AUDIO: Raeese Aleem Post fight Media Conference after stoppage over Pasillas
Stephen Fulton Jr. showed his versatility as he outpointed and outpunched Angelo Leo to capture the WBO Super Bantamweight title at the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.
In round one, Leo was cut over his left eye as the result of an accidental headbutt. The two fought inside for much of the bout, which would have seemed to favor Leo, but Fulton beat the now-former champion Leo at his own game as he was much quicker and active. Leo would attempt to work the body, but it was Fulton who showed the class in this bout.
Fulton landed 364 of 1183 punches; Leo was 262 of 810.
Fulton had answers for any and everything that Leo threw at him, and he cruised home with the victory and title by scores of 119-109 twice and 118-110.
Fulton of Philadelphia is now 19-0. Leo of Albuquerque, NM is 20-1.
Stephen Fulton Jr., Quotes:
“It feels good. I told you that I would engage more in this fight. I boxed a little but I engaged more to show him that I’m better than him at what he does best. They didn’t know I was going to come and engage in a fight like this. I’m used to dealing with fighting inside the gym, inside the ring. Everyone I’ve fought tried to bully me. This time I did to them what they try to do to me. And I got the job done.
“At some point I felt like I touched him but he didn’t show that he was ready to go although he might have been ready to go. His face showed that he was surprised by my punching power.
“I wore him down by attacking his body and pushing him back. I had to change the whole narrative, push him back and dropping those uppercuts in. That’s how I got the job done.
“From like the fifth round, that’s when I knew I was going to take off. I never got tired from engaging. This fight I was prepared and I knew that’s what I came to do. So by the fifth, I knew I was taking the fight away from him.
“Early on, I noticed he was landing a lot of good right hands as I was pulling back – and that’s one of the things my trainer told me not to do in the dressing room. I made the adjustments and smothered the shots to make sure I wouldn’t get caught again.
“I would like to fight another title-holder. I’d like to show I’m the best in the weight division. I am just a better fighter and I’m better at what he does. I just showed I was better overall and I’m going to continue to show that. I’m just lost for words right now. He wasn’t going to take no for an answer but I had to force the issue. I am a great body puncher. I’m so used to boxing but I had to show y’all the other side to me.
“After a year off, I feel I did a good job but I could be a lot better, a lot sharper. I want Luis Nery, Brandon Figueroa…I want all the champions. I want to be undisputed.
“It hasn’t hit me yet. When it hits me, I’m going to act the fool. Dancing, going crazy. This is a dream come true right now. I’m a world champion. Not everyone can be a world champion.
“This was the first fight I wasn’t really nervous. I knew I was in shape. I barely got tired. The ring rust was there somewhat but I kinda feel like I broke out of that. Just going through everything I went through, COVID and all, getting through that helped me.
“The bully got bullied. It always happens. I’m the new! The game plan was to box at first, but when I got in there and when I saw that I made a couple of mistakes and he was landing the right hand cleanly, I had to get a little dirty and fight his fight. I had to show him that I’m the better man to fight his style. I had to flip the script a little bit and I knew I had to continue to bang with him, and I did.
“Probably around the fifth or sixth round I started to see he was breathing a little heavy.
“There wasn’t any ring rust because of all the things I’ve been through; in 2020 we’ve all been through some crazy things and it’s been a rough year for all of us. But I felt that’s what changed my mind set and made me love the sport even more. Because I felt like I lost my opportunity and it gave me the chance to see that when something is taken away from you, you find that love and that love was boxing.
“It feels good because I’m the only world champion of any sport in Philadelphia. A lot more of us will have our hand raised, like Jaron Ennis and other talented fighters from Philadelphia.
“There’s a lot more that I can work on and I see that in the ring, but as long as I came and took the title from the world champion I just got to get back, and relax at this point.
“Maybe a unification belt is next. I want to pursue my goal of that and that’s why I was screaming ‘Undisputed!’ That’s what I want to do. That’s what I’m here for and what I want to do.
“I showed I was the better man. I met his promoter Floyd [Mayweather] at the Wilder fight, and he said he didn’t know me. But I bet he knows me now. I wish he would give me that bonus he said he was going to give Leo.”
“Philly, we back. That’s all I’ve got to say. I made my name in the books, I made history.”
Aleem Stops Pasillas in 11
Ra’eese Aleem won the WBA Interim Super Bantamweight Title with an emphatic 11h round stoppage over Victor Pasillas in a battle of undefeated fighters.
In round two, Aleem dropped Pasillas with a hard left hook. In round six, Aleem dropped Pasillas again with a left hook.
In round nine, Pasillas showed some life, but then Aleem landed a left that made the glove of Pasillas touch the canvas for a knockdown. In round 11, Aleem landed a perfect left hand that sent Pasillas to the canvas and the fight was stopped at 1:00
Aleem, 121 1/2 lbs of Las Vegas is 18-0 with 12 knockouts. Pasillas, 122 lbs of Redwood City, CA is 15-1-1.
Ra’eese Aleem Quotes:
“I feel great. We had a good camp. I was dominant. I wanted to put an exclamation point with this performance. It feels absolutely amazing. It just confirms what I knew in my head, that I have elite power. He’s one of the top fighters in the division so to knock him out, it means I’m a true threat.
“I think a lot of people were sleeping on me and my power. I wasn’t surprised that I stopped him. I didn’t think he’d be able to go the distance with me. I think a lot of the fighters in this division should really be on notice.
“I wanted to knock him out. But I wasn’t necessarily trying to go for the knockout early. I was just seeing the openings and everything came together.
“It doesn’t matter who I fight next. I’m ready to fight any world champion. Whether it’s the winner of Leo-Fulton or if Murodjon Akhmadaliev wants to come out of hiding.
“Any current world champion that’s willing to fight, I’m ready. I’ve got the pen, send the contract. Whether that’s Brandon Figueroa, Akhmadaliev – he has two of the belts and is a tremendous fighter. He hasn’t defended his belts yet. Any one of those fights would be a great fight.
“I couldn’t feel his power. There wasn’t like one punch he hit me with and I was like, ‘Damn, I got to watch out.’ I knew he was a hard hitter but I didn’t feel his power tonight.
“I’m a diverse fighter. Coming into this fight, I didn’t know what kind of fighter I was facing. But I pride myself in being able to adapt. I’m not one-dimensional: I can brawl, I can box. I just took what he gave me.
“I was able to give him different looks. And being able to explode in those small spaces, I feel I was able to capitalize.
“Early on, I was touching him and he could feel my power. He was grunting when I hit him in the body. So I knew he didn’t want to be aggressive because he could feel it.”
Romero stops Sparrow in 7
Rolando Romero stopped late-replacement Avery Sparrow in round seven of their 12 round non-title bout.
Seconds into the fight, Romero dropped Sparrow with a hard left hook to the side of the head. In round six, Sparrow was deducted two points for low blows.
With the fight getting out of hand, the corner of Sparrow stopped the bout at 43 seconds of round seven.
Romero, 134 1/2 lbs of Las Vegas is 13-0 with 11 knockouts. Sparrow, 136 lbs of Philadelphia is 10-4.
Rolando Romero:
“I was very disappointed, I really wanted to fight Justin Pauldo. But things happen – at least I had another opponent.
“I fought a dirty fighter. He hit me with a dozen, if not more, low blows, back of the head, trying to wrestle but it is what it is. I got the victory. I dropped him with that hook in the opening round. I thought it would be over but he’s slick – he knows how to survive.
“I didn’t really get to showcase the angles. I believe it was the last round, I started letting off. My defense was sharp, I was just sharp in general. I wouldn’t say it was improvement from my last fight; just showing more of what I have.
“The person that fought Jackson Marinez wasn’t me. I had a bad camp, I didn’t do the things I was supposed to do. The big part, he fought scared and made it very difficult. Marinez was supposed to rematch me. He decided not to even though we offered more money.
“With Sparrow, he fought like a coward. He just wanted a street-fight because he knows he wasn’t going to do anything to me. It came to low blows, hitting behind the head. His corner did the right thing by stopping it. In that last moment before they stopped the fight, he was hurt again and there was a lot of time left in the round. He’s lucky they stopped it.
“You guys said you want to see me box and you saw me box. At the end, his corner quit and he fought like a coward. I boxed good.
“I thought I had him out in the first but he’s really good at surviving.
“I’m a growing fighter. I came into this game eight years ago, I started boxing late and didn’t have much of an amateur career. I’m learning on the job. The old me would have went in there to destroy him.
“Boxing fans are the most bi-polar people I’ve ever seen in my life. There are so many fighters that have gone through the things I’ve gone through. Boxing is a very toxic sport. I just want the best and I just want the best for the future. I hope I keep entertaining you guys because at the end, that’s all that matters—and entertaining myself.
“I want that WBC belt. That’s what I want. I want a fight with Devin Haney.”
Follow all the action as Angelo Leo defends the WBO Super Bantamweight title against Stephen Fulton Jr. The co-feature will be the WBA Interim Super Bantamweight title match as Ra’eese Aleem takes on Victor Pasillas. ROUND 7 FIGHT STOPPED BY SPARROW’S CORNER
NEW YORK – January 15, 2021 – Undefeated 122-pound prospect Ra’eese Aleem previewed his upcoming showdown against fellow unbeaten Victor Pasillas before they battle for the interim WBA super bantamweight title Saturday, January 23 live on SHOWTIME® in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
The event is promoted by Mayweather Promotions and TGB Promotions.
Originally from Muskegon, Michigan, Aleem (17-0, 11 KOs) now lives and trains out of Las Vegas, where he moved to years ago to further pursue his championship dreams. After a stoppage victory over Marcus Bates on SHOWTIME in August, Aleem now faces Pasillas with a chance to move one step closer to that ultimate goal.
The 30-year-old is trained by Bobby McCoy in Las Vegas as he nears that potential world title opportunity, including a possible showdown against the winner of the January 23 main event between WBO 122-pound champion Angelo Leo and unbeaten rising star Stephen Fulton Jr. Here is what Aleem had to say about training camp, Pasillas and more:
On his matchup with Victor Pasillas:
“Pasillas is a good fighter with a lot of skills, but he’s not on my level physically and mentally. I have the speed advantage, along with a better ring IQ, so I believe I’m the more polished fighter. This is going to be a dog fight and a lot of hard punches are going to be thrown by both of us. I envision myself dominating this fight and coming out victorious by any means necessary.”
On his recent training camp in Las Vegas with coach Bobby McCoy:
“Coach Bobby and I are working harmoniously together, and we put in a lot of hard work during this training camp. There’s no place like Las Vegas as far as training and sparring goes, so I’m going to be well prepared going into this fight. We have a solid game plan set in place and adjustments will be made as the fight goes on. We are making the final push and I’m in great shape.”
On fighting for the interim WBA 122-pound title:
“This fight is the turning point in my career being that it’s for the WBA interim title. I’ve always said I want to fight the best fighters in the division and that’s exactly what I’m doing when I step in the ring with Victor Pasillas. I’m coming for all the belts and it starts on January 23.”
On making his third appearance on SHOWTIME:
“There’s nothing like fighting on SHOWTIME and I hope they see that I’m a fighter that brings a lot of excitement to the big stage. I want to thank my manager Greg Hannley, my promoter Marshall Kauffman, and everyone else who has helped me get to the point. I’m honored that PBC and SHOWTIME are giving me this opportunity, and I can’t wait to see my hands raised in victory after this fight.”
ABOUT LEO VS. FULTON
Leo vs. Fulton will see WBO Junior Featherweight World Champion Angelo Leo take on unbeaten rising star Stephen “Cool Boy Steph” Fulton Jr. in the main event live on SHOWTIME Saturday, January 23 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
The first SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® telecast of 2021 begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and features a co-main event between unbeaten 122-pounders Ra’eese Aleem and Victor Pasillas for the interim WBA title. In the telecast opener, rising prospect Rolando Romero squares off against Justin Pauldo in a 12-round lightweight bout for Romero’s interim WBA title.

NEW YORK – January 14, 2021 – Undefeated 122-pound prospect Victor Pasillas shared insight into his training camp and more as he prepares to take on fellow unbeaten Ra’eese Aleem for the interim WBA super bantamweight title Saturday, January 23 live on SHOWTIME® in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
The event is promoted by Mayweather Promotions and TGB Promotions.
Fighting out of his native Los Angeles, Calif. the 28-year-old Pasillas (15-0, 8 KOs) had an extensive amateur career and burst onto the scene with a career-best victory in September 2020, as he knocked out the previously unbeaten Ranfis Encarnacion in the sixth round.
With a victory on January 23, Pasillas puts himself into position for a world title shot, potentially against the winner of that night’s main event that pits WBO 122-pound Champion Angelo Leo against unbeaten rising star Stephen Fulton Jr. Here is what Pasillas had to say about training, his upcoming showdown against Aleem and more:
On his recent training camp in Redwood City, Calif., with coach Brian Schwartz:
“I’m having a really good training camp and I’ve been getting great sparring from my boys Eros Correa and Arnold Dinong. These guys are pushing me to the limit. In addition, my coach Brian Schwartz is right on point with everything we’ve been working on. I’m feeling great as we enter the final days of training camp.”
On his matchup with Ra’eese Aleem:
“I keep telling everyone that this fight is going to steal the show. I’m ready to put a beating on him and have the world witness a major beatdown. You have two pit bulls who are going to leave everything in the ring, and this pit bull will not be denied. This is going to be an all-out war and I can’t wait. I’m coming to knock his ass out.”
On making his SHOWTIME debut on January 23:
“I’m so grateful to my manager Greg Hannley and everyone at PBC and SHOWTIME for giving me this opportunity. Ever since I was a little kid, I always dreamed about what it would be like to fight on the big stage and here we are. Words cannot describe how I’m going to feel when I step in that ring on fight night. I’m getting butterflies just thinking about it. I’ll be ready to show out and show the world that I’m elite. Everyone should be tuning into SHOWTIME on January 23, because the goblin will be let loose.”
On what a victory will do for his career:
“Because this fight is for the WBA interim title, when I beat Aleem, it’s going to put me next in line to fight for the regular world title, so this fight means everything to me. I’m going to eliminate Aleem from the path, and I won’t stop until I become the unified champion at 122-pounds.”

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 24, 2020) – Fresh of his spectacular knockout performance on FS1 PBC Fight Night, undefeated featherweight/bantamweight sensation, Victor Pasillas (16-0, 9 KOs), is thrilled to have kept his knockout steak intact, which now stand at six. Pasillas looked unbelievable last night stopping previously unbeaten foe, Ranfis Encarnacion (17-1, 13 KOs), by sixth-round TKO.
“I told myself that I didn’t want the fight to go the distance because I know how important it was for me to look impressive in my PBC debut,” said Victor Pasillas, who was born and raised in East Los Angeles. “When you fight on national television, I feel you must show out and go for the knockout. With this being my televised debut as well, that’s exactly what I did, keeping my knockout steak alive. I made a concerted effort to let my hands go and not be boring. Fans can expect me to fight this style every time I step in the ring.”
“It was an incredible feeling to see Victor get the exposure with PBC and FOX as he deserves everything that is coming his way,” said Greg Hannley, CEO of Prince Ranch Boxing, who manages Pasillas. “He has the talent to become a multiple division world champion, and knowing how hard he works, I can see him in some very big fights right away. Everyone is saying Victor is a star in the making and I agree. We are exploring options for his next opponent and I know it’s going to be big.”
With the bantamweight and featherweight divisions stacked with talent, many big fights can be made with Pasillas. His performance against Encarnacion showed he will be a problem for any champion or contender fighting in those respected divisions. Pasillas wants all the big names.
“At age twenty-eight, I feel I’m in the prime of my career, ready to fight any of the champions or contenders at bantamweight or featherweight, Pasillas continued. “Both of those divisions are loaded with entertaining fights, and I’m ready to jump in headfirst and fight all of them. I know the fans want to see me challenge those guys so let’s see who they put in front of me next. I’m hoping it’s a big name. I’m so grateful to the folks at PBC and FOX, as well as my core team, for believing in me. I’m ready to take over.”
Nestor Bravo won a 10-round unanimous decision over Jose Luis Gallegos in a super lightweight bout at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
In round nine, Bravo was deducted a point for low blows. In round 10, Bravo was deducted a point for holding.
Bravo outlanded Gallegos 165-137.

Pasillas stops Encarnacion in 6
Victor Pasillas stopped Ranfis Encarnacion in round six of their scheduled 10-round bout featuring undefeated featherweights.
Pasillas dominated the fight throughout and then put down Encarnacion in the 6th with a hard combination and the towel was thrown in at 2:29.
Pasillas, 125.2 lbs of Los Angeles is 16-0 with nine knockouts. Encarnacion, 125 lbs of San Cristobal, DR is 17-1.
“I’m very excited to get the victory,” said Pasillas. “Me and my coach have been back at home breaking this fight down piece by piece for 10 weeks. We don’t guess when we get in there.”
“I’m confident in my skills and in my corner and we showed it in the ring,” said Pasillas. “We knew he was going to load up for one shot, so we just took our time and stuck to the plan.”
“I want to take over the 122-pound division,” said Pasillas. “Making 126-pounds was easy for this fight. There are a lot of great fighters at 122-pounds. Whoever wants to do it, line them up. Because I’m taking all my straps.”
Sando Decisions Pllana
Maidel Sando won an eight-round unanimous decision over Genc Pllana in a super middleweight bout.
In round five, Pllana started to swell under his right eye.
Sando outlanded Pllana 127-115.

LOS ANGELES (September 21, 2020) – Unbeaten featherweight Víctor Pasillas shared thoughts on training camp and previewed his showdown against undefeated Ranfis Encarnación before they meet in the co-main event of FS1 PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes this Wednesday, September 23 from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The FS1 telecast begins at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and is headlined by undefeated lightweight prospect Néstor Bravo taking on José Luis Gallegos in a 10-round showdown. Plus, undefeated Cuban Maidel Sando goes up against Genc Pllana in an eight round super middleweight bout.

Here is what Pasillas had to say from training camp in Redwood City, California with his head coach Brian Schwarz:
On his recent training camp:
“Training has been great. We are preparing for war and definitely training for a statement win. I am in great shape both mentally and physically. We worked hard during this camp. Be prepared to see a better version of myself on fight night. I’m coming to do damage!”
On his matchup with Ranfis Encarnación:
“Ranfis is a great fighter with good technique. He is also undefeated which means I must bring my ‘A’ game on fight night. It’s going to be interesting to see what game plan Ranfis brings to the ring that day. My plan is to not let the fight go the distance. It’s time to eat and I’m starving.”
On making his televised debut on FS1:
“First, I want to thank my team for the opportunity to showcase my talents on this stage. I cannot wait to make my televised debut on FS1. This is by far the most important fight of my career. I’m coming with everything I got, because I know this is the turning point that will lead to bigger and better fights. I am ready to bring an exciting fight to the fans and get my hand raised in victory.”
On what a win will do for his career in the featherweight division:
“Coming out on top against Encarnación is going to catapult me into some big fights at featherweight. The division is wide open and I know with hard work I can take it over. I am working towards a title shot. I am willing to fight anyone to get to that next level.”

LAS VEGAS, NV (May 19, 2020) – Prince Ranch Boxing’s undefeated super bantamweight prospect, Victor Pasillas (15-0, 8 KOs), is eager to face all elite fighters in his division as soon as boxing marches on.
“I am ready, I was a great amateur, I know who I am as a professional and I want the toughest fights, possible,” said Pasillas, who is a promotional free agent. “I am a world class fighter. All I need is an opportunity to prove myself. The fans deserve great fights, and I know I am a great fighter. I’m ready to make some action-packed fights for the fans.”
“Victor has made it clear he wants to fight only opponents that he views as a threat,” said manager Greg Hannley, CEO of Prince Ranch Boxing. “Most guys might look for a guy they know they can beat or develop with, Victor is at a place in his career in which he won’t sign to fight someone unless he knows they are a top-tier fighter.”
“I want to fight Rey Vargas, Emmanuel Navarrete, Brandon Figueroa, Ronny Rios, Luis Nery…I want all those guys.” continued the 28-year old Pasillas . “I want to challenge myself against the best, these are the top guys in my division and when they return to action, I am ready and willing to fight them as soon as possible.”

Here is what Pasillas had to say about training camp, fighting at home and more.
On his recent training camp.
“This has been my first real training camp that I’ve had in a while because I’ve known about this fight date going on a couple of months now. I’ve sparred many different styles during this camp and I’m in great shape. All the hard work has been put in and I’m ready to bring an exciting fight to the fans.”
On his upcoming fight against Ernesto Guerrero.
“Guerrero is a crafty veteran with over fifty fights, so I know he has some tricks up his sleeve. Knowing that, I’m going to impose my style and game plan on him. There is nothing he can do that I haven’t seen. I’m going into this fight with complete confidence.”
On when he sees himself in a big fight.
“My plan is to take out Guerrero this Saturday and finish strong, fighting at least two more times by the end of the year. Sometime in 2020 I can see myself fighting for a belt against a top contender.
On if he’s ready for all the top contenders in the super bantamweight division.
“The contenders in this division are all guys I feel I can beat. Matter of fact, I feel I’m the best super bantamweight in the world. I just need to land a meaningful fight against someone in the top ten. There is no doubt in my mind that I can become a world champion at 122 pounds.”

LAS VEGAS, NV (April 29, 2019) – This past Saturday at Cheer’s Bar and Grill in Tijuana, Mexico, rising super-bantamweight prospect, “Vicious” Victor Pasillas (14-0, 6 KOs), who is managed by Greg Hannley of Prince Ranch Boxing, remained undefeated with a 3rd round TKO against Saul Banos (14-15-2, 7 KOs). The scheduled 8-round bout was promoted by GM3 Boxing and Gonzalez Boxing Promotions.
Pasillas, who fights out of the southpaw stance, dictated the action from the opening bell, using lateral movement to land his punches. After dominating the first two rounds, Pasillas dropped Banos in round three with a right hook to the body, followed by a right hook to the head. The powerful combination spelled the end of Banos as he tried to continue but was unable to last much longer as the referee was forced to stop the bout after Pasillas was landing a barrage of punches. The bout ended in round three by TKO.
“It felt good to get back in the ring and get the stoppage,” said Pasillas. “I’m hoping to get back in the ring by the beginning of summer with the hopes of landing a big fight by the end of the year.”
“Victor can compete with anyone in the super bantamweight division,” said Greg Hannley. “With a couple of more fights, he’ll be ready to fight anyone. He just needs to shake off the rust and that’s what he’s are doing right now. I’m happy with his performance and he’ll be back in the ring soon.”

LAS VEGAS, NV (November 16, 2018) – Undefeated welterweight prospect, Keith Hunter (8-0, 6 KOs), has signed a managerial agreement with Greg Hannely of Prince Ranch Boxing. Hunter, who is the younger brother of IBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight champion, Michael Hunter (15-1, 10 KOs), joins fellow undefeated stable mates Blair Cobbs (9-0-1, 6 KOs), Victor Pasillas (13-0, 6 KOs), and Damien Vazquez (14-0, 7 KOs) on the Prince Ranch Boxing roster.
“Now that I have a strong management team behind me, I can focus more on my boxing career.” stated Hunter, who is trained by former two-time world champion, Bones Adams and Brandon Woods. “I’ve been training hard at the Prince Ranch Boxing gym in Las Vegas and I’m ready to start fighting on a regular basis.”
