VIDEO: Country Box Weigh-in (Anderson vs Bailey)

Mielnicki stops Delomba in 10th

Vito Milenicki Jr. stopped Nicholas Delomba in the 10th and final round of their welterweight bout.

Mielnicki dominated the fight, and in round 10 landed a hard right that rocked Delomba. Mielnicki hurt Delomba some more with a follow up flurry, and the corner stopped the bout at 1:49.

Mielnicki Jr., 146.4 lbs of Roseland, NJ is 10-1 with seven knockouts. Delomba, 145.4 lbs of Providence, RI is 16-4.

In a rematch, Rajon Chance won a six-round split decision over Elon De Jesus in a featherweight fight.

Chance, 125 lbs of East Orange, NJ won by scores of 59-55 and 58-58 and is now 6-0-1. De Jesus, 123.8 lbs of Dunkirk, NY took a card 58-56 and is now 3-1-1.

Yoelvis Gomez remained perfect with an opening round stoppage over Clay Collard in their six-round super welterweight fight.

Minutes into the fight, Gomez hurt Collard with a hard left. Gomez put Collard on the canvas after landing 12 hard shots. Gomez continued the onslaught that forced a referee stoppage at 2:11.

Gomez, 157.4 lbs of Havana, CUB is 5-0 with five knockouts. Collard, 158.8 lbs of Burley, ID is 9-6-3.

Joey Spencer stopped Limberth Ponce in round six of their eight-round super welterweight fight.

In round six, Spencer landed a hard right that hurt Ponce. Spencer then landed a huge left-right combination that sent Ponce crumbling down over his right leg, and the bout was stopped at 1:24.

Spencer, 156.4 lbs of Lindin, MI is 13-0 with 10 knockouts. Ponce, 155.6 lbs of Acapulco, MEX is 18-5.

Kenneth Sims Jr. won a eight-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Keshawn Williams in a welterweight bout.

Sims, 145.8 lbs of Chicago, IL won by scores of 79-73 twice and 78-74 and is now 17-2-1. Williams, 146.4 lbs of Washington, DC us 8-1-1.

Travon Marshall stopped Brian Jones in round four of their four-round super welterweight fight.

Marshall dominated the fight until the fight was stopped at 2:18 of round three.

Marshall, 149.6 lbs of Landover, MD is 4-0 with three knockouts. Jones, 148.8 lbs of Clarksville, TX is 15-13.

Michael Anderson scored a 3rd round stoppage over Noe Lopez in a scheduled six-round welterweight bout.

In round three, Anderson dropped Lopez with a big right. Seconds later, it was a double-hook that sent Lopez down for the 10-count at 33 seconds.

Anderson, 147 lbs of Newark, NJ is now 22-3-1 with 16 knockouts. Lopez, 146.6 lbs of Jalisco, MEX is 10-5-1.

NEWARK, N.J. (December 24, 2021) – Welterweight contender Kenneth Sims Jr. will take on undefeated prospect Keeshawn Williams in an eight-round showdown that tops FS1 PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes Saturday, December 25 as part of a jam-packed Christmas Day lineup from Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

The FS1 telecast will begin at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT and also features unbeaten super welterweight prospect Travon Marshall (3-0, 2 KOs) in a four/six-round fight against Brian Jones (15-12, 9 KOs), plus a six-round welterweight duel between Newark’s Michael Anderson (21-3-1, 15 KOs) and Mexico’s Noe Lopez (10-4-1, 4 KOs).

Following the FS1 telecast, FOX PBC Fight Night begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT with welterweight prospect and New Jersey-native Vito Mielnicki Jr. taking on Nicholas DeLomba in the 10-round main event. The broadcast will also see sensational unbeaten prospect Joey Spencer battling Mexico’s Limberth Ponce for eight-rounds of middleweight action in the co-main event, plus featherweights Rajon Chance and Elon de Jesus duel in a six-round rematch, and unbeaten super welterweight prospect Yoelvis Gomez faces Clay Collard in a six-round attraction.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are on sale now and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com.

The 27-year-old Sims (16-2-1, 5 KOs) returns to the ring for the first time since a career-best victory in May saw him earn a decision over the previously unbeaten Elvis Rodriguez. A Chicago-native, Sims has won four of his last five fights dating back to a 2018 draw against Montana Love.

Fighting out of his native Washington, D.C., Williams (8-0-1, 2 KOs) will look to close out 2021 with a second victory after defeating Antonio Sanchez by unanimous decision in August. The 24-year-old had previously beaten Gaku Takahashi in January 2020 as part of a seven-bout winning streak dating back to a split-draw in his second pro fight.

The non-televised undercard will also include Malik Nelson (1-0, 1 KO) facing Prince Martin (1-0, 1 KO) in a four-round super bantamweight contest. Rounding out the lineup are three fighters making their pro debuts as welterweight Dwyke Flemmings takes on George Gethers (0-2) in a four-round fight, super lightweight Elijah Flores steps in for a four-round attraction against Shannon Hawkins (0-2) and welterweight Vincent Gigante competes in a four-round duel against Robbie Rose (0-1).

Jonathan Rice Scores Upset Stoppage Over Michael Coffie

NEWARK, NJ–In the main event of a PBC on FOX card from the Prudential Center, South Carolina’s Jonathan Rice (14-6-1, 10KO) scored an upset fifth round stoppage over previously unbeaten ex-Marine Michael Coffie (12-1, 9KO).

Rice, a late replacement for Gerald Washington who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the week, set the tone early in round one, consistently finding a home for his right hand.

Uncomfortable with how the first three minutes played out, the orthodox Coffie switched to southpaw in the second and experienced brief success before the momentum pendulum swung back in the 34 year-old Rice’s favor who kept the right hands coming behind an active jab.

Coffie, a 35 year-old former US Marine, was unable to make the necessary adjustments to stymie Rice’s offense, and eventually, midway through round five, the dam broke.  Right hands from Rice sent an exhausted and energy-zapped Coffie lazily retreating toward a neutral corner.  An ensuing brief barrage of uncontested blows by Rice was enough for referee Eric Dali to step in and save Coffie from further punishment at the 2:19 mark.

Vito Mielnicki Scores TKO2 Over Noah Kidd

In the contest in which most fans in attendance came to witness, Jersey boy Vito Mielnicki Jr. (9-1, 6KO) powered his way to a TKO2 over late replacement Noah Kidd (6-4-2, 5KO).

Up until yesterday afternoon Mielnicki had his sights set on extracting revenge against James Martin, who eked out a majority decision over him in April.  However, when Martin came in 4.5 pounds overweight the 147 welterweight limit on Friday, the Martin rematch was called off and in stepped Kidd.

And any frustration Mielnicki harbored toward Martin missing weight, he took out on Kidd.  The 19 year-old put his power on display, landing a perfectly leveraged counter left hook that simultaneously dropped Kidd his ass while bringing hundreds of Mielnicki supporters roaring to their feet.

In the second, another Mielnicki left caused a wounded Kidd’s hands to drop as he slowly retreated.  Smelling blood in the water Mielnicki turned up the heat, bullying Kidd to the ringpost where he unloaded a barrage of body shots.  Moments later, after clipping Kidd once more with a left on the chin, referee Eric Dali stepped in to halt the action at the 2:32 mark of round two.

“There were no issues with the change of opponent,” Mielnicki said post-fight.  “I trained for a more technical fighter. Kidd was more awkward than Martin. We got the job done in front of my hometown fans, so I’m happy.

On the hundreds of fans who flocked to downtown Newark to show support, Mielnicki said, “This is my home and these are my people. Whenever we fight in Jersey this is where we’re doing it. I’m looking forward to many more fights here.”

Spencer Cruises To Wide Decision Over Martin

In the first of three contests to be aired nationally on FOX, Joey Spencer (13-0, 9KO) battled his way to a unanimous decision victory over Philadelphia’s James Martin (7-3).  At the end of eight rounds, judges cards read 79-73×2 and 80-72 all for Michigan’s Spencer.

There wasn’t much in this 24 minute “middleweight” affair…little risks (especially from Spencer) and fewer rewards.  Martin, who has yet to score a win via KO in his ten fight career tried to walk down the bigger and stronger Spencer, who was more than happy to invite Martin in and pepper him with jabs and left hooks en route to his wide decision victory.

Up until about 1pm Eastern yesterday, both fighters were slated to face different opponents.  Martin was penciled in to rematch Vito Mielnicki Jr., who he bested by majority decision in April, while Spencer was scheduled to square off against Pennsylvania’s Dan Karpency.  However, both Martin and Spencer missed weight Friday afternoon — Martin quite egregiously, coming in 4.5 pounds over his 147 pound target, and Spencer at 156.5, 2.5 pounds over his contractually agreed to weight.

“There were one or two rounds where he was throwing and he had a lot of activity, but I was blocking,” Spencer said afterward.  “I only took one or two shots and to be honest I would have thought it would be a shutout.”

Andre Dirrell Makes It 2-For-2 At Light Heavyweight; Stops Brooker In Three

Former Olympic bronze medalist and interim IBF super middleweight champion Andre “The Matrix” Dirrell (28-3, 18KO) continued his comeback at light heavyweight, scoring an impressive third round TKO over Philadelphia’s Christopher Brooker (16-8, 6KO).

It was all Dirrell from the opening bell, as the southpaw controlled the fight with his jab, rarely letting his left hand fly.  Midway through the second round though, Dirrell started to use that jab to set up his left, which almost exclusively was fired at Brooker’s body.  Then in the third Dirrell put all his punches together, and dropped Brooker with a body shot to the liver.  Brooker beat Ricky Gonzalez’s ten-count but was dropped to a knee moments later following a barrage of punches from Dirrell.  After getting back to his feet one final time, the 37 year-old Dirrell greeted Brooker with more fists of fury until Gonzalez stepped in and stopped the bout at the 2:58 mark.

Tonight marked the first time Dirrell has fought since November 2019.

Paterson’s Norman Neely Stays Perfect, Earns UD Over Juan Torres

Paterson New Jersey’s Norman Neely (9-0, KO) rewarded his patiently waiting fans and remained undefeated by earning a wide six round unanimous decision (60-52, 60-54×2) over fellow heavyweight Juan Torres (6-4-1, 3KO).

In the early rounds, the Texan Torres tried to employ a bull-rush strategy, where he continually charged Neely with the intention of making it an ugly, scrappy affair.  But as the rounds wore on, the soft and doughy Torres began to tire, which allowed for Neely to better manage the distance.

In the fourth, fighting at his desired range, the 31 year-old Neely began to pick apart Torres and as the round drew to a close, viciously battered Torres who was mercifully saved by the bell.

Neely did his best to dispose of the hard-nosed Torres, but there would be no knockdowns, no Great Falls.  Torres joins only Nicoy Clarke as fighters who have managed to go the distance with Silk City’s Neely.

Dargan Detonates Two Rights; Scores TKO2 Over Delgado

In the first match of the FS1 portion of tonight’s card, Philadelphia’s Karl “Dynamite” Dargan (20-1, 10KO) sent Los Angeles’s Ivan Delgado (13-4-2, 6KO) crashing to the canvas twice en route to an emphatic second round TKO victory.

Though it was Dargan’s first fight in almost three years, there was no ring rust evident.  After a competitive first two rounds, Dargan uncorked a vicious counter right uppercut that nearly ripped Delgado’s head off his neck and sent him to the mat.  Too brave for his own good, Delgado beat referee Harvey Dock’s ten count, but was only destined to survive another :30 seconds or so.  The end came when the 36 year-old Dargan landed a right cross to the chin that collapsed Delgado to his knees.  And while Delgado again made it quickly to his feet, referee Dock correctly halted the fight at the 1:09 mark.

In addition to tonight being Dargan’s first fight since November 2018, it was also his first fight without his uncle, the late Naazim Richardson in his corner.

Anderson Scores TKO When Rogers Doesn’t Answer Bell For Rd2

Newark-born Michael Anderson (21-3-1, 15KO) scored a TKO1 over Tennessee’s Demarcus Rogers (14-4-1, 5KO) when Rogers was unable to answer the bell for the second round.  After a fairly competitive first three minutes, with the 40 year-old Anderson getting the better of the action, Rogers was unable to answer the bell for the second round.   Acting on the advice of the ringside physician (perhaps due to a hand or shoulder injury), referee Harvey Dock stopped the contest, resulting in a TKO win for the veteran Anderson.

Jordan Rosario Ekes Out SD Over Fellow Jerseyan Nicky Vitone

In the second fight of the evening Jersey City’s Jordan Rosario (4-10) bested Pine Brook’s Nicky “The Bull” Vitone (5-1-1, 4KO) via split decision in a four round all New Jersey welterweight affair.  The younger, more aggressive Vitone brought the pressure, but the 30 year-old vet Rosario dug in, slipped punches, and fired back enough scoring shots to earn the judges approval.  Scores were 39-37×2 for Rosario, and 39-37 for Vitone.  The decision marks the first win for Rosario, who trains out of the Ironbound Boxing Gym in Newark’s East Ward, since February 2019.

Jersey Debutant Malik Nelson Scores Fourth Rd Stoppage Over Alejandro Ramirez

In the opening contest of a ten bout PBC fight card from the Prudential Center, New Jersey’s Malik Nelson (1-0, 1KO) earned a fourth round TKO  over Colorado’s Alejandro Ramirez (0-2) in his pro debut.  Nelson scored two knockdowns in the first, and kept the heat on until earning the stoppage in the fourth and final round.  A boxer since age five, Nelson racked up seven amateur national championships before stepping away from the sport in 2018 to pursue a college degree.  Now 21 years old, Nelson can call himself a rising junior business administration student at Monmouth University, as well as an undefeated professional prizefighter.

Quadir Albright Stops Jared Tallent In Two

Philadelphia’s Quadir Albright improved to 2-0, 2KO with a second TKO over debutant Jared Tallent.  Albright dropped Tallent in the second, who beat the referee’s count only to take a few more shots before Ricky Gonzalez called off the fight for good at the 1:14 mark.

GREG VENDETTI DEFEATS MICHAEL ANDERSON BY UNANIMOUS DECISION TO WIN IBA JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT WORLD TITLE

Boston, Massachusetts (July 12th, 2019):

In the first ever ticketed event at Encore Boston Harbor, the brand new 2.6 billion dollar resort casino located on Boston’s waterfront, a sold out crowd of 2,300 fans watched hometown hero, Greg Vendetti (22-3-1, 12 KOs) score a shutout unanimous decision over Newark, New Jersey’s Michael Anderson (17-3-1, 12 KOs) to capture the IBA Junior Middleweight World Championship.

Entering the ring to “The Imperial March” aka Darth Vader’s theme song, Vendetti took a cue from the Sith Lord and began a non stop pressure onslaught that Anderson had no answer for at any point in the 12 round fight.

‘The Villain’ continually backed Anderson to the ropes and unleashed a steady torrent of combinations averaging close to 100 punches per round. Vendetti never slowed down, putting on a near flawless performance that saw a bloody and swollen Anderson hold on desperately throughout the fight.

Vendetti’s performance was so dominant that one judge gave him two 10-8 rounds despite no knockdowns in the fight for a final scorecard tally of 120-108 x2 and 120-106.

The Stoneham, Massachusetts native was his usual blunt self in his post fight interview to the delight of the chanting crowd.

“I just love to fight.”, said the new IBA Junior Middleweight Champion who is considering a move down to welterweight.

Whether it’s in the main event of a sold out ballroom for a title or whether I’m alone in a room with another man and two rusty machetes. It’s all the same to me. It’s a fight. I’m ready to die in there and that’s what makes the difference.”

“This was probably one of Vendetti’s best performances. Look at the scorecards. 120-106 is something you don’t see too often.”, said Murphys Boxing founder and Vendetti’s promoter, Ken Casey.

“He’s just relentless. He’s constantly coming forward. Then he’s the type of kid that when he’s done throwing punches in bunches, he gets on the mic and says all the right things. He’s really turning into a star in the area. Sold out venue. Main event. Fighting 12 rounds. Doesn’t phase him at all. The better the competition is, the more rounds he goes, the more pressure he’s under, the better he seems to be. We’re looking to get him back in the ring as soon as possible.”
In the 6 round junior welterweight co-main event Venezuelan Olympian and recent Murphys Boxing signee, Luis Arcon Diaz (8-0, 8 KOs) dominated Argentina’s Mario Lozano (18-4-1, 9 KOs) before scoring a brutal knockout in third round. In what was supposed to Diaz’s toughest fight to date, the 27 year old’s speed and power overwhelmed his opponent from the get go finally stopping him with a face first on the canvas highlight reel knockout.

Dublin’s Lawrence Fryers (11-1, 4 KOs), who was set to face Ray Moylette in a highly anticipated all Irish junior welterweight showdown until visa issues earlier this week left Moylette unable to enter the United States, suffered a major scare in the first round before stopping last minute replacement Bryan Abraham (6-34-1, 6 KOs) by second knockout. Seconds into the fight Abraham caught Fryers with a massive overhand right sending him to the canvas. Fryers beat the count on shaky legs and Abraham charged in and dropped Fryers to his knees for a second knockdown. The heavy handed veteran tried to finish off the New York based Irishman but somehow he survived the onslaught. Clearing his head between rounds, Fryers roared out of the corner at the start of the second and fired off a straight right that badly hurt Abraham who froze and slumped over the ropes, causing the referee to wave off the contest to the roar of the sold out crowd.

In a surprising upset, Carlos Hernandez (4-3-1, 2 KOs) handed local favorite Mike Ohan Jr. (9-1, 5 KOs) his first loss by way of majority decision with scores of 57-57, 58-56 and 59-55. In an incredibly close contest that could have went either way, Hernandez didn’t let the partisan crowd or Ohan Jr.’s undefeated record intimidate him and the Connecticut welterweight fought a gutsy toe to toe performance that earned him a razor thin victory in the 6 round welterweight bout.

Boston based amateur standout, James Perella (4-0, 3 KOs) went the distance for the first time in his young career winning a shutout unanimous decision over crafty MMA veteran, Bryan Goldsby (5-12) with identical scores of 40-35 x3. The popular young welterweight is off to a fast and furious start having 4 fights in only 4 months and against the elusive Goldsby got in some much needed rounds of professional experience.

Soft spoken South Boston favorite, Joe Farina (7-1, 4 KOs) continued his busy 2019 in ring campaign picking up his third win of the year over the near 25 year veteran Jose Angel Ortiz (5-14-1, 2 KOs) with a 4 round unanimous decision in the welterweight division with scores of 39-36 x2 and 40-35. Farina kept Ortiz on the ropes for virtually the entire fight and dropped Ortiz once in the third round.

Opening up the event, Belgium’s Antoine Vanackere (11-1, 6 KOs) made his American debut a successful one, dropping and stopping the always game Mexican veteran, Francisco Medel (13-20, 8 KOs) in the third round of a scheduled 6 round junior welterweight bout.

The phenomenal turn out of 2,300 people, with hundreds more turned away at the door, was enough for Murphys Boxing and Encore Boston Harbor to announce at the end of the night an immediate return event on August 23rd.

“It was a very special night.”, explained Casey after the show.

“To be the first ever ticketed event at a brand new resort casino that hasn’t even been open for month and to sell the place out with a local fighter in the main event, was an amazing experience and a historic night. We want to keep the momentum going and we’ll be back next month with another stacked card. We’re thankful to everyone who supported the event tonight. Boston is truly becoming one of the hotbeds of boxing in the United States and with Encore, Murphys Boxing now has the perfect venue to showcase that.”

MURPHYS BOXING RETURNS TO UFC FIGHT PASS®

BOSTON, MA – Murphys Boxing will return to UFC FIGHT PASS®, the world’s leading digital subscription service for combat sports, for their debut event in a partnership with Encore Boston Harbor on Friday, July 12th. The event will stream live and exclusively on FIGHT PASS beginning at 9:00 PM E.T. / 6:00 PM P.T.

Headlining the inaugural event at the newly opened $2.6 billion resort will be the pride ofStoneham, Massachusetts, Greg Vendetti (21-3-1, 12 KOs), who will take on New Jersey-based contender, Michael Anderson (17-2-1, 12 KOs), for the vacant IBA Junior Middleweight World Championship.

‘The Villain’, one of the most popular boxers in the Murphys stable, looked outstanding in an exciting unanimous decision victory over fellow world ranked contender, Alan Zavala, this past March. Prior to that, Vendetti upset world title challenger, Yoshihiro Kamegai before challenging for the WBA Interim World Junior Middleweight title against Michel Soro in France.

“To fight for a title in front of my family, friends, and fans at Encore’s first-ever event and also for subscribers of UFC FIGHT PASS, is a real honor,” said Vendetti.

As for Vendetti’s opponent, he is once again facing a tough challenge and would have it no other way.

“When I fought Zavala in my last fight, a lot of people thought I should have taken an easier opponent coming off a loss but I just didn’t see the value of fighting someone I’m going to steamroll. It’s no fun on my end. I don’t get better. The fans don’t pay to see that. I want to win the IBA title and then beat three or four fighters of this caliber to move up in the world rankings and land another big fight. Anderson is a slick boxer who is coming up to Boston to win. I’m anticipating another hard fought victory that the fans at Encore are going to love watching.”

The rest of the four-bout UFC Fight Pass broadcast will feature co-main events with four junior welterweights who will risk their records in two high-stakes showdowns that will send the winners into prospect status, as well as another Massachusetts-based fighter from the Murphys stable who is starting to turn heads.

In an all Irish battle, Murphys Boxing’s Ray Moylette (11-1, 4 KOs), who hails from Islandeady, will take on Dublin’s Larry Fryers (10-1, 3 KOs) in an eight-round junior welterweight bout.

‘Sugar Ray’ will be making his 2019 debut in his first fight since his only loss, a controversial split decision in his home country in December. Fryers, who now lives and trains in New York, is on a four-fight win streak and will be shipping his massive fan base up to Boston for what should make for an electric atmosphere.

Then someone’s ‘0’ must go when Murphys Boxing’s own Luis Arcon Diaz (7-0, 7 KOs) takes on Ballybrack, Ireland’s Niall O’Connor (5-0, 4 KOs) in what should be an action packed six-round junior welterweight bout between two big punchers.

Diaz, a native of Venezuela who represented his home country in the 2016 Olympics, has displayed fearsome power with all of his wins coming by way of knockout within four rounds or less. Meanwhile O’Connor is currently riding afour-fight KO streak including dropping Poland’s usually durable veteran, Krzysztof Rogowski, multiple times in their fight this past December.

Kicking off the UFC Fight Pass live stream will be Holbrook, Massachusetts’ Mike Ohan Jr. (9-0, 5 KOs), who will face Bridgeport, Connecticut’s Carlos Hernandez (3-3-1, 2 KOs) in a 6 round welterweight bout.

Signing with Murphys Boxing last year, Ohan outpointed crafty veteran Shaka Moore in his toughest contest to date this past March and is now looking to hit the 10-0 mark against the always game Hernandez.

“To have Greg fight for a title is the perfect main event for our first event at Encore and our second UFC Fight Pass broadcast. A Vendetti fight leaves the customers satisfied every time. He’s a real blood and guts throwback fighter with a huge local following. I can’t wait for this fight.”, said Ken Casey, Murphy’s Boxing founder and promoter.

The first four undercard bouts will stream live on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/dropkickmurphys. The main card will stream live and exclusively on UFC FIGHT PASS. To start your 7-day free UFC FIGHT PASS trial, please visit: https://www.ufc.tv/page/fightpass.
