Sandoval, 111.8 lbs of Riverside, CA is 18-1 with 13 knockouts. Tabugon, 111.2 lbs of General Santos City, PHL is 22-12-1.

“It was a great fight,” said Ricardo Sandoval. “It was a great fight for the people. Raymond was a tough opponent with a lot of experience. I needed that kind of experience. I think we’re ready for a world title. Whoever gives me the opportunity, we’ll take it. I’ll be ready. Now it’s on to the next fight to get closer to a world title.”

Oscar Negrete won a 10-round unanimous decision over Alberto Melian in a bantamweight bout.

Negrete, 117.4 lbs of Los Angeles, CA won by scores of 98-92 twice and 97-93 and is now 19-2-2. Melian, 117.6 lbs of Buenos Aires, ARG is 6-2.

In round one, Melian was cut over the right eye from a punch.

“It was a tough fight,” said Oscar Negrete. “I have to recognize that Alberto Melian is an amazing fighter. He came to win. He won the public’s respect tonight. I did what I had to do to win the fight. We want an opportunity to fight for a world title. I deserve it. We worked extremely hard to get here.

Sulem Urbina remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Noemi Bosques in a super flyweight bout.

Urbina, 112.6 lbs of Phoenix, AZ won by scores of 60-54 on all cards and is now 12-0. Bosques, 113.6 lbs of St. Petersburg, FL is 12-15-3.

“I thought it was an exciting fight for the fans,” said Sulem Urbina. “I tried to get the stoppage, but she had a strong will. I learned a lot from my opponent. It was an honor to fight her. I hope Golden Boy keeps an eye out for me.”

Leonardo Baez won an eight-round unanimous decision over former world title challenger Moises Flores in a featherweight bout.

Baez, 123.8 lbs of Mexicali, MX won by scores of 80-72 on all cards and is now 18-2. Flores, 124 lbs of Guadalajara, MX is 24-3.

“My opponent was an interim champion,” said Leonardo Baez. “He had more experience than me. That’s why we trained hard in the gym. I want bigger fights and tougher opponents.”

Anthony Reyes and Diuhl Olguin fought to a no-contest after a headbutt forced the bout to be stopped at 53 seconds of round three of their scheduled six-round super bantamweight bout.

“At first I was doing good,” said Anthony Reyes. “I was still warming up. My opponent was very experienced. Unfortunately, the headbutt happened. The cut was pretty deep.” “I feel unsatisfied,” said Diuhl Olguin. “The fight was barely going to start. My opponent was a great counter puncher. I was pressuring and unfortunately the headbutt occurred.”

Oscar Acevedo remained undefeated by winning a six-round majority decision over Dan Murray after a headbutt forced the fight to end 23 seconds early.

Acevedo, 134 lbs of Los Angeles won by scores of 59-55 twice and 57-57, and is now 7-0. Murray, 134.2 lbs of Lanoka Harbor, NJ is 5-3.

“I think I did good, said Oscar Acevedo. “Better than my last fight. He was tough and came to fight. Now back to the gym to get better.”

In a battle of undefeated super featherweights, Anthony Garnica won a four-round majority decision over Luis Alvarado.

Garnica, 126.4 lbs of Oakland, CA won by scores of 40-36, 39-37 and 38-38, and is now 5-0. Alvarado, 128 lbs of Pasco, WA is 1-1.

“It was a good fight,” said Anthony Garnica. “He was a tough opponent. He came to fight. I executed the game plan. I settled down through the rounds and got it done.”

Sandoval is a 20-year-old prospect who possess a very exciting style. In July 2019, Sandoval fought on a Golden Boy card for the first time by scoring a dominant stoppage win against Marco Sustaita to defend his WBC Youth Intercontinental Flyweight Title. Then, he returned in October to stop Gilberto Gonzalez in the fifth round. Now, Sandoval will look develop into a full-fledge contender against his toughest opponent to date.

LOS ANGELES (June 12, 2019): Undefeated Irish contender Jason Quigley (16-0, 12 KOs) will return to the ring to defend his NABF Middleweight Title against battle-tested Tureano Johnson (20-2-1, 14 KOs) in the 10-round main event of the July 18 edition of the Golden Boy DAZN Thursday Night Fights at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif. The fights will be streamed live on RingTV.com and on Facebook Watch via the Golden Boy Fight Night Page beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT. The series will also be available on regional sports networks around the nation.

Quigley is a 28-year-old contender who has an unblemished record after turning professional in 2014. The native of Donegal, Ireland has defeated the likes of James “The King” De La Rosa, Glen “Jersey Boy” Tapia, and Freddy “El Riel” Hernandez. In his last fight, Quigley fought for the first time in the U.K. since moving to the United States to start his professional career. In that fight, Quigley defeated Mathias Eklund via second-round technical knockout. After a year-long setback due to an injury suffered in his right hand against Tapia, Quigley has been making a comeback and is eager for a world title shot.

“I’m excited because getting in the ring with these good fighters is going to make me perform even better,” said Jason Quigley. “This is going to be a massive year for me so I’m looking to putting on a great performance. We are focused on climbing the middleweight ladder, and we’re on the road now to world titles. That makes me excited. Tureano Johnson is a great fighter. Johnson is a 35-year-old contender who hopes to fight for a world title despite some setbacks in his career. Johnson’s only losses were against Curtis “The Cerebral Assassin” Stevens and Sergiy “The Technician” Derevyanchenko. After a very tough battle against Fernando “El Huracan” Castaneda in February, the native of Nassau, Bahamas is eager to make his case for a world title opportunity by handing Quigley his first loss.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to fight Jason Quigley for the NABF Middleweight Championship on July 18 in Indio, California,” said Tureano Johnson. “Quigley is an excellent boxer with an excellent record, but I will come to the fight prepared to give and to take. In the co-main event, Alberto “Impacto” Melian (5-0, 3 KOs) of Buenos Aires, Argentina will defend his NABA Super Bantamweight Title in a 10-round fight against Leonardo Baez (14-2, 8 KOs) of Mexicali, Mexico.

Marlen Esparza (6-0, 1 KO) of Houston, Texas will fight in an eight-round flyweight fight.

Jaime Munguia won a 12-round unanimous decision over unheralded, but tough as nails challenger Takeshi Inoue to retain the WBO Junior Middleweight championship at The Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

In round three, Inoue was cut over his left eye from an accidental headbutt.  That did not dissuade the challenger as he put his head down and came forward to throw and land some hard overhand rights.  That style proved to be exciting but not an effective way to evade crunching body shots from Maunguia,  as the champion pounded away at the flanks of the incoming challenger.

There were several instances of Munguia looking like he would have Inoue in trouble with vicious combination, but Japanese visitor was able to land flush right hands on the exposed face of Munguia.

Munguia, 153.2 lbs of Tijuana, MEX is 32-0.  Inoue, 153.6 lbs of Tokyo is 13-1-1.

Munguia seized control in  the late rounds as he took over the 2nd half of the fight and won by (too) wide margins of 120-108 twice and 119-109.

Xu Can wrestled the WBA Featherweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision over Jesus Rojas.

The two traded a close-quarters for the entire fight, with Can landing hard combinations.  Rojas would continuously fire back by landing ripping combination that would snap the head back of the challenger.  The fight was non-stop punching and landing, and it was a close fight.  Definitely closer then the 118-110, 117-111 and 116-112 tallies that the three ringside officials voted on.

Can, 125.6 lbs of Kumming, CHN is 16-2-2.  Rojas, 126 lbs of Caguas, PR is 26-3-2.

Vergil Ortiz, Jr. kept his perfect stoppage streak alive by stopping Jesus Valdez after five rounds due to cuts.

Valdez suffered a cut over his right eye, and the bout was stopped.

Ortiz, 142 lbs of Dallas, TX is now 12-0 12 knockouts.  Valdez, 143.6 lbs of Huatabampo, MEX is 23-5-1.

Alex Rincon won a six-round unanimous decision over Jeremy Ramos in a junior middleweight bout.

In round six, Ramos started bleeding from his nose.

Rincon, 153.3 lbs of Dallas, TX won by scores of 60-54, 59-55 and 58-56, and is now 6-0.  Ramos, 152.8 lbs of Bayamon, PR is 10-6.

Alberto Melin stopped Edgar Ortega in the final scheduled round of their ten-round super bantamweight bout.

Melian dropped Ortego in the final frame with a perfect left hook.  Melian jumped on Ortega, and landed a huge assault of punches on the ropes, and the bout was stopped at 1:33.

Melian, 121.4 lbs of Buenos Aires, ARG is 4-0 with three knockouts.  Ortega, 122 lbs of Mexicali, MEX is 10-2-2.

George Rincon stopped Emmanuel Valadez in round one of their scheduled six-round super lightweight bout.

In round one, Rincon dropped Valadez to the canvas.   Rincon was all over Valadez, and the fight was stopped after a huge barrage of punches from Rincon at 1:36.

Rincon, 139.6 lbs of Dallas is 6-0 with three knockouts.  Valdez, 139.6 lbs of Agua Prieta, MEX is 5-7.
