Hector Gabriel Flores stopped former world title challenger Jay Harris in round six of their 10-round light flyweight bout at the Vale Sports Arena in Cardiff, Wales

In round six, Flores dropped Harris with a left to the body. Later in the round, Flores landed a left to the body that sent Harris to a knee and the fight was stopped at 132.

Flores, 107.5 lbs of Tijuana, MEX is 19-0-4 with 10 knockouts. Harris, 108 lbs of Swansea, WAL is 18-3.

Robinson Decisions Dragone

Jacob Robinson won a 10-round decision over Angelo Dragone in a featherweight fight.

In round six, Robinson was deducted a point for holding. In round eight. Robinson landed a perfect right uppercut to the chin of Dragone, who started to look like a beaten man with his right eye a bloody mess.

Robinson, 125.6 lba of Cardiff won by a 95-94 score and is now 9-2. Dragone, 126 lbs of Wales is 5-3.

Ennis-Brown decisions Combi

Akeem Ennis-Brown won a 10-round unanimous decision over Daniel Alejandro Combi in a junior welterweight bout.

In round five, Ennis-Brown was cut around the right eye.

Ennis-Brown of England won by scores of 99-91 and 98-92 twice and is now 15-1. Combi of Argentina is 9-5.

Kyran Jones won a four-round decision over Ivan Fleischhauser in a middleweight bout.

Jones registered a first-round knockdown.

Jones, 163 lbs of Wales won by a 40-35 score and is now 2-0. Felischhauser, 160 lbs of Russia is 1-10.

Ben Crocker stopped Sultan Ahmet in round two of their four-round welterweight bout.

In round two, Crocker dropped Ahmet with a hard right to the body. The towel was thrown in and the fight was stopped at 54 seconds .

Crocker, 149 lbs of Swansea, WAL is 2-0 with one knockout. Ahmet, 148.4 lbs of England is 0-1.

LESS THAN three weeks until their British and Commonwealth title fight, Akeem Ennis-Brown and Sam Maxwell today went head-to-head for the first time – and it all kicked off.

Ennis-Brown (14-0, 1 KO) defends his titles against Maxwell (15-0, 11 KOs) on show entitled ‘Night Of Champions’ at the Utilita Arena Birmingham on August 28, live on BT Sport.

SAM MAXWELL says the delay to his big fight against Akeem Ennis-Brown has worked in his favour.

Gloucester’s Ennis-Brown  (14-0, 1 KO) was due to defend his British and Commonwealth Super-Lightweight titles against Maxwell in March, but pulled out injured days before they were due to meet.

He will now make the first defence of his titles against Maxwell (15-0, 11 KOs) at Utilita Arena, Birmingham on Saturday August 28, live on BT Sport.

Maxwell had to be content with a non-title points win over Ben Fields when Ennis-Brown pulled out, but he couldn’t be happier.

He joined Manchester trainer Steve Maylett shortly before their clash was scheduled giving them little time together.

Maxwell explained: “It was a blessing in disguise that Akeem pulled out. I was a bit gutted at the time because it was my first top of the bill and I was ready to go.

“But, I’d only had five weeks with Steve. I’d been doing stuff with Danny Vaughan and on my own.

“Now I have had five months with Steve and it has worked out for me well.

“Steve told me that had it been anybody else with five weeks’ notice for a British title fight he wouldn’t have taken them on.

“He did because he’d known me well for 15 years and I used to go to the gym and spar with Terry Flanagan. Steve realised I needed something. He knew me and liked me so he took me on.

“When I first went to him and the fight was around the corner, Steve said; ‘I can give you tactics, tell you how I want to fight and get you fit for 12 rounds’.

“That is all we focused on for those few weeks. Now we have a long time to get things right with the game plan. I know if I follow that through I will win this fight.

“Steve is a really good tactician and what he wants is going to work. It is about me following orders and making sure I deliver on fight night.”

“I am very good at the basics, a very good technical boxer. That has got me where I am and I can punch. I am going to perform and I can’t wait to show everyone.”

Hall-Of-Fame Promoter Frank Warren’s Queensberry are bringing a stacked card, including THREE British title fights, to the Utlilita Arena, Birmingham on Saturday August 28, live on BT Sport.

Anthony Cacace will defend against Lyon Woodstock, Akeem Ennis-Brown against Sam Maxwell and Ijaz Ahmed and Kaisy Khademi will contest the vacant British Super-Flyweight title.

Warren said: “It is one of the most evenly matched fights anywhere this year, but we want to give Brad every advantage.

SAM MAXWELL has branded arch rival Akeem Ennis-Brown; “Nasty and weird.”

The Liverpool man gets his chance to have the final word when he challenges for Ennis-Brown’s British and Commonwealth Super-Lightweight titles on Friday March 26, live on BT Sport.

Maxwell (14-0, 11 KOs) believes the Gloucester man has been encouraged to wind him up by trash talking Ohara Davies.

Ennis-Brown (14-0, 1 KO) who will be making his first defence of the titles he won by defeating Philip Bowes last September has been sparring with Davies ahead of the crucial challenge.

Maxwell said: “Akeem is probably getting his advice from Ohara, they’re just two fools. I will deal with him and then I will deal with Ohara.

“Sometimes Akeem is respectful, but sometimes goes the Ohara route and is disrespectful. It’s nasty and weird.

“I’m ready for his mind games where he’s trying to get any edge he can. I’m more mature and wont let him get in my head.

“He keeps calling me ‘son’ like he’s my Dad, but I respect him and I’m leaving no stone unturned in the gym.

“Frank Warren has delivered this title shot and I am going to give it my all and become champion.”

Former GB amateur star Maxwell has moved to new trainer Steve Maylett, a switch that he believes will pay dividends now and in the future.

Sam, 32, added: “Steve has taken me on at late notice, but we have bonded so well. It’s a great team and I feel part of them.

“It wasn’t ideal to start, but I am more than happy and it’s starting to pay off.

“It’s short notice so Steve isn’t changing too much, but there are little things that will pay off.

“I think I can knock Akeem out. Steve has been saying I don’t need to put power in my shots because it’s there. 

“I carry my power and he has something to worry about from round one to 12. Akeem doesn’t have the same thunderous power as me. Taking a lot will damage him as well.”

Although Maxwell dismisses Ennis-Brown’s crass chat and believes he’ll get the KO win, the challenger does have some praise for the champion.

“Maybe he has had to take more gambles than me as a pro. He hadn’t done it as an amateur and perhaps had to take harder fights to get his shot,” he said.

“Akeem has the better resume than me. He has had to have hard fights and come through them.

“He is really good at what he does. He throws a lot of shots, is very fit, unorthodox and awkward. He gets people to fight his fight.

“The KO stats might be a little misleading, but that doesn’t hide the fact that I punch harder than him and the power is with me.

“But, at this level anyone can punch. He will hit hard and I respect his power, but the edge is with me in that department.”

In round eight, Bowes was deducted a point for low holding.

Ennis-Brown, 139 lbs won by scores of 115-112 twice and 116-111 and is now 14-0. Bowes, 140 lbs of London is 20-4.

Dan Azeez stopped Andre Sterling in round nine of a scheduled 10-round light heavyweight bout.

In round six, Azeez landed a right that put Sterling down. Azeez continued the beatdown until the towel was thrown in at 1:59 of round nine.

Azeez, 174 lbs of London is 12-0 with eight knockouts. Sterling, 174 lbs of London is 11-3.

Padraig McCrory remained undefeated by blasting out Mickey Ellison in 70 seconds of their eight-round super middleweight fight.

McCrory landed a huge right that sent Ellison down for the count at 1:10.

McCrory, 170 lbs is 11-0 with five knockouts. Ellison is 12-3.

Elliot Whale stopped Cory McCulloch in the opening round of a scheduled six-round bout featuring undefeated welterweights.

Whale landed a perfect left to the body that dropped McCulloch. McCulloch got to his feet, but was in no condition to continue at 1:57

Whale, 150 lbs of Sidcup, UK is 3-0 with one knockout. McCulloch, 149 lbs of Arbrough, SCO is 4-1.

Harlem Eubank scored a last-minute stoppage over Martin McDonage of their super lightweight bout.

Eubank landed a hard right that sent McDonage to the canvas, and the fight was stopped at 2:36

Eubank, 143 lbs of Brighton is 10-0 with three knockouts. McDonage, 142 1/4 lbs is 8-2.

Mark McKeown stopped Levi Dunn in the final round of their four-round featherweight bout.

McKeown beat up Dunn until the fight was stopped at

McKeown, 127 lbs is 3-0 with one knockout. Dunn, 127 3/4 lbs is 0-1.

(August 31, 2020) — The Commonwealth super lightweight king, Philip Bowes, hopes to add more hardware to his collection. Bowes will defend his belt in a 12-rounder against the unbeaten Akeem Ennis Brown this Wednesday, Sept. 2 from Production Park Studios in Wakefield, England. The vacant British title will also be at stake. 
 
Bowes-Ennis Brown will headline an #MTKFightNight card that will stream live and exclusively on ESPN+ beginning at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.
 
Bowes (20-3, 3 KOs) has not fought since March 2019, when he decisioned Tom Farrell in the first defense of his Commonwealth title. Less than two months prior, he knocked out Benson Nyilawila in two rounds to win the vacant belt. Bowes and Ennis Brown were scheduled to fight March 20, but the COVID-19 pandemic scuttled those plans. Ennis Brown (13-0, 1 KO) is a former WBC Youth and IBF European champion at 140 pounds, most recently notching a near-shutout decision over the previously unbeaten Bilal Rehman in March 2019.

Said Ennis Brown, “This fight with Bowes was called off twice. He has kept me waiting for too long and he is getting it. He isn’t on my level and he will find that out. Nothing will stop me from getting these titles. There haven’t been many events on since boxing resumed, so to be headlining an MTK Global show is very exciting and I feel like I’m one of the chosen ones.”
