LUIS SAAVEDRA TRAINING CAMP NOTES

SACRAMENTO, CA (November 1, 2022) – Luis Fernando Saavedra (9-7, 3 KOs) of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, has big plans to upset Eros Correa (12-1, 8 KOs), of San Jose, Ca, when the two meet this Saturday in the 10-round bantamweight main event on Thompson Boxing’s “New Blood” card.

“New Blood” will take place at Omega Products International in Sacramento, CA. Doors open at 5:30 pm PT with the first fight starting at 7:00 pm PT. Tickets are priced $50, $75, $100, and $125 are available for purchase by calling 714-935-0900 or online at www.thompsonboxing.com. Here is what Saavedra had to say about his recent training camp, his matchup with Correa, fighting in California, and more.

On his recent training camp:

“I’ve had a full training camp, which in my career has not been all that often, so given the amount of time and preparation I have had, I know I am ready. I trained so hard that I know I’ll be able to go the full twelve rounds with ease. My plan is to get the stoppage before the final bell rings.”

On his matchup with Correa:

“He is a good boxer and very respectful. I think he knows that he is in for a tough fight and that since 2018, no one has had an easy fight with me. I think he will look to box, but I have trained hard to maintain a fast, explosive pace that will force him to fight me or fatigue. Either way, I know the fans are in for a good show based on this match-up. I won’t let him make this a boring fight, as I’ll be coming at him with a ton of pressure.”

On what a win will do for his career:

“My record doesn’t look great, but I have some big wins against some good fighters. Beating a top guy like Eros Correa gives me a chance to lands some bigger fights. I feel with the proper training I can compete with the best fighters in the world. I’m looking to win this fight and move on to bigger and better bouts.”

On fighting in Northern California:

“This will be my first time fighting north of Los Angeles so I’m hoping the fans are just a loud as they are in Southern California. I am sure he will have a lot of fans in attendance but fighting at home can create a lot of pressure. I intend to stress him out and make him uncomfortable in front of his friends and family. If he underestimates me, his in trouble.”

SACRAMENTO, CA (October 26, 2022) – Bantamweight contender, Eros Correa (12-1, 8 KOs), discusses his upcoming fight with Luis Fernando Saavedra (9-7, 3 KOs), of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, a ten-round bout that will serve as the main event on Thompson Boxing’s “New Blood” card.

“New Blood” will take place at Omega Products International in Sacramento, CA. Doors open at 5:30 pm PT with the first fight starting at 7:00 pm PT. Fight fans will be able to watch all Thompson Boxing fights, weigh-ins, and behind-the-scenes content, via their new Mobile App downloadable on Apple and Google.

Here is what the WBA #14 ranked contender, Eros Correa had to say about his recent training camp, his matchup with Saavedra, and more.

On his recent training camp:

“I had a good camp in Las Vegas and got great work with a lot of top fighters out there, which helped a lot. I have pushed myself to uncomfortable places day-after-day and have given up the comforts of training at home in San Jose. I want to give myself the best chance at winning, so I finished off my final days of training camp in Las Vegas. I want to be a world champion, and this was a world championship camp.”

On his upcoming matchup with Luis Fernando Saavedra:

You cannot look past anyone, and I’m taking this fight with Saavedra like it’s the biggest fight in my career, because it is being that I’m ranked in the WBA. Saavedra has been proven to be a tough opponent for some world-class fighters. He beat two undefeated fighters recently and had a majority decision loss to another good fighter as well. I expect him to be in great shape. He is coming to win, and that means he is a dangerous opponent.”

On what a win does for his career:

Winning this fight continues what I started by getting a big win over Saul Sanchez and allows me opportunities to contend at the top of the division. I want to fight for a world title, but I know I must earn it just like I did in the amateurs. I expect all the belts to go vacant soon, and hopefully, I will be in a title eliminator next year with a dominant performance. A win here means I can move forward, stay active, awaiting a chance for a big fight.”

On fighting in Northern California near home:

“It has been a long time since I have had a local fight close to home. Sacramento is only a couple of hours away from my hometown of San Jose. A lot of familiar faces, or people who have become fans of mine over the years will be in attendance. I’m looking forward to fighting in front of all my people who support me in Northern California. This fight means a lot more than just a fight to me. This is a celebration of how far I have come in the sport of boxing, and I’m grateful to Thompson Boxing for giving me this opportunity.”

George “El YuYu” Acosta Training Camp Quotes

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 15, 2022) – Lightweight prospect, George “El YuYu” Acosta (12-1, 1 KO), of Whittier, California, is in one of the toughest fights of his career as he faces, Marlin “So Icey” Sims (8-1, 4 KOs), of Minneapolis, Minnesota, this Friday, June 17th, on the “Path To Glory” card at the DoubleTree Hotel in Ontario, California, promoted by Thompson Boxing Promotions. Acosta vs. Sims, an eight-round bout, will serve as the co-main event to Saul Sanchez vs. Eros Correa, a ten-round bantamweight clash.

Tickets are priced at $50$75, & $100, and are available for purchase by calling 714-935-0900, or online at ThompsonBoxing.com. Fight fans will be able to watch all Thompson Boxing fights, weigh-ins, and behind-the-scenes content, via their new Mobile App downloadable on Apple and Google.

Here is what Acosta had to say about his upcoming fight with Sims, his recent training camp, and more.

On his recent training camp:

“It was a really hard training camp, in which I trained two-to-three times a-day, invested in myself, like all high-level fighters have to do. Everyone on my team molded together to make this the best camp of my career. I know an impressive win on Friday night could lead to big things. That is what I want, so I went all in on this camp.”

On his upcoming fight with Sims:

“I am excited to prove myself on this level. I have worked hard on my diet, strength program, developing a social media following with my YouTube channel, and now I feel whole, as a person and a fighter. It comes down to performing on this night, and I know that Marlin Sims will see the best version of me on night night, as will the fans. I’m expecting him to be in the best shape of his life, which is going to make for a great fight. He does a lot of good things in the ring, but I feel my ring IQ and determination will get me the victory.”

On what a win will do for his career:

“I lost a lot of momentum when I lost to Ruben Torres. Torres is being thrown around as a prospect of the year contender, and I felt that was a close fight, but people didn’t pay attention to my career the same way after I lost. This is my chance to prove the doubters wrong, and show just how good I am. I want to break onto the scene at the world-class level. I want to be respected in this division, and a convincing will help.”

On fighting in So-Cal on another Thompson Boxing Promotions card:

“Thompson Boxing Promotions has built my career the right way. I won’t lie, it hasn’t always been easy, but I know I am a much better fighter than most fighters with my record. I know where I stand in the division and what I need to do. Part of what I need to do is get the L.A. fight fans behind me, as they have supported me thus far, and I look to travel someday soon when the right fight happens. I have all the support of Southern California behind me, and I’m expecting a lot of fans to be at my fight this Friday.”

Saul “The Beast” Sanchez Training Camp Quotes

ONTARIO, CA (June 14, 2022) – Explosive bantamweight contender, Saul “The Beast” Sanchez (18-1, 11 KOs), is putting his world ranking on the line when he battles Eros Correa (11-1, 8 KOs), in a 10-round main event headlining Thompson Boxing’s “Path To Glory” event on Friday, June 17th, 2022.

This event will take place at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, CA. Doors open at 6:30 pm PT with the first fight starting at 8:00 pm PT. Tickets are priced at $50, $75, and $100, are available for purchase by calling 714-935-0900.

Sanchez gives his thoughts on his recent training camp, his upcoming bout with Correa, fighting in Southern California and more.

On his recent training camp with coach Manny Robles:

“I’m having a great training camp, my body is healthy, and I’ve improved in all facets of my game. My coach Manny Robles is one of the top trainers in boxing and we keep getting better together. We have a nice understanding with each other on what needs to be done in this fight. We have all the sparring needed to get ready for this fight. I’m in tremendous shape and I’ll be ready to go.”

On his matchup with Eros Correa:

“I’ve seen Correa fight a few times and he’s a good fighter, but I’ve been in the ring with much better competition, and I see myself dominating this fight. He was one of the top amateurs, but in the pros he’s just average. I know he’s coming to fight, so I’ll be fully ready to counter anything he brings to the ring. I just believe I’m better then him in all areas, especially my power. I don’t think this fight goes the distance.”

On fighting in Southern California:

“Anytime I fight in Southern California it’s a great feeling because I know I’ll have a lot of support from family and friends. I thrive when I know my people will be there watching. I’m looking forward to putting on a great show for all those watching live.”

On headlining Thompson Boxing’s “Path To Glory” event:

“Headlining Thompson Boxing events are incredible, especially at the Doubletree Hotel where the fans are loud and rowdy. I’ve worked my way to this position and I’m very grateful to my Thompson Boxing family for always believing in me and giving me opportunities to further my career. To be headlining this event is a true blessing.”

Eros Correa Training Camp Quotes

ONTARIO, CA (June 13, 2022) – Looking to take is career to the next level, bantamweight Eros Correa (11-1, 8 KOs), has his mind on upsetting world ranked contender Saul “The Beast” Sanchez (18-1, 11 KOs), when the two clash in the 10-round main event on Thompson Boxing’s “Path To Glory” event on Friday, June 17th, 2022.

?

This event will take place at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, CA. Doors open at 6:30 pm PT with the first fight starting at 8:00 pm PT. Tickets are priced at $50$75, and $100, are available for purchase by calling 714-935-0900.

Correa gives his thoughts on his recent training camp, his upcoming bout with Sanchez, training in Las Vegas and more.

On his recent training camp in Las Vegas:

“This is a big fight for me, so I spent time in Las Vegas where I got some great sparring with a bunch of fighters that emulate Sanchez’ style. The beginning of camp was spent in the Bay Area, my hometown, where I did all my strength and conditioning. Once I got to Vegas I was in great shape, so all my sparring was sharp. I did all my training in Las Vegas at the Salas Boxing Academy, where I took my game to the next level.”

On his matchup with Saul Sanchez:

“Sanchez is very skilled and has been on a nice run of late, but this will be my first fight at bantamweight, my natural weight class. For my entire career I was taking fights at weights I knew I shouldn’t be fighting at. In this fight, everyone will see me at my strongest, and I know I’m going to win this fight. I have complete confidence in my ability to come out on top.”

On what a win will do for his career:

“A victory against Sanchez will put me in position to get my career back on track. I had some setbacks when I first turned professional, but now that can all be forgotten with a nice win. This will be the turning point in my career that will take me to the place I envisioned when first started boxing, which is to be a world champion.”

On headlining a main event for the first time:

“This will be my firs main event and I’m going to leave everything in the ring, because I know a fight like this doesn’t come around often. Thompson Boxing is giving me this golden opportunity and I’m going to make the most of it. I have plans to upset Sanchez in front of all his hometown fans and move to the next level of my career.”

Here is what Eros had to say about training camp, his matchup with Akitsugi, and more.

On his recent training camp:

“I have had a long training camp with a few delays just based on securing a fight date, but now I’m more ready than ever. I have worked on getting physically stronger, and that will be the key to this fight. Another big thing about the camp is my commitment to the sport, I am doing multiple workouts a day which include a morning boxing workout, strength and conditioning, as well as road work, so I have never felt better.”

On his matchup with Katsuma Akitsugi:

“He fought someone I know very well in Arnold Dinong, and I watched that fight several times. I think he is a good fighter, but I think he is going to have trouble with my strength. I just feel I am too strong for him, but I think he is a tricky, skilled and an awkward fighter, who is a tough test for anyone. I also feel that his biggest strength is that he is coming to win. I know this will be my toughest fight, but I’m confident in my ability to come out on top.”

On fighting in the co-feature of Thompson Boxing’s New Blood event:

“It is massive, whenever a promoter wants to put me in a marquee spot. I just want to put forth a performance that merits my slot on the card. Thompson Boxing has always been good to me, and I want to put on a dynamic and exciting fight that has the fans excited to see me fight again. My fight against Akitsugi will be the fight of the night.”

On what a win will do for his career:

“A victory gets me closer to a big fight. I know the level I am at since I fought at a high level in the amateurs, and now I must show the world how good I am. Each win is a down payment on my future.”

The 24-year-old’s previous stateside fight came last November, when he stopped then unbeaten Zach Prieto in round one.
