Ohara Davies won a 10-round majority decision over Tyrone McKenna in a super lightweight bout in Yorkshire, England to win the Golden Contract Tournament.

Davies, 139.9 lbs of Essex won by scores of 96-94 twice and 95-95 and is now 22-2. McKenna, 139.9 lbs of Belfast, IRL is 21-2-1.

Serge Michel stopped Liam Conroy in the 4th round of their light heavyweight bout.

Michel of German is 11-1 with eight knockouts. Conroy is 18-6-1.

Steven Ward won a six-round decision over Jone Volau in a cruiserweight bout.

Ward, 202.4 lbs of Belfast, NI won by a 59-55 tally, and is now 13-1. Volau, 197 lbs is 5-6.

Ben Fail made a successful pro debut with a six-round decision over Robbie Chapman in a middleweight fight.

Fail, 158.2 lbs of Northhampton won by a 60-54 score and is 1-0. Cha,pman, 163.4 lbs is 6-5.

Stephen Ward won a close technical unanimous decision over Liam Conroy in a light heavyweight bout.

n round two, Ward was cut badly over the left eye. In round four, Conroy scored a knockdown from a nice flurry of punches.

The cut kept streaming from around the eye of Ward, and the fight was stopped in the eighth round, due to an accidental headbutt.

Ward, 174 lbs of Belfast, Ireland won by scores of 76-75 on all cards and is now 12-0. Conroy, 174.7 lbs of England is 17-5-1.

Tyrone McKenna won a 10-roun unanimous decision over Darragh Foley in a junior welterweight bout.

In round three, McKenna began to bleed over his right eye. A worse cut opened up over his left eye in the 5th round from an accidental headbutt.

In round eight, McKenna scored a knockdown as Foley went down from a couple of non descript shots.

McKenna, 139.1 lbs won by scores of 98-91 twice and 97-93, and is now 20-1-1. Foley, 139 lbs is 17-4-1.

Paddy Gallagher stopped previously undefeated Liam Wells in round three of their scheduled eight-round welterweight bout.

In round three, Gallagher hurt Wells with a hard left hand. Gallagher jumped on Wells, and landed about 10 unanswered punches, and the bout was stopped at 1:15.

Gallagher, 152.2 lbs is 16-5 with 10 knockouts. Wells, 151.4 lbs is 5-1

Lewis Crocker won a six-round decision over Karim Aliliche in a welterweight contest.

Crocker dropped Aliliche in the 1st minute with a left hook to the head.

Crocker, 152.4 lbs won by a 60-53 score, and is now 9-0. Aliliche, 148.2 lbs is 11-9-2.

(June 20, 2019) — A pair of MTK Global Fight Nights featuring many of Europe’s top up-and-comers will be featured this weekend on ESPN+, the leading multi-sport streaming service.

On Friday, from the historic Ulster Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Steven “The Quiet Man” Ward will face off against Liam Conroy in a 10-rounder for the vacant WBO European light heavyweight title. The following day, from Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland, 22-year-old sensation Lee McGregor will make the first defense of his Commonwealth bantamweight title against Scott Allan in a 12-round showdown.

The Ward-Conroy and McGregor-Allan cards will begin at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT.

Ward (11-0, 4 KOs) will be taking part in only his second scheduled 10-rounder, but he has kept busy in the paid ranks, scoring dominant victories in March and April of this year. He will be taking a big step up in class versus Conroy (17-4-1, 9 KOs), a former English light heavyweight champion who made two defenses of that title. Conroy was knocked out in three rounds in March by top prospect Joshua Buatsi for the vacant British light heavyweight title, but he came back in May to score a second-round knockout over Elvis Dube. 

McGregor (6-0, 5 KOs), a 22-year-old from Edinburgh, Scotland, won the Commonwealth title last October with a 12th-round knockout over Thomas Essomba. He returned last month in a six-round non-title bout, scoring a six-round decision over journeyman Brett Fidoe. Allan (9-3-1, 0 KOs) has won two in a row, most notably defeating Gary Rae (8-0 at the time) via unanimous decision to pick up the Celtic bantamweight belt.

Charlie Edwards retained the WBC Flyweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision over Angel Moreno at The Copper Box Arena in London.

Edwards won by scores of 120-107 on all cards and is now 15-1. Moreno is 19-3-2.

Joshua Buatsi remained undefeated by stopping Liam Conroy in round three of a scheduled 12-round light heavyweight bout.

In round three, Buatsi landed a big right hook and then a left as Conroy was falling to the canvas. Conroy was hurt, and then ate a huge right hand that put him down for a 2nd time. Conroy was able to beat the count, but the fight was stopped at 1:53.

Buatsi, 173.4 lbs is 10-0 with eight knockouts. Conroy, 173.6 lbs is 16-4-1.

Lewis Ritson won a 10-round unanimous decision pver German Argentino Benitez in a junior welterweight bout.

Benitez was bleeding from his nose in round four.

Ritson, 139.4 lbs of New Castle, UK won by scores of 99-91 and 98-92 twice, and is now 18-1. Benitez, 139.4 lbs of Buenos Aries, ARG is 21-4.

Lawrence Okolie stopped Wadi Camacho in round four of their scheduled 10-round cruiserweight bout.

Okolie dropped Camacho in round four with a three-punch combination. Seconds later, Okolie landed a big shot, and the fight was stopped at 2:00.

Okolie is 12-0 with nine knockouts. Camacho is 21-8.

Croydon Light-Heavyweight star Joshua Buatsi has vowed to ruin Liam Conroy’s dream of becoming the first man from Barrow-in-Furness to win the Lord Lonsdale Challenge Belt at London’s Copper Box Arena on Saturday.

Buatsi has won all nine of his fights, seven inside the distance, since turning pro in 2017, while Conroy has spent five years longer in the paid ranks, winning 16 fights and claiming the English title against Joel McIntyre in 2017.

The 26-year-old, an Olympic bronze medalist, won the WBA International 175lbs title against Andrejs Pokumeiko at The O2 last year and is keen to add domestic belts to his collection before targeting World honours.

“It’s something I must add to my cupboard, I’ve got space in there to add another trophy and that’s the next one I’ll be doing,” said Buatsi. “He’s won his last 10, knocked out his last five. This is his dream to become champion and I’ll be there to stop it.

“Most importantly champions that have come out of this country have pretty much gone that same route. They have won the British title before and have gone on to win big things. So for me it’s important to kind of follow that step, just to show that ok ‘he’s conquered Britain’ and then I will look elsewhere.

“It will be World titles after that but it’s for the team to sit down and come up with the best route possible for myself but most importantly it’s all focus for Saturday night to make sure I win that title.”
