CARL FRAMPTON TODAY rejected the idea that the coronavirus lockdown represents more personal bad luck in his hunt to become a three weight World Champion, saying “we are all in the same boat”.‘The Jackal’ was forced out of a fight with Emmanuel Dominguez in August 2019 after a freak accident saw a large ornament fall and break his hand in a hotel lobby.

In his return bout in December 2019 Frampton outpointed an outmatched Tyler McCreary but would fracture both his hands in the process, pushing his title fight with Jamel Herring even further away.

Carl, however, is refusing to feel sorry for himself and told ‘The Lockdown Lowdown’ that he is choosing to look on the bright side.

“My wife made a good point the other day. If I hadn’t had my hand operations, and had been waiting on them now it could have been a different story with things like that being postponed.”

Frampton is clear what that could have meant for his career: “It might have been the end.”

Fans needn’t worry, though, as the 29 fight veteran from Belfast is certain his shot against WBO Junior-Lightweight Champ Jamel Herring will come as soon as it’s safe for them to meet.

“The fight has been pretty much agreed, without being officially announced. I’m pretty sure it will happen eventually… when restrictions ease a little bit.”

Herring has 22 professional fights to his name, with just two losses, and many fans believe he’d go into a fight with 27-2 Frampton as the favourite based on size difference alone.

‘Semper Fi’ got into the ring for a face-off with Frampton after his recent victory over Tyler McCreary and it didn’t go unnoticed how much bigger the American was.

‘The Jackal’ wasn’t as impressed as some.

“If you look at that picture, when he got in the ring after my last fight, he looked about 12 stone… I’m thinking ‘he’s got to make 9st4′. 

It’ll hurt him to do the weight a lot more than me…”

Frampton is sure that Herring’s size won’t be the deciding factor when they meet and was adamant that he sees serious flaws in his adversaries game.

“I think he can be outboxed. His feet are slow, he doesn’t punch that fast either. In the middle rounds he gets a little bit lazy. 

It’s almost like he cruises and doesn’t want to exert too much energy.”With victories over Nonito Donaire, Leo Santa Cruz and Scott Quigg on his record, Frampton knows a thing or two about the sweet science.

So what would it mean to be proven right and be crowned a four-time, three-weight World Champion?

“It would be amazing… Hall of Fame stuff. I want people to remember me.”

READING, Pa. (October 10, 2019) – Top super welterweight contender Erickson “Hammer” Lubin will now face hard-hitting Nathaniel Gallimore in a 10-round showdown on Saturday, October 26, live on SHOWTIME from Santander Arena in Reading, Pa., in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

The all-action Gallimore replaces Terrell Gausha, who was forced to withdraw from the main event bout due to an injury to his left hand during sparring that required surgery.

Unbeaten heavyweight sensation Efe Ajagba will enter the ring against once-beaten Jack Mulowayi in a 10-round bout that replaces the previously announced Rau’Shee Warren vs. Emmanuel Rodriguez fight. Warren had to withdraw from the contest due a right hand injury suffered during sparring.

The three-fight SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION begins live at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and also features former lightweight world champion Robert Easter Jr. making his super lightweight debut against battle-tested veteran Adrian “El Tigre” Granados in the 10-round co-featured attraction.

Orlando, Florida’s Lubin (21-1, 16 KOs) was one of the fastest rising contenders in boxing as he quickly raced to the top of the ladder to challenge Jermell Charlo for the WBC 154-pound championship in 2017. Following a one-punch, first-round stoppage to Charlo, the 24-year-old Lubin has rebounded with three straight stoppage victories of his own to regain his momentum toward a world championship. In February, Lubin became the first boxer to stop former champion Ishe Smith and is coming off a TKO victory over Zaharia Attou in his last fight in June on SHOWTIME.

“It’s unfortunate that Gausha had to pull out because I was really looking forward to that fight,” said Lubin. “Now I’m facing, Nathaniel Gallimore, who is a very good fighter who’s only losses are to top level guys. The 31-year-old Gallimore (21-3-1, 17 KOs) most recently defeated Antonio Todd by decision in August to rebound from close decision losses to unified champion Julian Williams and top-ranked contender Patrick Teixeira in 2018. Born in Kingston, Jamaica and fighting out of Evanston, Illinois, Gallimore put together a seven-fight winning streak before the Williams fight, including knockouts of contenders Justin DeLoach and Jeison Rosario.

“I’m approaching this like any other big fight that was in the works for a long time,” said Gallimore. “I’ve been waiting for this moment in my career for a while. This is a steppingstone that can take me where I want to go. Lubin’s a pretty good boxer-puncher. He was on the rise for a moment and I knew about him coming up. It’s going to be a great fight. Nigeria’s Ajagba (11-0, 9 KOs) most recently passed the toughest test of his professional career when he defeated fellow 2016 Olympian Ali Eren Demirezen by 10-round unanimous decision in July. The 25-year-old Ajagba gained widespread notoriety in August 2018 when his opponent, Curtis Harper, walked out of the ring after touching gloves to start the first round. Ajagba won the fight without throwing a punch as Harper was disqualified. Living in Stafford, Texas and training with Ronnie Shields, Ajagba has steadily increased his competition and added knockouts wins over Amir Mansour and Michael Wallisch this year.

Fighting out of Antwerpen, Belgium, by way of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mulowayi (7-1-1, 3 KOs) will make his U.S. debut on October 26 in a pro career that dates back to 2015. The 32-year-old was unbeaten in his first seven pro fights before losing a narrow majority decision to Herve Bubeaux in a bout for the Belgium heavyweight title in May. He rebounded to defeat Artur Kubiak in July heading into his fight against Ajagba.

PHILADELPHIA (July 31, 2019) — Former super featherweight world champion Jason Sosa won’t have to travel far for his next assignment. The native of Camden, New Jersey, will make the short drive to Philadelphia to face veteran Haskell Lydell Rhodes in a 10-round super featherweight bout Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Liacouras Center.

Sosa-Rhodes will be the co-feature to the Carl Frampton-Emmanuel Dominguez featherweight clash and will stream live on ESPN+, the leading multi-sport streaming service, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

The undercard will stream live on ESPN+ beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.

“I was supposed to fight July 19 against Erick De Leon, but he got injured. That doesn’t matter now. I’m ready for Rhodes,” Sosa said. “I couldn’t care less as long as my team prepares me to fight that person I’m scheduled to fight. That’s all I care about.”

“I’m going to show everyone watching on ESPN+ and all the great boxing enthusiasts in Philly that Haskell Lydell Rhodes is a top fighter,” Rhodes said. “Jason Sosa is a former world champion, and that has motivated me to show what I’m made of.

Sosa (22-3-4, 15 KOs) was the sport’s “Cinderella Man” of 2016, as he knocked out WBA world super featherweight champion Javier Fortuna in the 11th round of an all-action bout. Later that year, he defended the title in Monte Carlo with a unanimous decision over Stephen Smith. Back-to-back defeats to Vasiliy Lomachenko and Yuriorkis Gamboa halted Sosa’s momentum, but he has won two in a row, most recently grinding out a 10-round unanimous decision over Moises Delgadillo on Jan. 18 in Verona, New York. Rhodes (27-3-1, 13 KOs), who is now based in Las Vegas, is an eight-year pro who has never been stopped in 31 professional bouts. An Oklahoma native, Rhodes is 4-1 since an 0-2-1 skid that included competitive decision losses to Sergey Lipinets and Edner Cherry.

• The long-awaited professional debut of two-time Cuban Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramirez will come against Adan Gonzales (4-2-2, 2 KOs) in a four-round featherweight bout.

• Donald Smith (9-0, 6 KOs), a 5-foot-11 southpaw featherweight from Philadelphia, will look to notch his second victory of the year against Abdur-Raheem Abdullah (3-2, 0 KOs) in a six-rounder.

Jordan Gill stopped Emmanuel Dominguez in the 3rd round of their scheduled 12-round lightweight bout.

Gill dropped Dominguez in the 3rd stanza with a hard combination to the head. Gill sent Dominguez down for a 2nd time with a hard right hand. Gill finished the fight with a right-left combination that staggered Dominguez, and the bout was stopped at 1:55.

Gill of the UK is 23-0 with seven knockouts. Dominguez, 135.7 lbs of Mexico is 24-8-2.

Anthony Sims Jr. remained undefeated by stopping Matteo Veron in round six of a scheduled ten-round light heavyweight bout.

In round six, Sims dropped Veron with a hard right to the head. Moments later, it was another hard right that sent Veron down face-first. Veron got to to his feet but the fight was waved off at 1:54.

Sims, 169 lbs of Plainfield, IN is now 18-0 with 17 knockouts. Veron, 167 lbs of Buenos Aries, ARG is 28-22.

Anthony Sims Jr. stopped Mateo Veron in round six of their scheduled 10-round super middleweight bout.

In round six, Sims landed a big right hand that sent Veron to the canvas. Later in the round, it was a hard combination that dropped Veron and the fight was stopped at 1:54.

Sims, 169.1 lbs of Compton, CA is 18-0 with 17 knockouts. Veron, 167 lbs of Buenos Aries, ARG is 28-22-3.

‘The Thrill’ takes on Mexico’s Dominguez for the WBA International Featherweight crown at the East of England Arena in Peterborough, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US, and is expecting a tough nights work.

“He’s been around, he’s seen a lot of things in the ring, and I don’t think he’s going to be too bothered about coming over to England and facing me,” said Gill. “He’s experienced. He’s only been stopped once and that’s by a current World Champion as well, who just beat Isaac Dogboe for the WBO title.

“Mexican’s are notoriously hard as nails so I’m prepared to go into the trenches with him. He’s coming for a war and we’re going to meet head on. I’ll do anything to get the win and move on towards more big fights. It’s going to be a fun fight, and the fans are in for a treat I think.”

The unbeaten 24-year-old can propel himself among the WBA’s top contenders by taking out Dominguez, and he is eager to push on with his career after claiming the Commonwealth title with a punch-perfect win over Ryan Doyle in his last fight.

“That’s what it’s all about. I didn’t get into boxing to become a Commonwealth Champion, even though I’m over the moon to be a Commonwealth Champion, it’s not the end goal.

“I want to move on to World level, and this fight puts me in the mix, in the top 15 with the WBA, and we can pick a route towards a World title.

“As a fighter, you want big fights. You want to be involved in all the fights that people are talking about. Not many people are talking about divisions other than the Featherweight division, because it’s probably the best division in boxing at the moment.”

“I can reach the top, I’m one hundred per cent confident of that. I’m confident that I will be there, and be there quicker than people imagine. I’m taking one step at a time. I’m fighting one fight at a time, beating one man at a time.

“Whatever happens, happens, but I know with the team I’ve got around me, and the way that I’m improving in the gym, that these sort of fights and these sort of accolades aren’t out of the question at all.”
