PHILADELPHIA–Former two-time world title challenger, Jesse Hart stopped David Murray in round three of their super middleweight turned cruiserweight bout that headlined a nine bout card at the 2300 Arena.

The show was promoted by RDR Promotions.

Hart dropped Murray with a short jab in the opening frame. Hart sent Murray to the deck again in round three as he hurt Murray with power shots and followed that up with a hard left hook. Murray was in trouble, and Hart sensed that. Hart jumped on Murray and landed a hard flurry of punches and the fight was stopped at 2:20.

Joshafat Ortiz remained undefeated by winning an eight-round unanimous decision over Rondale Hubbert in a junior welterweight fight.

In the opening seconds, Hubbert’s dropped Ortiz with a right hand. That was high point of the fight as Ortiz started to box and move very effectively as he picked Hubbert apart from the outside. Hubbert would look to land a big shot, but he was never close to striking lightning again.

Ortiz of Reading, PA, won by scores of 58-55, 59-55 and 57-56 and he is now 8-0. Hubbert of Fargo, NC is 14-19-3.

Nafear Charles won a six-round unanimous decision over Jonathan Hernan Godoy in a junior welterweight bout.

Charles won on all cards 58-56 and is now 8-0-1. Godoy is now 5-12.

Steven Pichardo and DeWayne Williams battled to a six-round draw in a middleweight bout.

Scores were 59-55 for Williams; 58-56 for Pichardo and 57-57.

Pichardo is now 8-1-1. Williams is 3-4-1.

Boimah Karmo remained undefeated with a four-round majority decision over Denzel Fudd in a welterweight.

Karmo of Philadelphia won by scores of 40-36, 39-37 and 38-38 and is now 2-0-1. Fudd is 0-2.

Raekwon Butler won a six-round unanimous decision over Derrick Whitley in a welterweight fight.

Butler, 140 lbs of Brooklyn, NY won by scores of 59-55 twice and 58-56 and is now 4-1. Whitley, 144 lbs is now 6-3-1.

Edwin Cortes made a successful pro debut with a four-round unanimous decision over Jerrod Miner in a bantamweight fight.

Cortes, 114.2 lbs of Millville, NJ won by scores of 40-36 on all cards and is 1-0. Miner, 117 lbs of Philadelphia is 2-13-2.

Felix Parrilla remained undefeated with a 4th round stoppage over Ryan Venable in the final round of their super featherweight bout.

In round one, Parrilla floored Venable with a hard left hook. In round three, Payyilla was deducted a poiny for low blows. Later in the round, Parrilla decked Venable with a perfect overhand right. In round four, Parrilla dropped Venable with a body shot, Later in the round, it was two chopping right hands the put Venable down again. The fight stopped after a barrage of punches in the corner at 2:38.

Parrilla, 132.8 lbs of New Haven, CT is 3-0 with three knockouts. Venable, 141 lbs of Roanoke, VA is 2-9.

Jose Nieves won a four-round unanimous decision over Josh Aarons in a super bantamweight bout.

Nieves scored a knockdown in round four, and won by scores of 40-35 on all cards.

Nieves, 124 lbs of Woodbridge, NJ is 2-0. Aarons, 124.8 lbs of Williamsport, PA is 0-2.

Nahir Albright scored the biggest win of his career as he pounded out an eight-round unanimous decision over Jeremy Hill to capture the NABA Lightweight Title at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

There were some close rounds with each guy pressing the action at different points of the fight. Albright seemed to get the better of the action as they headed down the stretch. The final rounds saw Albright take control and clearly get the better of the action and he came home with the victory by scores of 79-73 twice and 78-74.

Albright, 133.6 lbs of Sicklerville, NJ is 13-1. Hill, 135.2 lbs of New Orleans, LA is 15-2.

Muhsin Cason demolished Tristan James by scoring a third-round stoppage of their four-round cruiserweight fight.

Cason landed a left hook that put James down hard on the canvas and the bout was stopped.

Cason, 197.3 lbs of Las Vegas is now 8-0 with five knockouts. James, 194 lbs of Des Moines, IA is 4-4-.2

Julian Smith scored an explosive first round stoppage of Derrick Whitley Jr in a scheduled welterweight.

Smith landed a booming overhand right that sent Whitley down for the count at 2:58.

Smith, 144.8 lbs of Country Club Hills, IL is 5-0 with four knockouts. Whitley, 147.6 lbs of Springfield, MA is 6-2-1.

Ryan Schwartzberg scored an upset as he stopped previously undefeated Ryan Umberger in the 2nd round of their four-round junior middleweight clash.

Schwartzberg caught Umberger with a big left hook that hurt Umberger. Schwartzberg continued to batter Umberger, but Umberger caught Schwartzberg with several hard shots of his own. Umberger was still wobbly from the first barrage and got caught with several hard shots on the ropes and the bout was stopped at 1:41.

Schwartzberg, 156.3 lbs of Dania, FL is 1-1-1 with one knockout. Umberger, 155.3 lbs of Bensalem, PA is 4-1.

Du-Shane Crooks won a six-round majority decision Bernard Thomas in a super middleweight bout.

Crooks, 167.7 lbs of May Pen, JAM won by scores of 60-54, 59-55 and 57-57 and is now 16-2. Thomas, 168.8 lbs of Kansas City, MO is 6-11.

Steve Galeano remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Marquis Hawthorne in a junior welterweight bout.

Galeano, 143.1 lbs of Bronx, NY won by scores of 60-54 twice and 59-55 and is now 8-0. Hawthorne, 138.8 lbs of Waco, TX is 8-15.

Raekwon Butler remained undefeated with a four-round unanimous decision over Diemerci Nzau in a welterweight bout.

Butler, who dominated the fight at range, was deducted a point for spiting out his mouthpiece in the final frame. He was also cut over his right eye in round three.

Butler, 138.8 lbs won by 39-36 scores on all cards, and is now 3-0. Nzau, 144 lbs of Silver Spring, MD is now 11-15.

PHILADELPHIA (June 25, 2021)-Rising Lightweight Nahir Albright will take on Jeremy Hill In the main event on Friday night, July 23rd, which will kick off “Crossroads” weekend at the 2300 Arena.

The card will be the first of back-to-back shows as RDR Promotions will be back the very next night with another action packed show that will also feature some of the best talent in the county.

Albright of Sicklerville, New Jersey has a record of 12-1 with six knockouts.

The 25 year-old Albright has been streaking as he stopped his last four opponents which includes early wins over Dante Cox (6-1) and his fight when he stopped former world title challenger Cosme Rivera in eight-rounds on May 28th in Rivera’s home country of Mexico. Albright also has wins over Danny Murray (1-0), Glenford Nickey (4-1-1) and Roy McGill (6-1-1).

Hill of New Orleans has a record of 15-1 with 10 knockouts.

Hiil, 28 years-old is a three-year pro who has wins over Leshawn Alcoks (1-0), Xavier Wilson (11-1-1) and Travis Castellon (16-3-1). Hill is coming off of a fourth round stoppage over Deivi Julio on May 15th in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A rare six-round contest between a pair of unbeaten welterweight prospects–Marcel Rivers, of North Philadelphia, and Derrick Whitley, Jr., of Springfield, MA–highlights the preliminary card of Raging Babe’s ‘Philly Special’ on Friday evening, Feb. 8, at the 2300 Arena.

Headlining the eight-fight program is an eight-round bantamweight match-up between undefeated Christian Carto, of South Philadelphia, and Victor Ruiz, of San Diego, CA. First bout is at 7.30 p.m.

Rivers, 31, has won all six of his pro fights, four by knockout. A single father, he balances boxing with a full-time, physically taxing job at Philadelphia Gas Works. Rivers, the sole caregiver for his 6-year-old son, Cameron, recently added another “why” to his quest to become a world champion. His new baby daughter, 4-month-old Jennah, provides him with new inspiration.

“I definitely have an incentive to work even harder now,” said Rivers. “It’s an honor to be on this card, with all the talent. A lot of these guys have backing, but I have come out of nowhere and found my way, so I appreciate the opportunity to fight on this card.”

Whitley, Jr, 27, a southpaw, is unbeaten in five pro fights with one draw. He comes from a fighting family–his dad and uncle were veteran pros.

Derrick Whitley, Sr., had 52 pro fights from 1995 to 2007. Uncle Darren–twin brother of Whitley, Sr.–had 44 pro fights from 1995 to 2003. Both fought as super middleweights and light-heavyweights.

The younger Whitley trains at the family gym. He works with adults who have had brain injuries, a career he has pursued for many years. He also plays semi-pro football.

“Rivers vs. Whitley was not the easiest fight to make,” said matchmaker J Russell Peltz, “given the culture of boxing today where few fighters want to risk their spotless records at such an early stage. These two guys are different and I applaud them for it.”

In a six-round heavyweight bout on the Feb. 8 card, North Philadelphia’s Darmani Rock (13-0, 8 KOs) will look to secure his 14th win. Rock was a highly touted amateur with multiple national and international titles. He signed with Jay Z’s Roc Nation in 2016 before turning pro. Rock is trained by his father, Wayne, AKA Whiz.

The Feb. card also includes the highly anticipated professional debuts of two of Pennsylvania’s most promising amateurs in four-round fights. Heavyweight Sonny Conto, of South Philly, and bantamweight Jeremy Adorno, of Allentown, PA, announced last week that they had signed with Top Rank Boxing.

Conto, 22, was a standout baseball player at Rowan College at Gloucester County before turning his attention to boxing. He takes on Jimmy Levins, of Buffalo, NY. Jeremy Adorno, younger brother of fellow Top Rank signee Joseph Adorno, was born in Puerto Rico. He boasts an amateur record of 106-17 with multiple Silver Gloves National titles and two Ringside World titles under his belt.

Coatesville, PA, junior welterweight Gerardo Martinez (3-1, 1 KO) faces Haitian-born Osnel Charles (12-18-1, 2 KOs), of Atlantic City NJ, who has appeared at the 2300 Arena in four of his last seven fights. This also is scheduled for four rounds.

Rounding out the card: New Hope, PA, bantamweight Alejandro Jimenez (4-0, 1 KO) vs. Edgar Cortes (6-4), of Vineland, NJ, in a six-round, bantamweight contest; Puerto Rican-born Jonathan Torres (1-0), of Bethlehem, PA, vs. Atlantic City bantamweight Dallas Holden (1-3) over four rounds.

“You have Gerardo Martinez with a 3-1 record going up against a 31-fight veteran in Osnel Charles,” said Peltz. “Or Alejandro Jimenez, at 4-0, fighting a capable 10-fight lefty in Edgar Cortes. There are times when four- and six-round fights are more appetizing than some of the so-called big fights you see on television.”
