They call me “Koreano.” I am using this letter to officially let my former promoters, Terry Hollan and Guy Taylor of the World Cup Boxing Series, know that due to your many violations of our contract, and violations of the Muhammad Ali Act, my manager, Emanuel Romo, and I have hired the services of San Antonio attorney Michael Miller to terminate my promotional contract with you immediately.

Also know that I fully intend to proceed with my 10-round fight against Claudio Gabriel Daneff for the WBC Continental Americas Lightweight Championship on October 21 at the Club Atletico Stockolmo in Montevideo, Uruguay.

May I remind you both:

You said I was scheduled for a July 7 fight against Fradimil Macayo, but then two weeks before the fight, you told my team the fight had been canceled. We later learned the fight was never scheduled and you were not being honest.

Next you offered me an August 12 fight against Raymond Muratalla. You said it was going to be in the co-feature of the Oscar Valdez vs Emmanuel Navarrete show in Phoenix. But then, even though it was broadcast nationally by ESPN and held in front of a live audience of more than 15 thousand people, you offered to pay me $20,000 for the fight. My team talked to Top Rank and their offer was $75,000 – they confirmed it in writing. You’re my promoters and you intended to keep $55,000.00 of my money? You both know my contract clearly stipulates your share should never be greater than 20% for any fight.

Then next you offered me a televised main event against Angel Fierro on September 15, for a pitiful $15,000. I assume you were trying to keep a big part of that purse as well?

And then when I told you I was tired of being lied to and was going to continue my career against Daneff in October in Uruguay, you tried to block the fight by claiming you had a fight locked in for me against Ryan Garcia for the end of November. We talked to Golden Boy. You lied again.

I would also like to let everyone know that your World Cup Boxing Series approaches and signs Mexican fighters while posing as American promoters, but you have never held a promoter’s license in the State of Texas or any other.

This is my only comment to you on this matter. Send me an immediate release from my contract or I’ll see you in court and they can sever it for me.

The 20-year-old Torres, the reigning WBC Latino lightweight champion, displayed all his skills in a relatively one-sided fight against Gutierrez, in which Torres won nine of 10 rounds in the non-title fight. Cota’s younger brother, 17-year-old featherweight Alejandro Cota (3-1, 1 KOs), also suffered his first loss as a professional, dropping a 4-round unanimous decision to Alex Fuentas Borbon (3-0). Cota was also a standout amateur boxer.

Also scheduled to be in action is another pair of talented Mexican lightweights, undefeated Marco Cota Moreno (8-0, 6 KOs) in his first scheduled 8-round bout, and Misael “Pichon” Urias (12-1, 9 KOs) in an 8-rounder.

The 20-year-old Moreno was 146-4 as an amateur, highlighted by a bronze-medal performance at the 2015 National Tournament, in addition to winning a gold medal as National Champion. He was also a 5-time Sonora State Champion.

Urias, 23, lost for the first time as a pro in his last fight, on the road in Montreal, to Mithieu Germain (20-2-1) by way of a competitive 10-round decision this past June 2nd.

The 20-year-old Torres, who fought in his hometown, was in his eighth RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS show. Torres took early control, winning the first seven rounds on one of the judges’ scorecards, 6 of 7 on another, and he cruised to victory from there. The former WBC Youth Silver lightweight champion is clearly a fighter to watch as he prepares to break into the world rankings and possibly challenge one of the top guys in the absolutely loaded 135-pound division in the not-too-distant future.

In the co-featured event, Bryan “Zama” Zamarripa (11-1, 3 KOs) edged previously unbeaten Yair Marmolejo Rojas (7-1-2, 5 KOs) by way of an 8-round majority decision in an evenly matched bout.

The development of 19-year-old undefeated lightweight Marco Cota Moreno (7-0, 5 KOs) continues to be impressive. Moreno, who was a decorated amateur boxer, stopped Juan Leonel “La Vitola” Ortega Resendez (4-3-1, 2 KOs) in the third round. Andrade last fought this past November 10th, in which he won a 10-round decision over Jose Rodriguez Villareal. The consummate boxer, Andrade’s most notable victories to date were decisions against 29-1-2 Jorge “Pilon” Lara and 16-4-1 Alex Reyes.

The 20-year-old Torres has been the tournament favorite since it was announced. He has become a regular fighter on RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS with this being his eighth appearance. A gifted all-around boxer, the lefthanded Torres is a former WBC Youth Silver Lightweight Champion, as well as a rising lightweight star.

The Torres vs. Andrade fight, if needed, will have an “overtime” round to declare a winner in the event of a draw upon the conclusion of the scheduled distance. The World Boxing Council (WBC) sanctions the tournament, and the eventual victor will not only be crowned the new WBC Latino Lightweight Champion but also receive a WBC world rating.

Torres knocked out Rodolfo “Rudy” Flores (14-6, 6 KOs) in round four this past February at the same venue, after dropping him in the second and third rounds.

“It was a tough fight versus Flores, “the 20-year-old Torres said. “I knew I had to knock him out, so I just focused on the knockout and put technique aside. I wanted to give my fans a knockout and I got it.

“My upcoming fight will be different, more strategic. We need more boxing resources because he is a tall fighter who likes to control his distance, throwing long punches and side stepping very well. It will be a very difficult fight than the one I had with Flores.”

Torres, who had a 23-1 (22 KOs) amateur record, turned pro at the age of 16. He grew up in one of the roughest neighborhoods, Colonia Cajeme, in Obregon, Sonora.

SAN CARLOS, Sonora, Mexico (August 26, 2020) -The first RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS® event in 6 ½ months was held last night, showcasing a trio of undefeated prospects, at Marinaterra Hotel & Spa in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico.

Luis “Koreano” Torres, World Boxing Council (WBC) No. 15 rated welterweight Santiago “Somer” Dominguez and Jermone Jones, Jr. all remained undefeated.

In the main event, Torres improved to 10-0 (8 KOs) with a convincing win by 10-round unanimous decision over Jose Luis Vazquez (10-2, 3 KOs) for the vacant WBC Youth Silver lightweight championship. Torres, whose nickname is for his Asian features, had never fought more than four rounds during his young pro career.

Dominguez (22-0, 17 KOs) dropped late replacement and fellow Mexican knockout artist, Jadalberto “Terrible” Borquez (30-20-1, 27 KOs), three times in the first round of their title fight for the WBC FECARBOX and WBC United States welterweight crowns. Borquez, a former WBC Continental Americas featherweight champion, was blasted out by rising star Dominguez in the opening round.

The top world-rated Mexican welterweight in the world, Dominguez has now stopped nine of his last 10 opponents, as he ascends the rankings with each fight. He won the vacant FECARBOX title and retained his WBC U.S. crown.

The 25-year-old Jones (6-0, 6 KOs), the only non-Mexican fighter on the card, kept his perfect pro record intact, winning all six of his fights by stoppage, with a 4th-round knockout of Mario “Cachalote” Israel Vera (6-2, 0 KOs). Jones, fighting out of Phoenix, AZ, fought past the second round for the first time since his pro debut last November.

Super middleweight prospects Juan “Just Business” Barajas (11-0, 7 KOs) and Jose “Toro” Resendiz (11-0, 8 KOs) battle for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Latino title, headlining tomorrow night’s (Thurs., Aug. 27) RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS® event, starting at 10:30 p.m. ET / 7:30 p.m. PT, from Marinaterra Hotel & Spa in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico, in an extremely rare match between undefeated prospects.

In two other bouts, unbeaten Las Vegas-based Mexican super bantamweight Ezequiel Borrero (3-0, 1 KO) won a 4-round unanimous decision over Jhoan Cano (1-2, 1 KO), while welterweight Jesus “Fierro” Lopez (2-0, 2 KOs) knocked out Bryan Joel Morales (0-4) in round one.
