NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 22, 2021)–This Past weekend, four Split-T Management fighters picked up victories including Kali Reis defending WBA/IBO Super Lightweight titles and picking up the WBO title in the process.

The winning ways started off on Thursday night as Sonny Conto remained undefeated, and thrilled his hometown fans by scoring a third-round stoppage over Joel Caudle at the inaugural boxing card at the Live Casino Hotel Philadelphia.

Caudle stood in and landed some flush shots. Conto gave as good as he received as he rocked Caudle several times over the first two rounds. In round three, Caudle continued to stand in and wanted to trade with the bigger Conto., but Conto landed a huge right hand that sent Caudle to the deck. Caudle got to his feet, but was wobbly, and referee Benjy Esteves stopped the fight at the end of round three.

Conto, 220.2 lbs. of Philadelphia is 8-0 with seven knockouts. Caudle, 257.1 lbs. of Raleigh, NC is 8-6-2.

Friday night at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire, Kali Reis retained her WBA/IBO Super Lightweight titles and added the vacant WBO Title with a thrilling split-decision over fellow Split-T fighter Jessica Camara.

Camara started strong and was able to get in some good left hooks. Reis came on down the stretch and showed championship experience.

In round 10, Camara was badly cut over her left eye.

The two waged a vicious war in that 10-round as Reis landed some hard punches.

Reis landed 158 of 556 punches; Camara was 159 of 547.

Reis, 138 lbs. of Providence, RI won by scores of 97-93 twice with Camara taking a card 95-94

Reis is now 19-7-1. Camara, 139 lbs. of Montreal, raised her stock in defeat, is 8-3.

Reis, who is promoted by DiBella Entertainment. will now take on Chantelle Cameron for the undisputed title.

Also in Manchester, light heavyweight Khalil Coe fought to a four-round draw with Aaron Casper

Saturday night in Las Vegas, 2021 United States Olympian Tiger Johnson made a successful pro debut with a 4th round stoppage over Antonius Grable in a welterweight bout.

Johnson worked a solid right hand behind an effective jab. In round four, Johnson landed a hard right that rocked Grable that was ruled a knockdown. Johnson jumped on Grable and landed several clipping rights to the chin that hurt Grable, and the fight was stopped at 1:54.

Johnson of Cleveland, and is promoted by Top Rank, is 1-0 with one knockout. Grable of Sarasota, Florida is 3-2-1.

Also Saturday in Philadelphia, heavyweight Devon Young made it 2-0 with a unanimous decision over Nicoy Clarke at The 2300 Arena.

Young, who is promoted by King’s Promotions, pounded away at a game Clarke and won by scores of 40-36 cards.

Young of Aiken, South Carolina is 2-0. Clarke of Jersey City, NJ is 2-7.

Split-T Management will have it’s undisputed Lightweight World champion Teofimo Lopez defend his titles this Saturday night, November 27th against George Kambosos Jr. at The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and Live on DAZN.

Demetrius Andrade remained undefeated and retained the WBO Middleweight title with a 2nd round destruction of Jason Quigley and SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire.

In round one, Andrade rocked Quigley with a right hook and a follow up shot put the Irish challenger on the canvas. In round two, Andrade landed a wicked overhand left that put Quigley down again. Andrade landed a leaping left that sent Quigley down and the fight was stopped at 2:24

Andrade, 160 lbs of Providence, RI is 31-0 with 18 knockouts. Quigley, 159 1/2 of Ireland is 19-2.

“I did what I said I would do, I looked good and felt good,” said Andrade. “I delivered a message tonight – what’s next and who’s next.
 
“Every time I get in the ring, I do something different, and I can do it all, and whatever I need. Patience. So many times, you see people get knocked down and then they knock the other guy down. So, I keep patient in there and wait for the shots to land. But you asked for KOs, and I give you KOs so let’s go.
 
“I’m 31-0, Olympian and World champion, so what more do I need to do?”

Martinez and Arroyo battle to a no-contest

The WBC Flyweight title bout was between Julio Cesar Martinez and McWilliams Arroyo was postponed three-times, They finally fought on Friday. The fight was full of action, but unfortunately the fight was ruled a no-contest after Arroyo was badly due to a headbutt after round two.

In round one, Arroyo with a hard right hand in between punches. Later in the round, Martinez caught Arroyo with a wicked right that sent him to the canvas. In round two, Arroyo was cut over his right eye. Later in the round, Martinez dropped Arroyo again with a left to the head. With Arroyo bleeding badly, the fight was ruled off after the round.

Martinez, 111.4 lbs of Mexico City is 18-1, 2 no-contest. Arroyo, 111.6 lbs of Fajardo, PR is 21-4, 1 NC

Akhmadaliev Decisions Velasquez; Retains Super Bantamweight Titles

Murodjon Akhmadaliev retained the IBF/WBA Super Bantamweight titles with a unanimous decision over sturdy late-replacement Jose Velasquez.

Akhmadaliev dominated the action as he backed up Velasquez with consistent punching for the duration of the fight.

Akhmadaliev landed 238 of 833 punches; Velasquez landed 170 of 551.

Akhmadaliev, 121.8 lbs of Uzbekistan won by scores of 119-109 on all cards and is now 10-0. Velasquez, 121.6 lbs of Quellon, CHL, stepped in for Ronny Rios who testes positive for COVID-19, is 29-7-2.

Reis Defeats Camara Via Split-Decision to become unified champion

In an action packed 10 round brawl, Kali Reis retained her WBA and won the vacant WBO Super Lightweight title over Jessica Camara.

McKean dominated the action and landed a big flurry on the ropes in round six that forced a referee stoppage at 27 seconds.

McKean, 243 lbs of Queensland, AUS is 20-0 with 13 knockouts. Haynesworh, 293.6 lbs of New Rochelle, NY is 16-8-1.

Nelson Perez remained undefeated with a four-round unanimous decision over Raymundo Rios in a junior welterweight bout.

In round one, Perez dropped Rios with a left hook. In round two, Perez sent Rios down again with a left hook.

Perez, 140 lbs of Marlboro, MA won by scores of 40-34 on all cards, and is now 5-0. Rios, 139.6 lbs of Mexico is 3-8-2.

Thomas O’Toole made quick work of Mark Malone by scoring a 1st round stoppage in the four-round cruiserweight affair.

O’Toole landed a devastating left that sent Malone slumped to the canvas, and the fight was stopped at 1:31.

O’Toole, 186.8 lbs of Ireland is 2-0 with two knockouts. Malone., 198.6 lbs of Longview, TX is 1-1.

Khalil Coe and Aaron Casper battled to a four-round majority draw.

Coe, 175.8 lbs of Jersey City, NJ won by scores 39-37 and 38-38 twice.

Coe is 1-0-1. Casperm 174.8 lbs of Augusta, GA is 6-4-2.

New York (November 19, 2021)–Split-T Management fighters will be on full display on Friday in Manchester, New Hampshire which will include an All Split-T fight that will be contested for three world titles.

That bout will feature WBA/IBO Super Lightweight world champion Kali Reis battling Jessica Camara with the vacant WBO title also on the line.

Reis of Providence, Rhode Island has a record of 18-7-1 with five knockouts. She is a former WBC Middleweight champion. She became a two-division world champion when she won a 10-round unanimous decision over Kandi Wyatt on November 6, 2020 in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Reis made her only defense on August 20th with a majority decision win over Diana Prazak on August 20th in San Diego.

Camara of Montreal, has a record of 8-2. The 33 year-old Camara is coming off a career best win as she won a unanimous decision over former world champion Heather Hardy (22-1) on May 14th in Nashville, Tennessee.

Reis weighed 138 lbs and Camara was 139 lbs.

Also on the bill will be the 2nd pro fight for light heavyweight Khalil Coe.

Coe fights Aaron Casper (6-4-1, 5 KOs) of Augusta, Georgia in a four-round bout.

Coe of Flemington, New Jersey is 1-0, which was a 2nd round knockout of Nathaniel Todd on May 29th in Las Vegas.

Despite just 34 amateur fights, Coe made the most of his opportunities as he was a member of the distinguished United States elite team. Coe gained his most prominence when he knocked out Olympic Gold Medal Winner and four-time world amateur champion Julio Cesar La Cruz.

Casper is coming off a draw with Javier Dario Aragon on February 14th in Atlanta.

Coe weighed 175.8 lbs; Casper was 174.8 lbs.

Coe is co-managed by Split-T Management and Keith Connolly, and is promoted by Matchroom Boxing.

Reis (18-7-1 5 KOs) was in London and working on the DAZN broadcast as Chantelle Cameron booked her spot for a 2022 undisputed fight at 140lbs with victory at The O2 over Mary McGhee, and now Reis and Camara (8-2) battle to meet the Briton for all the marbles.

Reis didn’t just travel to watch the bout though, getting plenty of sparring in while across the pond as she moved towards the end of her camp for her eighth World title bout in a 26-fight career to date.

The 35 year old, who wrote and starred in a feature film titled Catch the Fair One, is eager to land the undisputed title in double quick time as she looks to achieve as much as possible in the game before pursuing more work in the film industry – but ‘Mequinonoag’ says that can wait as she eyes being the star attraction on Friday night and setting up the Cameron fight in style.

“Jessica hasn’t been at 140lbs or in the rankings as she’s been at 130lbs and 135lbs,” said Reis. “But she’s coming in off an excellent win against Heather Hardy, one of the pioneers of women’s boxing in this era, whose only loss was to Amanda Serrano who is one of the best to ever do it – so she’s dangerous, I know that.

“She’s improved from her loss to Melissa St. Vil too so I don’t overlook any opponent, and this is boxing, anything can happen. I commentated on her last two fights, and I give huge respect to her for stepping up and taking this opportunity, as there’s a lot of fighters out there that want to pick and choose fights and not step-up, but Jessica has stepped up so respect to her for that and she’s here for a reason, she wants to become undisputed too.

“She’s a lighter fighter coming up so she’ll have hand speed and fast feet, she doesn’t have as much pressure in a way as I have the titles to defend so maybe the pressure is off her, but as I said when I commentated on her, she has the composure of a veteran, it’s amazing, she had a huge hematoma on her head from the first round against St Vil and she didn’t bat an eye at that and against a legend like Hardy, she did her job, she’s very composed, she has great fundamentals and fast hands.

“I was in London to train but I am in this tournament, so my eyes were wide open for that fight. I was there to see potential opponents live and it was better being there, seeing them at the presser, the weigh-in and around the hotel, the whole energy around the event. We’ve been talking about fight Chantelle for a while now and it was a dream fight for fans in the US and UK. I like how she carries herself and to see her in person was great, she was nothing short of what I expected, she’s a delight to be around and she’s a very determined fighter, and you feel her energy when you are around her.

“Chantelle is a really good boxer and has that killer instinct that you cannot teach. She did what I thought she would do, and it was a great performance, but everybody is beatable including myself, I saw a lot but ultimately, she got the job done in good style.

“I spent a good week in London, we trained and sparred, Noel Callan, Hannah Rankin’s trainer, hooked us up and I think we had 40 rounds in three days, so we definitely got that work in! It’s becoming a regular trip, it’s the third time this year that I’ve been to the UK ahead of fights, it makes sense as you get the quality work over there.

“We have great sparring in America too, most of my sparring is with guys but we do have some females come in, but they come one time and they don’t come back, so it’s hard to get consistent quality sparring in Philadelphia. The only other quality sparring I get is with Katie Taylor when I am in Rhode Island but now I live and train in Philly it’s hard to do that.

“My Native American name is ‘Mequinonoag’ which means ‘many feathers’ or ‘many talents’ and my mother named me correctly, I’m blessed to have this personality where I am fascinated by art and storytelling and all aspects of life, and I don’t see just one path, your journey has many, many paths.

“So the acting and storytelling came to me and I am definitely going to explore it and see what kind of ‘World championships’ I can get in that world too, so you will definitely see me on the big screen again because boxing is a short career and while I have more to do in the sport, it’s a brutal one and I don’t want to outstay my welcome, so when the time comes to gracefully bow out I want to have my wits about me so I can do all these other things after boxing.

“Demetrius and I have known each other since we were young, we’re two Cape Verdean kids from Rhode Island. He started fighting way before I did, and I saw him as a teenager going to do great things as an amateur and we have trained together lots and we have the same strength and conditioning coach. We know each other very well, he’s my brother from another mother and it’s so awesome that we are finally fighting on the same card.”

Cameron (15-0 8 KOs) touched down in Mexico City yesterday to attend the WBC Convention and rub shoulders with some of her fellow holders of the famous green and gold belt, and on Wednesday she’ll arrive in New Hampshire to take an up close and personal look at the second installment of the road to undisputed as Reis (18-7-1 5 KOs) takes on Camara (8-2) for the WBA and vacant WBO straps.

Cameron booked her spot in the showcase fight for next year with victory in London over Mary McGhee in an all-action battle at The O2 a fortnight ago, just one of many breathless and exciting women’s World title bouts that have thrilled fans in recent weeks in the UK and America.

The 30 year old expects Reis and Camara to pick up the baton and leave it all in the ring on Friday night, but believe that it will be the American Reis that she’ll go toe-to-toe with for all the marbles next year.

“I think Kali will win on Friday night,” said Cameron. “Jessica is great opposition, a great fighter and tough as they come but I think Kali has the edge – she’ll land cleaner shots, move better and is a technically superior and will win it on points, but I’m excited because it will be a good fight.

“There’s been so many great women’s fights recently, the world title fights are always explosive over the two minute rounds, and I think this will be another one of them.

“I’ve been back in training already last week and getting ready to see who wins, and then I’ll up the levels again as I will know who I am preparing for.

“It was a great fight with Mary, I’ve watched it back couple of times, we put on a good show. It showed that I am improving with every fight, and it was a perfect fight to show those improvements and that I listen and take the instructions well from Jamie Moore.

“I’m getting better and better, and it’s coming in bigger and bigger fights, I don’t want to go stale or get complacent so it’s not just about winning fights but also about performance, that’s important to me.

“It’s so important for me to come out here. I’ll be in New Hampshire on Wednesday, and it’ll be good to see Kali and Camara not just on fight night but on the scales too and just around the hotel. I need to be 100 per cent prepared for the winner and you cannot beat being there in person, watching it on TV is a lot different. You get to see how they handle their business for fight week at the press conference and weigh-in as well as on the night, on my week I was so relaxed and no matter what Mary was doing or saying, I kept my cool and took care of myself, you can’t get under my skin as I am too focused on my job.

“I’m really looking forward to the whole week, I’ve never been to Mexico before, so I am looking forward to meeting the other WBC champions and spending time there too.”

Mary ‘Merciless’ McGree (27-3, 15 KOs) comes into the fight with increased momentum, notching seven straight wins since her World Title loss in 2013 and picking up the IBF Super-Lightweight Title on the way. The American’s last win came via a ninth round TKO against Deanha Hobbs to retain her crown. 

American two-weight World Champion Kali Reis (18-7-1, 5 KOs) retained her WBA World Title and won the vacant IBO Super-Lightweight belt in August 2021 in a convincing unanimous decision against Australian challenger Diana Prazak at Sycuan Casino, California. 

‘The Cobra’ Jessica Camara (8-2) beat former World Champion Heather Hardy impressively last time out, scoring a unanimous decision to hand the Hardy her second career loss and dramatically boost the Canadian’s ranking in the 140lbs division.

NEW YORK (August 20, 2021) -TONIGHT! at the Sycuan Casino Resort in El Cajon, California, Split-T Management’s Kali Reis will make the first defense of her WBA Super Lightweight world title when she takes on Diana Prazak in the headline bout of a UFC Fight Pass streamed card (11 PM ET / 8 PM PT).

Reis of Providence, Rhode Island, has a record 17-7-1 with five knockouts.

Reis, who is managed by Brian Cohen, won the title on November 6, 2020 with an exciting 10-round unanimous decision over Kandi Wyatt in Saint Petersburg, Florida.

Reis, who is also a former WBC Middleweight world champion has wins over Maricela Cornejo (4-1) and Patricia Juarez (4-1).

Prazak of Melbourne, Australia has a record of 14-3 with nine knockouts, won the WBA Super Featherweight title with an 8th round stoppage over Frida Wallberg on June 14, 2013 in Sweden. She defended the title once with a 5th round stoppage over Shannon O’Connell (8-2). Prazak also has wins over Siriphon Chanbuala (10-0-1) and Fatuma Zarika (23-5-1). Prazak is coming off a unanimous decision over Milagros Gabriela Diaz on March 13th in Tijuana, Mexico.

At Thursday’s weigh-in, Reis weighed 139.2 lbs. Prazak was 138.2 lbs.

Directed and produced by award-winning Josef Kubota Wladyka, the movie premiered on June 13, at the famed Tribeca Film Festival with the film and Reis garnering awards and rave reviews, as her character searches for her missing sister. This past Friday night, Kali Reis won the WBA Super Lightweight world championship with a unanimous decision over Kandi Wyatt in an action packed fight in front of a sold out crowd in Saint Petersburg, Florida

The fight will air on Saturday, November 14 on Impact Network to 90 million homes. The start time is 10:30 PM ET.

Steven Marcano the programming partner to Impact Network stated “The Reis- Wyatt event was needed for us as we haven’t put a show since February 1st. That card saw Austin Trout headline to a sold out crowd in New Mexico. For this past weekend’s event, I wanted to showcase a championship bout with a crowd, and when this opportunity was presented, we decided to press re-start. We did the show in a smaller venue, and we had to downsize our production because because of the restrictions. We have to make sure that we are able to control the safety of fighters, fans and staff. That is our primary concern. We will be doing shows in 3,000-5000 seat venues as long it permits, and Impact Boxing will do an arena show Super Bowl weekend.. This is why we wanted to start off with a show at a smaller venue, yet still bring a championship fight.”

“We will put our fights in bigger venues and abide by all state and commission regulations. If we feel that the state or commission changes, we will abide.”

In 2021, Impact Boxing will start on January 9th, and following up on February 5th, with a show from an arena in Tampa, Florida that will be a big event that will coincide with the Super Bowl Impact Boxing is committed to airing only premium events.

NEW YORK (November 9, 2020)– This past weekend, Split-T Management fighters were perfect by winning four bouts, which included adding another world champion to boxing’s premier management company.

Friday night in Saint Petersburg, Florida, Kali Reis captured the WBA Super Lightweight World Championship with a 10-round unanimous decision over Kandi Wyatt.

Reis was brilliant throughout the fight as she showed terrific boxing skills and the Providence, Rhode Island native was dominant with a piston-like jab and pinpoint left hooks. Reis moved around the ring with great footwork that set up her shots against the hard charging Wyatt.

Reis took the title by winning by scores of 97-93, 97-92 and 96-94 to become a two-weight division world champion as she had previously won the WBC Middleweight championship.

On the same card, super middleweight Isaiah Steen remained perfect by taking out veteran Juan De Angel in round five of their scheduled six-round bout.

Steen scored two knockdowns which included the final hook that sent De Angel down, and the fight was stopped at 23 seconds of the 5th round. De Angel had previously lasted the distance with world champions Caleb Plan and Austin Trout.

Steen of Cleveland is now 15-0 with 12 knockouts.

The wins by Reis and Steen were seen on Impact Network, and will be replayed on November 14th at 10:30 PM ET

Saturday night in Philadelphia, Mark Dawson shook off a 20-month layoff with a six-round unanimous decision over crosstown rival Vincent Floyd.

Dawson worked well as he was proficient with his overhand left and right hooks from the southpaw stance.

Dawson won by scores of 60-54 twice and 59-55 to raise his mark to 7-0-1.

Also on Saturday night, prized amateur standout Tika Hemingway made her long-awaited professional debut with a four round unanimous decision over Miranda Barber in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Scores were 40-36 on all cards.

Hemingway, who was amateur rivals with Clarissa Shields, and has three wins over WBC and WBO World Champion, Franchon Crews Dezurn.

Kali Reis will take on Kandi Wyatt for the WBA Super Lightweight title; And undefeated super middleweight Isaiah Steen battles Juan De Angel in a bout scheduled for six-rounds.

Reis of Providence, Rhode Island has a record of 16-7-1 with five knockouts, and will look to become a two-division world champion, Reis is the former WBC Middleweight champion. She won that title with a 10-round split decision over Maricelo Cornejo on April 16, 2016 in Auckland, New Zealand. Reis has won three in a row, which includes a unanimous decision over Patricia Juarez on August 29, 2019.

Wyatt of Calgary, Alberta, Canada has a record of 10-1 with three knockouts. Wyatt has won two straight and this will be her 2nd attempt at a world title.

Steen, 24 of Cleveland has a record of 14-0 with 11 knockouts. The four-year professional has wins over Carlos Ruiz (8-2) and Gorjan Slaveski (5-0). Steen is coming off a 1st round stoppage over Kenneth Council on February 8th.

De Angel of Barranquilla, Colombia has a record of 22-12-1 with 20 knockouts. He has a win over Jose Pinzon (25-6), and he has also faced world champions Gilberto Ramirez, Austin Trout and Caleb Plant.

At Thursday’s weigh-in, both Reis and Wyatt weighed 139.2 lbs.

Steen weighed 166.6, while De Angel was 167.

IMPACT plans to have a 24-show calendar for 2021 and plans many more shows with DiBella Entertainment. IMPACT Boxing is also excited to welcome boxing great Antonio Tarver, who will call the action from ringside, along with Curran Bhatia and ringside reporter and boxing insider Zach Hirsch.”

Reis is a former WBC middleweight world champion. Her nickname, “KO Mequinonoag”, which means “many feathers, many talents”, represents her Native American heritage, of which she is part Cherokee, Nipmuc, and Seaconke Wampanoag. In one of women’s boxing’s biggest events, Reis challenged then-undisputed welterweight world champion Cecilia Braekhus in 2018. It was the first women’s bout telecast by HBO World Championship Boxing in its 45-year history. Remarkably, the fight averaged 904,000 viewers, the second highest rating by the network for boxing during that year. Reis has rebounded with three wins in a row.

Wyatt, promoted by Michael Short’s Dekada Promotions, is a former world title challenger, having faced Linardatou for the WBO world female super lightweight title in March 2019. She was a highly accomplished amateur, before her 2014 pro debut, becoming a 10-time Provincial champion, six-time National champion and four-time Ringside World Tournament champion.

Rising lightweight Victor Padilla (8-0, 7 KOs) will be featured in a six-round bout. Trained by Rashiem Jefferson and managed by Carlos Rosario, the heavy-handed Padilla has stopped six of his opponents inside the opening round. Born in Puerto Rico, now living in Berlin, NJ, Padilla turned professional in December 2016, following a stellar amateur career that included three National championships, ending with a record of 90-7.

Elvis Garcia (8-0, 5 KOs) will clash with Dell Long (7-6-2, 4 KOs), of Artie, WV, in an attractive six-round heavyweight bout. Born in Mexico, now living in Indio, CA, trained by Joel Diaz, Garcia returns to the ring following a victory against Hugo Trujillo. He also recently gained invaluable experience working as the “secret weapon sparring partner” that promoter Eddie Hearn referred to with regard to Anthony Joshua’s preparation for his rematch against Andy Ruiz last year. Prior to turning pro, Garcia was an outstanding amateur with a record of 85-10, 42 KOs. After winning gold at the Washington State Golden Gloves, as well as a silver and two bronze medals at USA National Tournaments, Garcia moved to Tijuana, Mexico, where he won the Mexican National Championships and the Mexican Golden Gloves Tournament twice. Long is coming off of an unexpected upset win against Don Haynesworth (16-4-1) on August 29, and he also owns a knockout victory against 13-1 Travis Clark.

Heavyweight prospect Jeremiah Milton (1-0, 1 KO), originally from Tulsa, OK, now based in Las Vegas, NV, will compete in a four-round bout against Robert Brothers, of Titusville, FL. Milton’s pro debut on August 20 lasted just 75 seconds, ending with a knockout of Dennis Vance Jr. As an amateur, Milton was a super heavyweight silver medalist at the 2019 US Olympic Trials. In preparation for his pro debut, Milton sparred with Luis Ortiz, Joe Joyce and Guido Vianello.

New York, NY (August 27, 2019) Former Women’s World Champion Kali “KO Mequinonoag” Reis (15-7-1, 5 KOs), of Providence, RI, will return to battle this Thursday night, August 29, against Patricia Juarez, of Denver, CO, in a welterweight clash featured on DiBella Entertainment’s stacked Broadway Boxing card from Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Mashantucket, CT. The event will be live streamed exclusively on UFC FIGHT PASS®, the world’s leading digital subscription service for combat sports,starting at 9:00pm ET/6:00pm PT. Reis vs. Juarez will be one of three women’s bouts presented on the 109th installment of the long-running Broadway Boxing series.

In a 10-round women’s world championship bout, Alicia “The Empress” Napoleon-Espinosa (11-1, 6 KOs), of Lindenhurst, NY, will defend her WBA Super Middleweight World Title against undefeated contender Schemelle Baldwin (3-0-1, 2 KOs), of Newark, DE.

Additionally, in a six-round super bantamweight clash, popular New Haven, CT, native and former world title challenger Helen “Iron Lady” Joseph (15-3-2, 10 KOs) battles Martina Horgasz (5-3, 4 KOs), of Budapest, Hungary.

Reis fought in a high-profile women’s bout in May 2018 challenging undisputed women’s welterweight world champion Cecilia Braekhus in Carson, CA. Despite dropping the champion for the first time in her illustrious career, Reis would lose a hard-fought 10-round decision. The championship contest was the first women’s boxing bout telecast by HBO Boxing in its 45-year history. Reis initially made her mark in women’s boxing traveling to New Zealand in 2016, where she won the vacant WBC Women’s Middleweight Title via 10-round decision versus Maricela Cornejo. In her last start, Reis scored a sixth-round knockout of Szilvia Szabados on October 18, 2018. Victorious in the first four bouts of her professional career, Denver’s Juarez (4-1) will look to bounce back into the win column following a 10-round decision loss to undefeated Selina Barrios on September 22, 2018, in Corpus Christi, TX.

Napoleon-Espinosa will be defending her world title that she captured on March 3, 2018, with a 10-round decision against previously undefeated Femke Hermans in front of her legion of fans at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. She followed that with a 10-round world title defense against Hannah Rankin on August 4, 2018, at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, in Uniondale, NY. The popular Napoleon-Espinosa kicked off 2019 with a second-round knockout of Eva Bajic on April 10, in New York City.

Fighting out of Philadelphia, PA, Baldwin, a four-time Golden Gloves champion, was victorious in her first three professional bouts, with two by knockout. In her most recent start, she battled to a split decision draw against Kayla Williams on March 30, in Hockessin, DE.

A native of Nigeria, Joseph is undefeated over her last five bouts capped by a six-round decision victory versus Edina Kiss earlier this month on August 3. She challenged Jennifer Han in September 2015 for the vacant IBF Women’s Featherweight Title, losing a close 10-round decision. The 20-year-old Martina Horgasz is coming off of a six-round decision loss to undefeated prospect Rosalina Rodriguez on April 25.

Headlining the Broadway Boxing August 29 event, New England fighters Toka Kahn “T Nice” Clary (26-2, 18 KOs), a native of Liberia, now fighting out of Providence, RI, and Irvin Gonzalez (12-1, 9 KOs), of Worcester, MA, will battle in scheduled 10-round bout for the vacant WBA NABA US super featherweight title. Victorious in seven of his last eight starts, the 27-year-old Clary returns to action following a fifth-round knockout of Carlos Manuel Reyes on May 17, also at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Prior to the Reyes stoppage, Clary lost a hotly contested 12-round unanimous decision to world ranked and undefeated contender Kid Galahad on October 20, 2018, in Boston, MA. Unbeaten through his first 12 pro fights, the 23-year-old Gonzalez is determined to bounce back into the win column following his only loss to Elijah Pierce on May 17.

In the heavyweight division, Stephan “Big Shot” Shaw (11-0, 8 KOs), of St. Louis, MO, and Willie “Snake” Jake Jr. (8-2-1, 2 KOs), of Indianapolis, IN,will clash in an eight-round bout. On March 3, 2019, the heavy-handed Shaw knocked out Donovan Dennis in the third round in Columbus, OH. The upset-minded Jake Jr. will be looking to rebound following a loss to undefeated prospect Frank Sanchez Faure on January 11, in Shreveport, LA.

Undefeated junior middleweight prospect Hurshidbek “Hershey” Normatov (8-0, 3 KOs), a native of Andijan, Uzbekistan, faces tough veteran Walter “2 Guns” Wright (17-6-0, 8 KOs), of Seattle, WA, in a scheduled eight-rounder with the vacant WBA NABA US 154-pound title at stake. A resident of Brooklyn, NY, the southpaw Normatov cruised to victory in his most recent bout, earning a six-round unanimous decision versus Calvin Metcalf on April 10, in New York, NY. On June 23, 2018, Wright scored the biggest win of his professional career, winning a 12-round decision against previously undefeated Mark DeLuca, in Gilford, NH.

In the junior welterweight division, Adrian “Tonka” Sosa (11-0, 9 KOs), of Lawrence, MA, battles Rondale Hubbert (13-9-2, 8 KOs), of Minneapolis, MN, in a six-round bout. Fighting for the third time in 2019, the 24-year-old Sosa hits the ring following a first-round knockout of Benjamin Borteye on May 17.

Local junior lightweight prospect Jacob Marrero (3-0, 2 KOs), of Bridgeport, CT, will be featured in a four-round bout against the pro-debuting Juan Ibarra, of Willow Springs, NC.

Rounding out the card in a four-round junior welterweight contest, Nelson Perez (1-0, 1 KO), of Marlboro, MA, battles Devon Grant (0-1), of The Bronx, NY.

KALI REIS (now 15-7-1 5KO’s) was back in action on Thursday night at a private event at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington D.C., taking on tough Hungarian, SZILVIA SZABADOS (now 18-13 9KO’s).

Reis boxing skill was on full display, as she attacked the body and the head landing at will. After dominating the entirety of the first five rounds of the sixth round fight, Reis wanted to leave a statement, and that she did.

Within the first minute of the final round, Reis landed a vicious three punch combination, finishing with a flush left hand to the temple of Szabados that dropped the Hungarian in a heap. After Szabados regained her footing, Reis went on the attack, landing another crushing left hand, causing the ref to call a stop to the action at the 1:30 mark in the sixth round.

Kali Reis now has her sights set on a rematch with undisputed women’s champion Cecilia Braekhus, after their electrifying bout in May on the undercard of GGG Martirosyan on HBO. After knocking down the undisputed champion Braekhus for the first time in her professional career, Braekhus received the victory, to the displeasure of the crowd, and many of those watching at home. During the post fight interview with, Max Kellerman, the fans were still booing the decision and Braekhus wisely and bravely said she would give Reis a deserved rematch. Reis now wonders if Braekhus just said that to quiet the fans or will she bravely give everyone the anxiously awaited rematch?

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (June 26, 2018) – In advance of her fight this Saturday night at Mohegan Sun Arena, three-time world champion Kali “KO Mequinonoag” Reis held an open media workout today at Big Six Academy in Providence, Rhode Island.

Fighting out of nearby Cranston, RI, Reis (13-7-1, 4 KOs) will face former world title challenger Patty “La Elegante” Ramirez (11-5, 5 KOs), of Mexico, in an eight-round welterweight bout.

Reis vs. Ramirez is the co-featured bout on the “SLUGFEST AT THE SUN” card, presented by JOE DEGUARDIA’S STAR BOXING, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Reis is coming off a historic fight last month versus undisputed women’s world welterweight champion and pound-4-pound Queen, 33-0 Cecilia Braekhus, in the first female bout ever featured on HBO. Reis dropped Braekhus for the first time in her professional career, however the judges scored the fight in favor of Braekhus, over ruckus boo’s from the crowd.

In the main event, after eleven months out of the ring due to a broken jaw, the “Common Man”, Union Local 66 laborer, Joe Smith Jr. returns at the beautiful Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
