rosas in April that lifted her pro record to 14-3 with two knockouts.

Baranquilla phenom Neisi Torres (12-2-1, 8 KOs) is one of the hardest punchers in the minimumweight division, and she’s only 20 years old. Unbeaten in four of her last five bouts, with the only loss coming to IBF super flyweight champion Debora Dionicius in March, Torres bounced back with a knockout of Yessica Perez earlier this month, and now she’s ready to challenge for a world title once again.

Guerrero vs. Shigee, a 12-round bout for the WBA International Bantamweight Title, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo Promotions and sponsored by Corona. Doors open at 5 p.m. CT and the first fight begins at 6 p.m. CT. The Televisa broadcast will air on Channel 5 and begins at 10:30pm ET and the FOX Deportes broadcast will air at 10:00pm ET/7:00pm PT.

Derek Ennis
PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 24, 2014)–This Friday night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, perennial Jr. Middleweight and Middleweight contender, Derek “Pooh” Ennis (24-4-1, 13 KO’s) will be back in action when he takes on Caleb Truax in the 10-round Middleweight co-feature that will be televised by ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.

Ennis of Philadelphia is the former USBA Jr. Middleweight champion, will be thrust back into the spotlight with opportunity to upset that apple cart of Truax (23-1-2, 14 KO’s) who is currently ranked number-11 by the IBF.

“Everything is going well and we trained very hard for this fight,” said Ennis.

“I saw him fight Ossie Duran (which Truax fought to a draw in his last bout that took place on January 3) and I see that he tries to come in and get a knockout.”

Ennis believes that his experience, which is career that started in 2007 will be the key for him to reign victorious.

“I have been on and off. I have been to number-1 and number-2 in the world. I know he is ranked but I am going to do what I do but after this win, I am going back down to 154 pounds for another run.”

Ennis has had opportunities and has come up a bit short and he knows that this could be a final chance in front of the national audience and he know the importance of a win on Friday night.

“This fight, I am going for the gusto. When I win, I will keep it moving. If for some reason, It doesn’t go well, I will have to take a look at the many job opportunities that I have received over the past little while but I am not ready to do that. I do consider this fight a make it or break it situation.”

“Being on television is a great opportunity for the fans to see me put on a this great performance and I have worked very hard for this. I just can’t wait to get in there on Friday,” finished Ennis.

Fight Network Presents Fury vs. Ustinov LIVE this Saturday at 2 p.m. ET

Toronto | New York – Fight Network, the world’s premier 24/7 television channel dedicated to complete coverage of combat sports, presents a live broadcast of the Frank Warren and Hennessy Sports-promoted mega show from the Phones 4 U Arena in Manchester, U.K., as hard-hitting British superstar Tyson Fury will face Belarusian power puncher Alexander Ustinov.

With live coverage beginning at 2 p.m. ET this Saturday, July 26, the title-stacked show also features Billy Joe Saunders in the biggest challenge of his career against undefeated Italian Emanuele Blandamura for the vacant European middleweight championship, exciting Liverpool light middleweight Liam Smith defending his British title against Jason Welborn, Manchester ace Terry Flanagan challenging Martin Gethin for the vacant British lightweight title, an exciting Manchester-Liverpool clash sees Jack Catterall face Nathan Brough for the vacant Central Area light welterweight championship, plus top talents Ronnie Heffron and Liam Williams collide in an eliminator for the British light middleweight title.

Ustinov is the 6-foot-7, 300-pound giant who Dereck Chisora, Fury’s original opponent, broke his hand against in sparring. Fury was left disappointed with Chisora’s withdrawal, but promoter Warren moved quick to ensure all Fury’s hard training hasn’t gone to waste by securing him a fight with the world-ranked Ustinov.

Fury, who himself has 16 KOs from 22 undefeated fights, says he’ll take out his anger and frustration on Ustinov for destroying his fight with Chisora.

He said, “The first thing is I’m happy to still be fighting this Saturday and that the fans will get what they paid for and see a good fight. We’ve had a hard training camp and I’m in the shape of my life, expecting to knockout Chisora, but now I’m going to have take it out on Ustinov and make sure he takes the full force of my anger. Chisora will now see what he was going to get on the night – knocked out. Strangely, I’m going to break the man who broke Chisora’s hand. Full credit for Ustinov for taking the fight, he’s a big lad, more importantly he’s a credible world ranked opponent and he must fancy his chances. We’re two gladiators, but he’s going to feel what it like against a world class heavyweight like me.”

Frank Warren added, “Under the circumstances, Ustinov is a brilliant replacement for Chisora at this late stage. He’s fit and ready after training and sparring for two weeks with Chisora at his gym, he’s got a great record, like Fury he’s giant of a man and has got some serious knockout punch power. Ustinov is world ranked inside the top ten of two major governing bodies and didn’t hesitate about fighting Fury which shows his confidence. Fury’s been preparing for a shorter man in Chisora and he’ll have to adjust his preparations, but with two huge men in the ring throwing big punches, anything can happen.”

Ustinov, a former kickboxing champion and MMA fighter, has won 29 out of 30 fights, with 21 ending by knockout and 13 coming inside three rounds. He’s world ranked in two of the major governing bodies: eight by the IBF and nine by the WBA. In his last fight, he ended the career of former world title contender David Tua, outpointing him to win the WBA Pan African championship. His sole loss was to Kubrat Pulev in September 2012 in a European title challenge.

Fight Network’s live broadcast will air on Cablevision’s Optimum TV in the U.S., nationwide in Canada and internationally in over 30 countries across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

BOXING’S BIGGEST SUPERSTAR MAYWEATHER LANDS BACK ON HIS BRITISH HOME AS BOXNATION SECURES THRILLING MAIDANA REMATCH

Floyd Mayweather 2
LONDON (July 24) – Pound-for-pound star Floyd Mayweather will return to his British home of BoxNation with his thrilling September rematch with Argentine assassin Marcos Maidana to be screened live and exclusive on the channel.

The highly charged showdown will be the fifth Mayweather megafight in a row to be shown on BoxNation as ‘The Channel of Champions’ proves that it is once again the undisputed home of big-time boxing.

Following their initial clash in May, which proved to be one of Mayweather’s toughest to date as he pulled through on a majority decision, the pair will lock horns once again at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 13th.

The world’s highest paid athlete, surpassing the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, ‘Money’ Mayweather knows he will need to be at his best if he wants to preserve his unblemished record.

“Marcos Maidana is a tough customer and he gave me a fight that had me work for the victory,” said Mayweather. “His style is difficult at best, but with experience comes a way and will to win. I’m not one to give second chances in the ring, but I want to give the fans what they want to see. I will be as prepared as I always am when I step in the ring on September 13. I only see the outcome one way and that’s another successful night for me and my team.”

Recognised as one of boxing’s hardest-hitters Maidana will be drawing confidence from the fact he proved more than just a thorn in the side of the sport’s biggest draw the first time around, as he promises to hand Mayweather his first loss.

“The rematch with Mayweather is the only fight that really motivates me,” said Maidana. “I feel I earned it in the ring and Floyd owed it to me. I’ve already proved that I don’t care if the man I have in front of me is the best pound-for-pound champion. I was close to ending his reign last time. On September 13 he will not get away undefeated.”

The card, being dubbed as ‘Mayhem’, will join a host of top fights that have already featured live on BoxNation this year, including Mayweather’s initial battle with Maidana and Manny Pacquiao’s stunning rematch win over Tim Bradley.

“There is no validity to their claim that an agreement exists between myself and their promotional company. Fight Network Presents Golden Boy LIVE: Gomez vs. Paris Friday, July 25 at 11 p.m. ET

frankie-gomez
Toronto – Fight Network, the world’s premier 24/7 television channel dedicated to complete coverage of combat sports, presents a Friday edition of Golden Boy Live! on July 25 at 11 p.m. ET as unbeaten Frankie “Pitbull” Gomez looks to live up to his hype as the most dangerous prospect in the junior welterweight division when he faces his toughest challenge yet against Florida’s Vernon Paris in the 10-round main event at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif.

Fight Network’s broadcast will air live exclusively in Canada.

In the co-main event, Mexican bantamweight phenomenon Ivan Morales looks to secure his 26th victory without a loss when he faces off against countryman Sergio “Finito” Frias, plus opening up the televised portion of the card will be an eight-round middleweight bout between 2012 U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha and Oklahoma’s Ronnie Warrior Jr.

“We are so proud of the success of the Golden Boy Live! series to date and July 25th will be no exception,” said Oscar De La Hoya, president and founder of Golden Boy Promotions. “We are thrilled to provide a national television platform for rising stars such as Frankie Gomez and Vernon Paris to continue their mark on the sweet science.”

Gomez vs. Paris, a 10-round junior welterweight bout, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions. Fight Network’s broadcast airs live at 10:00 p.m. ET.

After a stellar amateur career, East Los Angeles’ Frankie “Pitbull” Gomez (17-0, 13 KOs) has made a steady rise in the ranks of the 140-pound weight class since turning professional in 2010. At just 22 years of age, sweet science insiders already expect him to make his move into the title picture within the next 12 months. To do that, he has to follow up his last four victories over Pavel Miranda (KO1), Lanard Lane (W10), Prince Doku Jr. (TKO1) and Orlando Vazquez (KO2) with another impressive showing against Paris, his toughest test to date on July 25.

A native of the boxing-rich city of Detroit, 26-year-old Vernon Paris (28-1, 16 KOs) has one thing on his mind heading into his July 25 bout with Frankie Gomez – handing the Californian his first professional defeat. And if anyone has the talent and desire to do it, it’s Paris, a former USBA champion whose only loss came against multi-division former world champion Zab Judah in 2012. Since then, Paris has won two fights straight and he’s looking for three at Fantasy Springs.

Twenty-two-year-old Tijuana native Ivan “Nino Maravilla” Morales (25-0, 14 KOs) is a top Mexican prospect that hopes to add to his nation’s rich boxing history by becoming a world champion in the coming years. While he’s still young, his efforts thus far have shown him to be a mature fighter with a seemingly endless list of positive attributes. Coming off of a 10-round win over 40-fight veteran Jose Alfredo Tirado in April, Morales heads to Southern California this week to square off against Frias and showcase his skills.

Sergio “Finito” Frias (15-3-2, 8 KOs) is a four-year professional who is unbeaten in his last three fights. A rugged brawler who knows how to mix it up in the ring, the 23-year-old Guadalajara native is ready for a big night in which he makes his Golden Boy Live! and United States debut against one of the top talents in the bantamweight division.

2012 United States Olympian Terrell Gausha (10-0, 5 KOs) has been one of the most impressive members of the class of 2012 thus far. He’s already scored wins over George Sosa, Charles Whittaker and James Winchester in 2014. With Johnny Manziel and LeBron James making recent headlines in Gausha’s hometown of Cleveland, the 26-year-old wants to be the next big name in the sports-rich city. This week, he meets Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Ronnie “The Natural” Warrior Jr. (15-8-1, 5 KOs) in an eight-round fight. Winner of two straight, the 37-year-old Warrior Jr. has some gas in the tank to beat a hot prospect like Gausha.

Mayweather gets a Nevada promoter’s license

Floyd Mayweather
According to Dan Rafael of espn.com. pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather’s Mayweather Promotions received it’s promotional license in his home state of Nevada on Wednesday.

“We want to get things done the right way and continue to bring big fights to Las Vegas even when my career is over,” Mayweather, who lives in Las Vegas, told the commission. “We can continue to do record-breaking numbers after I’m gone by doing it the right way.”

“We’re very excited as a team. We’ve taken our time and that’s been the most important thing, putting the right pieces in place,” Mayweather Promotions chief executive Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com following the hearing. “I have a tremendous staff and we have the necessary pieces in places to be very successful.”

“Timing is everything,” he said. “We’ve been working with Golden Boy for a number of years and gained invaluable experience working hand in hand with them. We’ve taken over a number of different processes and been hands on. Now things are pretty much turn key.”

“This is the best packet I’ve seen put forward in terms of completeness,” commissioner Bill Brady told them. “This application is as good as I’ve seen.”

Added commissioner Pat Lundvall: “This is an excellent application. It demonstrates a respect for the commission.”

Commissioner Skip Avansino called Mayweather and Ellerbe “wonderful role models for the sport.”

Ellerbe said he appreciated the commission’s kind words and approval.

“They’re a very detail-oriented commission and the application you have to give them is very, very detailed,” he said. “They are the best commission in all of boxing. They look at every aspect of your business, from top to bottom. It’s like 20-some pages. We took it seriously. It’s an honor to have a license in the state of Nevada.”

CLUB 1957 MANAGEMENT SIGNS HEAVYWEIGHT JOEY DAWEJKO

Philadelphia (July 23, 2014) – Mark Cipparone’s Club 1957 Management is proud to announce the signing of Heavyweight contender Joey Dawejko to an exclusive managerial contract.

The 24-year old Dawejko has a record of 10-3-2 with three knockouts and is currently riding a two fight winning streak.

The native of Philadelphia won the World Jr. Amateur championships in 2008. He had am amateur record of 56-12 and besides winning the world championships, he also captured the National under-19, a 3-time national PAL champ as well as a Jr. Golden Gloves champion.

In his amateur career he had wins over Lenroy Thompson as well as current undefeated professional Heavyweights Bryant Jennings and Jordan Shimmell.

He turned professional in 2009 with a 6-round unanimous decision over Royphy Solieau. He won his first six bouts (and was 7-0-1 in his first eight) which included knockout wins over undefeated fighters Ricardo Johnson and John Lennox.

Dawejko is not afraid to take on top competition as nearly half of his fights have been against undefeated fighters.

In his last two bouts, Dawejko has been coming into his own with his two biggest wins when he scored a unanimous decision over former top-ten heavyweight contender Derric Rossy as well as his last bout when he scored an impressive unanimous decision over undefeated Philadelphian Mark Rideout on May 16.

“I think it’s a great deal for both of us. Mark is a great guy and I am looking forward to working with him. He is behind his fighters 100% and he has surrounded himself with an excellent team and I believe with all of this in place, the sky is the limit for my potential.”, Said Dawejko

Everyone knows that Joey can Fight! My team and I are on another mission as Joey has made the ULTIMATE decision to put boxing before ALL and yes he has! Just watch us climb to the top! Keep your eye on this guy. He is coming”, said Club 1957 Management’s Mark Cipparone

“With his With his new management team in place Joey has committed 100 percent to boxing. A far cry away from the balancing act this tough boxer endured for the last several years working a hard 8 to 10 hrs a day as a roofer in extreme weather conditions. It certainly takes a toll on your body. And to win fights too is incredible to say the least. Now Joey is able to do 3 workouts a day and actually get in fight shape…now that is scary!!!” finished Cipparone.

Dawejko, is promoted by Peltz Boxing, will be back in action on August 2 when he takes on David Williams at Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.

With Krasimir Mladenov injured, Cully Butterfield vs. Ronny Markes, Elvis Mutapcic vs. Kelvin Tiller booked for World Series of Fighting 12

LAS VEGAS (July 23) – With undefeated Bulgarian standout Krasimir Mladenov (10-0) forced to withdraw from next month’s “World Series of Fighting 12: Palomino vs. Gonzalez” event, submission ace Kelvin Tiller (6-0) has agreed to drop down to 195 pounds and meet Elvis Mutapcic (13-3) in a catchweight affair.

That switch left Brazilian veteran Ronny Markes (14-3) without an opponent for the night’s co-main event, but promotional newcomer Cully Butterfield (13-3) has agreed to step in to fill the void.

The two new matchups now complete the five-fight main card for “World Series of Fighting 12: Palomino vs. Gonzalez,” which takes place Aug. 9 at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The two-hour NBCSN broadcast kicks off at 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT local time). Preliminary contests will be announced shortly and will stream live on NBCSN.com.

Tickets for “World Series of Fighting 12: Palomino vs. Gonzalez” start at just $39 and are on sale now at AXS.com.

The 26-year-old Ronny Markes is a member of Brazil’s famed Nova Uniao fight team, home to some of the top fighters in the world. Markes returns to the 205-pound division, where he won 12 of his 13 bouts as a professional before embarking on a four-fight run at middleweight. He now meets Cully Butterfield, a Wisconsin native who fights out The Grind Fitness Factory. “The Mason” turned pro in 2009, and while he opened his career with a respectable 3-2 record, he’s since gone 10-1 in his past 11 appearances. Additionally, 10 of his 13 career wins have come by way of stoppage.

Kelvin Tiller is perfect through the first six fights of his career and now looks to prove himself on a national stage. Tiller has earned four of his six wins by submission, and three of those came in the opening round. He now faces Elvis Mutapcic, who was a member of World Series of Fighting’s inaugural middleweight championship tournament but suffered a decision loss to tourney finalist Jesse Taylor. Still, Mutapcic is 5-1 in his past six career outings, and 11 of his 13 career wins have come by knockout or submission. Meanwhile, the durable fighter has never been finished, as all three of his losses came by way of decision.

TOP CONTENDERS MEET AS ‘JACARE’ SOUZA TAKES ON GEGARD MOUSASI ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 AT FOXWOODS® RESORT CASINO

ufc_title-belt_206
Las Vegas, Nevada – The UFC® returns to Connecticut for the first time in nearly a decade on Friday, September 5 at Foxwoods® Casino Resort in Mashantucket, Conn. with a five-round main event pitting two of the best middleweights against one another as fourth-ranked Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza takes on seventh-ranked Gegard Mousasi in a bout that could determine the division’s next title contender. The UFC’s last visit to the state saw Andrei Arlovski knock out Paul Buentello in just fifteen seconds of the very first round to defend the UFC heavyweight championship at UFC 55 on October 7, 2005.

Currently riding a six-fight win streak, and undefeated inside the Octagon, (No. 4) “Jacare” (20-3, 1 NC, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) will look to continue his climb toward a UFC title shot with a victory in September. A former STRIKEFORCE® middleweight champ with victories over Robbie Lawler, Tim Kennedy and Francis Carmont, “Jacare” is also looking to avenge a previous loss to Mousasi and solidify his spot as a title contender. A long-time dominant light heavyweight and former STRIKEFORCE champ, Mousasi (35-4-2, fighting out of Leiden, Holland, The Netherlands) has won five of his last six bouts and boasts career wins over Mark Munoz, Mark Hunt, Ovince Saint Preux, as well as a KO victory in the 2008 meeting against Souza. The winner of the bout could potentially set themselves up as the frontrunner in the wide open 185-pound division against current champ Chris Weidman.

In addition, a heavyweight slugfest will feature (No. 7) Alistair Overeem (37-13, 1NC, fighting out of Amsterdam, The Netherlands) colliding with Ben Rothwell (33-9, fighting out of Kenosha, Wis.). With an astonishing 64 finishes between the two giants, fans won’t want to blink, as this bout has “Fight of the Night” written all over it.

Also in the heavyweight division, former pro football defensive tackle Matt Mitrione (7-3, fighting out of Boca Raton, Fla.), who is coming off a “Performance of the Night” knockout victory over Shawn Jordan, will look to continue his winning ways when he meets surging contender Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis (11-2, 1NC fighting out of Houston, Texas.) who is also fresh off of a first-round knockout victory.

Other bouts for UFC Fight Night include:
· Local fan-favorite Joe Lauzon (23-10, fighting out of Bridgewater, Mass.) against The Ultimate Fighter: Live winner, Michael Chiesa (11-1, fighting out of Spokane Valley, Wash.) in the lightweight division.

Providence, R.I’s own Sean Soriano (8-1, fighting out of Boca Raton, Fla.) vs. featherweight knockout artist Andre Fili (13-2, fighting out of Sacramento, Calif.).
No. 9-ranked featherweight contender Nik Lentz (27-6-2, 1NC, fighting out of Coconut Creek, Fla.) vs. submission specialist and No. 14-ranked Charles Oliveira (18-4, 1NC, fighting out of Houston, Texas) in a highly-anticipated rematch.

UNDEFEATED IVAN MORALES TO BE FEATURED IN CO-MAIN EVENT AGAINST FELLOW COUNTRYMAN SERGIO FRIAS ON FOX SPORTS 1 & FOX DEPORTES THIS FRIDAY, JULY 25, AT FANTASY SPRINGS RESORT CASINO IN INDIO, CALIF.

INDIO, CALIF. (July 23) – Mexican bantamweight phenomenon Ivan Morales looks to secure his twenty-sixth victory without a loss on Friday, July 25 when he faces off against countryman Sergio “Finito” Frias in the co-main event of FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes’ Golden Boy Live! fight night at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif.

On hand for all the action will be the legendary Erik “El Terrible” Morales who will cheer on his brother Ivan and meet and greet fans as the evening’s special VIP guest.

In the main event, unbeaten junior welterweight Frankie “Pitbull” Gomez will be pushed to the limit by veteran contender Vernon Paris and opening up the televised portion of the card will be an eight-round middleweight bout between 2012 U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha and Oklahoma’s Ronnie Warrior Jr.

Gomez vs. Paris, a 10-round junior welterweight bout, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Corona, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Golden Ram Group. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first fight will begin at 5:05 p.m. The FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes broadcast airs live at 11:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. PT.

Tickets, priced at $45, $35 and $25, are available for purchase at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, by calling (800) 827-2946 or online at www.fantasyspringsresort.com.

Looking to bounce back from the first loss of his career to Eddie Gomez in January, Orlando’s Daquan Arnett (11-1, 7 KOs) is set for an eight-round junior middleweight matchup against Gary, Indiana’s Angel Hernandez (16-16-1, 13 KOs). Before the Gomez bout, the 21-year-old Arnett defeated three prospects in a row and he’s aiming for a big win on July 25 against Hernandez, a veteran armed with experience and knockout power.

Three hot prospects will put their perfect professional records on the line this week as well, with Racine, WI featherweight Mario Barrios (4-0, 1 KO) facing Salvador Perez (2-4-2, 1 KO) of Campeche, Mexico, Buenos Aires junior welterweight Damian Sosa (7-0, 6 KOs) will make his professional U.S. debut against Ryan Picou (1-3) of Los Angeles in a six-round junior welterweight bout and and North Hollywood native Vyacheslav Shabranskyy (9-0, 8 KOs) will face Demetrius Walker (7-5-1, 4 KOs) of Kansas City.
A respected amateur standout who competed in the 2012 U.S. Olympic trials, Fort Myers, Florida’s Bryant Perrella (5-0, 4 KOs) has stopped four of his five professional opponents thus far, most recently halting previously unbeaten Benito Tovar in a single round in May. On Friday, he will seek his third victory of 2014 against 26-year-old Philadelphian Christian Steele (4-8-2, 1 KO), who is unbeaten in two of his last three.

In middleweight action, popular Palmdale, Calif. resident Neeco Macias (5-0, 1 KO) looks to make it six straight in a four-round bout against Inglewood’s Robert Hill (1-5) and in the four-round super middleweight opener, Nashville, Tenn. native Caleb Plant (3-0, 1 KO) faces Los Angeles’ Ryan True (1-1-1, 1 KO).

Ross “The Boss” Burkinshaw looks to gain foothold in Super Flyweight division

Former BBBofC English Super Flyweight titleholder Ross “The Boss” Burkinshaw has officially made his return to the division in which his career began.

Burkinshaw, a British Army veteran and former second battalion infantryman, fought his way up the ladder at the 115lb/52.2kg weight limit, and capped his bolstering rise to the top with a fierce seventh-round body shot knockout over Mike Robinson.

This win, on the most sacred occasion of St. Georges’ Day, was excellent for Burkinshaw, who was on a real tear. He had become one of the most feared Junior Bantamweights in Britain, and was closing in on a world ranking. Everything came to a stop with a TKO defeat to Lee Haskins.

Afterwards, “The Boss” quickly rebounded, thrice turning in victories before hitting another bump, and this was Ross’ lowest point, at the conclusion of 2013, having only three fights in nearly the same number of years due to injury, and losing them all.

Recovery, rededication, and motivation lead a wholehearted warrior back to his natural habitat — the ring — through all of his endeavours, it’s one place where everything stays the same, but is uncomplimentary to any man looking for a walk in the park. This place suits his disposition.

In 2014, Burkinshaw has won three straight, and it is all or nothing heading into his 28th year. It’s not the toughest challenged his encountered, but one he’ll take on with a smile.

Now, it’s time to capitalize on his accomplishment, link together a few more crucial victories, and position himself in the title picture.

He’s faced larger tests than this, more inimitable than those produced in the ring, unstaged by promoters and irreconcilable by an exchange of fisticuffs. Of course, this is about something much different, more sovereign to the heart and soul than to the brain.

Sacrifices have been made, and lessons have been learned, while “The Boss” promises to entertain while focusing on keeping the tactfulness expected from someone of his stature in the game. Trainer Ryan Rhodes has been impressed by his improvements as a boxer.

He has no regrets or remorse for the fights he have taken. They taught him new things about the sport of boxing, and pointed out the changes he had to make.

Now, it may be Burkinshaw’s last chance to chase his dreams, and put them in the bag, with a belt around his waist.

As a loving father, husband, and valued military veteran, his tenor is not under dispute, but a personal bourn remains to be settled.

On the 13th of September, the comeback continues in perhaps one of the most must-win fights of his career. Defeat cannot be accepted for one of the best guys in boxing, for he is boxing in front of his home crowd in Sheffield, and needs to find his way back into championship contention, and in what better way can it be done?

Follow @Rosstheboss_b on Twitter and check out his website, www.rossthebossburkinshaw.co.uk for ticket information and to buy “The Boss” clothing and memorabilia!

Ross Burkinshaw would like to thank Dennis Hobson, a terrific promoter and friend who will help guide him to the top.
